I didn't compare him to the average championship midfielder, I compared him to our midfield 2nd half yesterday. They were several notches below average.
Yes they were and COH at his worst was also totally ineffective.

My concern is that from the end of last season really from just before the Wolves game we only performed in the big matches. In every other match there just hasn't been any energy and get up and go. Time wise yiuu could link it to when internally Lawrence announced he was leaving. Could just be a coincidence. Ultimately if we keep performing like we have so far this season then it's a chore going to watch and I love the new feel to the CBS and don't want it going back to feeling like a library again

He was great in league 1 what are you on about?

I think you are forgetting first half of the season Villa were going to recall him as he wasn’t getting any game time. He only started playing really in the second half of the season

Yes I would. He’s got a high percentage of the big calls right and has shown he will bring in expertise to help with the quality of our decisions.

However I think Robns will get it right.
What big calls has he got right?

I hope Robins gets it right too and we actually mount a serious playoff challenge. Unfortunately, I think not bringing in a couple of midfielders will prevent us from making the playoffs.

He made 40 appearances for us in all competitions that season.

Jesus I could be a while …

not selling Vik and Hamer in the Jan despite us being nowhere near the play offs … without that call we don’t get to the final and we all know SISU would have sold at least one of them.

getting top dollar for them both when we did sell.

strengthening the recruitment teams to enable us to invest in players from around Europe with potential

increasing season ticket and corp box prices, then holding season tickets flat this year resulting in both record income and record season tickets

investing in the training facilities, something fans care less about but players value

encouraging Mari to take the FA Cup seriously and thus giving fans one of the best away days in a long time and improving our brand around the world

I wouldn’t call most of those big calls? I agree with the top one though, undoubtedly they’d have been sold off in January.

I would argue that you can also make big calls right, when you initially went wrong (if that makes sense). Such as the outcry over the JSBs this Summer. He tried something, listened to the key revenue makers and realised his error quickly. Better to acknowledge a mistake and learn from it, than be stubborn. That to me is also a key decision.

I think I actually would trust him to decide when enough was enough with crap performances on the pitch, but I’d be concerned about him appointing the next manager.

What do you consider the big calls to be when owning a football club ?
Most of those aren’t big calls, they’re things to be expected from a decent Championship club and a symptom of being run on the bare minimum for years.

I’d say ensuring that Hamer and Vik could stay are big calls. I’m not convinced Robins will be happy with the current midfield situation.

Me too, especially after his comments about not being able to remember the last football match he’d watched when he took over.

You could argue that the fact we are short in midfield is down to Robins.

we know we agreed fees and terms with midfield targets but they chose other clubs.

All the owner can do is that. It’s upto Robins to convince them that they should choose him and us over other options …..

Ignoring the hyperbole and panic and gimoc’s usual stupidity..

we always start slow, it’s a well established pattern. It’s been the same every year.

But having said that, something feels a bit different this year, and for the first time I’m having.. not doubts about Robins just now, but just perhaps wondering whether it’s a bit like the Mickey Adams effect, where they’re excellent with no money at putting something together that’s greater than the sum of the parts, but give them a decent load of cash and they’re not sure what to do with it, and we end up with something a lot less than the sum of the parts.

One thing I don’t understand is the lethargy, and the huge glaring question is how has Viveash going and Boateng coming in affected things.

So not calling for sackings, not stirring things up, not questioning Robins’ position- but this season is a big one with the money spent, and we need to show something fast, or the pressure is only going to amplify in the coming weeks, more than any other time in his reign at the club. Something feels a bit different this year, a bit ‘off’- maybe the lack of energy, yesterday was pretty worrying in terms of not doing.. well anything really.

Also as much as I agree that failing to add more in midfield is a problem, that still doesn’t fully explain what we’re seeing on the pitch. If it gets near January and we’re miles off or even hovering nearer to the bottom 3, he’ll surely pull the trigger.

I honestly thought we would come out flying out of the blocks this season. People were saying how good we looked in pre-season and how well we played.

Hard to pinpoint it really. But that's twice now that we have looked completely baffled and clueless once going behind. Our heads seem to drop too and we become ragged.

That's a big worry.

Always backed Robins 100%, but it is a concern right now.

What have you got against George Poontang?

the thing I don’t like is that with all his talk of ambition, I suspect he’d be gone asap if a half decent managerial job came up- I may be wrong but it feels like a short term thing until he finds something he sees as a next step.

One thing I don't like is the 'yea but we were in league 2 7 years ago' brigade

I suppose we should be grateful to share a pitch with footballing might such as Oxford United and Plymouth Argyle then?

That doesn't wash with me, times change, expectations change, and when your Owner is saying he wants play offs 3 out of the next 5 seasons (now 4 of the next 5) and you've spent 45 million quid, I think we have every right to expect us to be in that top 6. Minimum

Fine but then you blame Robns ?? Not King.

By his own admission Robns has final say on recruitment; coaching, team selection and tactics.

king has provided the tools …..

I’m not in the Robins out camp, but the length of rope he’s built up throughout this second spell will quickly be shortened if he carries on the way he is.

There are too many concerns for me.

- We’ve played poor consistently since the Man Utd SF.
- Trying to cool expectations that he (Robins) has had a hand in building up.
- The players don’t look willing to run or battle at times (saw it multiple times yesterday).
- Blaming recruitment, which Robins heavily has an impact in by all accounts.
- His formation is now predictable and not getting the best out of the squad available to him.

Yes there have been some personnel changes at the Club and that does take time to bed in, but can’t keep making excuses, on paper we have a good enough squad to be top six, but the way we’ve played in some of these games up until now has been nothing short of embarrassing and that is down in most part to the manager and the players.
