Would have him back in a shot.

And I bet if he got his boots on he'd still be our best player at 48!

Perhaps as joint manager with AT?

He seemed to like it here, thought then again I got the impression he was the kind of guy never to say a bad word about anyone.

Another promising City manager sacked far too early...

And he'd still never have a hair out of place! Pure class and would love him back here.

Superb player and harshly treated here as manager, yet has won the cahmpionship with 1 team and top of the league with those he has left, has some credible experience as a manager, and they don't pay high wages over there. Yet probabley the wrong time, who would want to walk into this situation on and off the pitch

There was no need to sack him in the first place, yes the promotion charge lost momentum but he was doing ok. He was sacked far too early.

Wonder how he'd have done if he didn't have Jim fuckin' Smith foisted on him. A cautionary tale for those wanting an 'experienced head' alongside a young manager.

Very harshly treated I think...He was doing an excellent job up to January when for some inexplicable reason McGinnity foisted Jim Smith on him. It was all downhill from there with Smith bringing in legendary pair Carbonari and Trollope. Smith alone should've paid the price for the dramatic slide down the table to 11th although what we'd do for a finishing position like that these days!

Far and away the classiest defender I've ever seen in a City shirt. He was one of those that could and probably should have been playing for a top 4 club.

Are Sheffield Wed the only other English team he played for? Their fans still rave about him too.

Why don't I see a bad word about him, because he was a class player & good bloke. Yes well worth having back in some capacity.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_Nilsson On January 9th 2012, just six months after his recruitment, despite topping the Danish Superliga at the time, he was sacked and replaced by the sporting director Carsten V. Jensen. Wot!!!!

God I loved Roland. We'll never see a player of that quality again playing for us, not unless there is a real billionaire out there!

Under his managing years with Gais Nilsson occasionally had to make "Comebacks" and play himself due to player injuries.

Who would bet against him consistently being the best player on the pitch each time?

One of my all time favourite players to don a Sky Blue shirt. A professional through and through. Even in a coaching capacity he'd be invaluable to us

He was on £300k per year at FC Copenhagen.
His golden handshake is reported to be around £500K.
He was sacked due to failure in Champions League.

By far and away the best natural talent I have seen in a City shirt.

Supreme professional on and off the pitch. A joy to watch.

Just what possessed old rhubarb nose McGinnity to sack Nillson is another one of those sky blue mysteries that constantly seem to haunt us. I often wonder and don't laugh if the board of those days didn't want to go back into the Premiership. Although it is a gravy train for clubs one like ours who at the time were saddled with massive debts could hardly afford to shuvel a load more on.

I remember years ago when Roland was actually playing and paul Telfer was wisecracking
categorising each city player against the rankings of an airline crew with regard to physical
appearance/looks etc.

He gets to Roland and classifies him as Captain with Big Oggy as Baggage Handler - alright then, it was funny at the time !!!

Whats the story with when Jim Smith came in to help? Haven't really heard any rumours although form and results obviously started to dip.
