Fleck was useless today. Liability but we need him in the side for the passing. We miss the link between defence and Armstrong when hes missing
Fleck is annoying, because he lacks consistency! He can be great one week and just fade into obscurity the next.Have to play Fleck. Our most important player and our player of the season.
<snip> You can accommodate one or two who are inconsistent, Murphy being a very good case in point. He can be very inconsistent, but can also be key to the team because he can change a game in an instant. You simply can't though have too many players like that in your side.

I'm also not convinced that Mowbray is as good as we thought he was.

To do well we need consistent performances from key players. You can accommodate one or two who are inconsistent, Murphy being a very good case in point. Vincelot is a player who plays at a pretty consistent level every week. I like Fleck, but sometimes he is up and down like yo-yo.
I think this is part of our problem. The likes of Stokes and Vincelot and Armstrong seem to put in pretty consistent performances every week, as was, Martin, but Fleck, Maddison and Murphy don't. Phillips never did either and then you can add to that Ricketts too, who was very consistent earlier in the campaign, but lately has been rather error-riddled in his performances.
We need 7's every week from the Fleck's and the Vincelot's and the Ricketts' and the Stokes' of this squad and then from such as JOB, Cole or Hunt.
If you can have 5 or 6 of your team putting in 7 out of 10 efforts week in week out, with one or two putting in 8's, you're going to give yourself a much better chance of winning games.
I like Fleck and JOB, but they have both been inconsistent this season. Phillips was a bit all over the place and now Ricketts has lost his consistency too.
When it's not going so well for you, you need to battle and try and make your mark in showing spirit and determination, bottle and fight.
Fleck disappears too much for me. I think when you analyse him carefully he more often than not has one brilliant half in a game and then a second 45 where he either disappears or fades.
Aren't there stats around somewhere that marks consistency ratings!?
Seemingly, Burton have been steadily ticking along putting in decent performs week after week after week.
Consistency hasn't been good enough, but that will also come with the number of changes to the side we have experienced.
