he signed for crystal palace at age 21. He was 27/28 when he signed for Arsenal. So yeah you were nearly right ;-)
I'm all for giving the lad a chance - but I think it's fair enough to point out that it is a long shot, given the level he's coming from, which is a fair way down the non-league pyramid.
However I can think of another one from non-league who had a pretty decent professional career. Was in his early twenties when he signed for us from Enfield. Any takers?
Andy Morrell - decent player.
And one more. Another striker. Started at Newcastle Blue Star, broke into the league with Wrexham from where we signed him, scored a few for us, and then was stuck out in wide midfield despite never, ever being a midfielder (we seem to do that a lot). Looked older than he was.Anyone?
Paul Furlong ?However I can think of another one from non-league who had a pretty decent professional career. Was in his early twenties when he signed for us from Enfield.

Did we not pluck John Williams the flying postman from non-league ?
And Furlong was subsequently sold to Watford for £250k.Furlong and Morrell, indeed. Didn't take long!
I thought they were both half-decent players - in fact if I remember correctly, they were both strikers whom we attempted to convert into wide midfield players. Very odd, particularly for Morrell, who I thought was a pretty good finisher, but didn't exactly have blistering pace or a bagful of tricks. Ho hum, what do I know.
Kerry Dixon, Vinnie Jones, Les Ferdinand, Kevin Phillips and Stan Collymore all came from non league clubs.
So there are some gems to be found.
28 actually. Thicko ;-)
Unless you're a keeper. 56.
Sean Flynn from Halesowen Town
Dave Busst from Moor Green
Think we must agree...there are lots of examples of decent non-league players we've bought.
We have signed Guernsey FC striker Ross Allen for a nominal £20,000 fee
Lets hope he comes up trumps on this one, its risky but i doubt its a random name they have plucked out of the air in the hope he comes good. (although we have clearly done this many a time!!)

In your opinionSean Flynn was dreadful.
100 or so apperances in top flight, he wasnt dreadful.
He was. A bit like David Smith.
dont get the critism here.
Flynn nearly 100 apperances in top flight, Busst 50 or so.
Flynn and Busst in at their prime v Andy Webster and Connor Thomas
