For what it's worth .....

The ACL company have given SISU a 2 year rent free deal for the Ricoh.

The guy who posted it doesn't believe it to be true, but that's what he's been told.

If it were to be true by any chance then that would be fantastic news indeed.

Of course it would be amazing if it was true and I wouldn't complain but there must be a catch...

Brilliant. It probably just means the rent will remain at 1.2 mill after the 2 years. In the long run it saves ACL a lot of money because if the rent was put down to say 800k a year te contract is for 40 years so they would lose a hell of a lot more than the 2.4mill they are losing. This is believable but what about the council? Surely they would want there rent?

Operative word RUMOUR - suppose we will cling to anything if it means our clubs fortunes improve- sorry to be a realist -i don't believe it for one second

so a few weeks ago they said they would not move from 1 million and now they will give it us for free..... doubt it

Highly unlikely IMO! Probably a councillors promise They can't honour just to try and get votes before last weeks elections!

As said above, one minute they won't budge, the next their giving us it for free?

I imagine of such a drastic decision was to be made, council tax would not have been froze this year.....

they dont trust SISU, they wont sell to SISU why would they give it rent free for 2 years?? I suppose its not in their interest if there is no club at all!

If true... there's got to be a catch. Surely they would have to pay for it a some stage. Perhaps it's a case of giving us a better chance of being competetive enough to bounce back? They have a plan that ACL have bought into?

As i say, if it were to be true it would simply be deferred surely.

We'd still have to pay it back.

We still owe a good £40 million on the lease-quite possible that the lease agreement has been renegotiated to be extended by a few years in return for a break now.

For ACL to agree to this, though, SISU must have had a pretty decent two year plan. As in "This is what we will do with the money saved. That's what's going to get us into a position where we can justify the paying that much"

To date we've paid about £9-9.5 million of a £48 million lease-and until now we've paid on time every month. Just as banks grant repayment holidays to people who pay loan instalments on time for a given time, maybe ACL have granted us something similar. Pure speculation though!

Maybe sisu put a two year plan on the table the council said ok we will do it but if u break ur agreement we will want full back pay of rent

More of a case of £100K a month for the Club, I would have thought. More chance of getting in players.

I presume the idea is that we defer payment until we can get back in the Championship when we start paying again.

A nice 100k a month windfall for sisu's investors if its true.

If its true I would hope that ACL have accepted this as part of a proper plan for the club with all or at least a major part of that 100k a month going on players.

You know what, I'm actually more downhearted by the attitude of some fans than I am of our plight at the moment.

There's no spirit, no optimism, no "what if".

What happened to "City Till I Die" "We'll fight til the game is won"?

Well we're in League One. We've broken a few records we didn't want to break. We've had a really bad season and are at the end of a ten year stint of under achievment. We've got faceless owners who have made some hefty mistakes which have cost us.

Bar the league we're in... That's all part and parcel of being a City fan. That's what you signed up for folks. We were never the big club. We were always punching upwards. For as long as I've been a fan, we've always had the wrong people at the top.

We've hit a new low of the modern era of CCFC but, you know what, we're Cov fans. We take the knocks and the heartbreak. We dust ourselves off and look to the future. "It'll be better next season"... It's what we always say, isn't it?

That's what makes us special. That's why we're receiving the well wishes.

Squabbling about the morality of buying a Season Ticket, writing off a rumour before the facts are known, writing off a season before it's began or putting down players before they've pulled on the shirt... It's not what we're about, is it?

We are the only survivors of Jimmy's vision and it's up to us to continue that and relive it again, 50 years on.

Good post WS. I'm tired of being told by other fans how crap our support must be because we struggle to fill our ground. Well, give any other team bottom half finishes and relegation scraps for 40 years and see what crowds they get-that we maintain a hardcore of a dozen thousand in the face of such on pitch mediocrity (regardless of league) is a testament to those who continue to stick by their club.

Dont think it's true as they have a meeting later this week to discuss. The council may have to consult the public to piss away £2m quid ?

How can people be optimistic? We've just been relegated, our owners sell or release any good players we have,we've been bullshitted inside out by them, they wont pay the rent,we've got a transfer embargo, threats of liquidation etc etc. No wonder people are fed up.

Wouldn't be pissing it away though if it was deferred would it.

Only passing on a rumour. This is a possible course of action though. Rather than lower the rent or Sisu refuse to pay the rent, to have the rent deferred to be paid at a later date.

So possibly more debt for the club, sisu save a 100k a month and leave any future owner with a possible 2 million bill.

If true, fair play to ACL....now SISU have no leg to stand on....not that they had one in the first place.
