Looks like Ranson instigated it.

JE/GH happy with decision though and as James said JE was looking how the message to fans was going to be "managed".

Lol
How do you make out everyone was happy about it?
I doubt it was something they wanted to do. You have to remember at that time there were mortgages on ryton and season ticket sales were being borrowed against.
Anyway when did the Academy close?
Hey don't let that spoil your argument though!

And you know for sure they didn't agree with the decision? Maybe you could.kindly post the minutes where they strongly disagreed with the decision. I can apologise then.

No, the Academy didn't close so thankfully everyone came to their senses.

This is why Gary is not the man...

Well if it's him it's him but would rather have someone totally unconnected with the current regime.

So would I, but we this is where we currently are.. Sisu have to go for our club to at least attempt to stop the rot and devise a strategy to move forward. It may lead to "more worthy" buyers taking up the reagin at some point.

I just posted up the minutes as a refresher for everyone, make of it what you will.
But if you believe any CCFC fan would actually want to close the academy by choice your a bigger muppet than i originally thought.
Looking at it with a ballanced view it was more about the financial pressures the club were under that it was even considered.

Joe Elliott put in over a million quid when a million was worth a lot more then of his own money sponsoring our youth system in time gone by.

I find that very hard to believe.

Ok so we'll take that as JE and GH being really, really, really angry about it. Apologies you were right.

Not sure how different it will be as Hoff wants to give them loads of our income anyway.
Whilst I agree with your sentiment, it's 3 years of transfer fees - year 4 and we're home free. And the cut from promotions is a price worth paying imho - they come with their own windfalls anyway*.

*This has been posted purely to help towards the 100 page count. Are we almost at the Portsmouth thread territory yet?

Well we've got to build a team to gain those promotions and we'll be hamstrung with half of any money we make to build a better team going to SISU! I think it's madness but just my opinion, of course.

What a load of bollocks. You don't half spout some rubbish. £1m to sponsor the youth team in the 80s at 80s prices! Have a day off.

He only sponsored the shirts didn't he? What were Tallon pens paying - £5 million?

We'll find out whenever they come forward.
That of course may never happen, or if it does, the club would likely to be in a worse state than it currently is. I would be prepared to take the risk with this consortium, even though there is some history. For one, it would be easier to hold them to account.

Sisu (no interest in the club) v fan led consortium?

If you are talking half of the transfer fees the next 3 years going to SISU how much in percentage terms do you think they get now. I'll put it to you getting half towards ccfc the next 3years will be a massive increase.

There isn't another, that's a bit clear now isn't it?

There would always be others. If SISU came out and said "CCFC is for sale" then I think we would see others interested.

But transfer fees are not going towards ccfc for team building are they, if they were or just a small percentage was perhaps we wouldn't now be in division 4.

As for Elliott sponsoring the youth set-up in the past do your homework you spend enough time stuck behind the keyboard

The difference being people who care for the club and fans will be in charge. A transparent owner instead of a faceless bitch that we have right now.

I would hope fans wouldn't be in charge. They would have to be businessmen before being fans.

I find it hard to work out why some of our fans are against the idea of a consortium of City fans attempting to buy out Sisu. It really is bizarre.

Could well be like peeing in your pants on a cold winter day. Warm feeling at first - then it gets really, really cold.

So what you're saying is that if we give our transfer fees away, we'll run at a loss?
