I’ve done Northbrook handicap 5k this week 24:07. It’s a bugger too, starts up Butt lane, then up Staircase Lane then round the block and up Browns Lane.

Also had a go at the Northbrook 5miler. Starts on sandpits and then heads up fivefield, finishes on the wedge up towards RSPCA. 42:30 for that one.

Finishing up the week at Ilmington 10k and a bit. Starts in the village then heads up to the highest point in Warwickshire. I’ll be happy with sub 55 on that one. Struggled with motivation when I did it 2 weeks ago and came in just under the hour. Plenty of walking in that when I just couldn’t be arsed, so hoping 5 minutes off is well achievable.

2 mile downhill race done on Friday. Started up on Corley moor and heads down towards Browns Lane.
Managed to turn in 13:28 which I was surprised by. Got to go again on Friday as I made it through the to the final. Hoping to improve as my main competition has been sandbagging 😂.

Foot still isn’t quite right, went for an X-ray the other week to check I hadn’t picked up a stress fracture, which I hadn’t. That said, feels a lot better today than it has for the last week so hopefully back to it before long. I’m actually missing it, which is not something I thought I’d ever say 12 months ago.

My mileage has reduced last couple of weeks... 46 and 50 miles... Combination of moving house and the resumption of strength work, has made things less consistent.

Hoping to ramp things back up again this week, although moving to Lake District next weekend, then next race is a week on Wednesday.

I've tailed off recently as well. I'd got into a good routine of alternating running days with weights days but being able to play footie again has thrown things off and I haven't found the right balance yet. I play Wednesdays which is probably the worst day - any running Monday/Tuesday can make my legs a bit heavy, and I'm still feeling a game in my legs Thursday/Friday.

Luckily I don't mind running at the weekend but ideally I'd be going 3/4 times a week.

Personally, I’d prioritise what I enjoy the most. If that’s football, work around that!

Generally, when I’m training full tilt, I accept that my runs are going to be slower because I have heavy legs from rugby and/or weight training!

Hit the running harder when you’re resting from weights/break from football?

Oh yeah 100%, that’s why everything else has taken a backseat atm. It’s not like I’m sacking it off to sit on my arse so I’m not too annoyed.

That’s why I’m just running at the weekend now, would just love an ideal world where have time to do all the things full tilt but hey ho

Another good few weeks running distance wise - averaging 30 miles.

I did 10 miles cross country/canalside today and pushed myself for 2/3 mile intervals to keep a 7minute/mile pace. Felt surprisingly ok.

Unlike Daz though I’m not losing weight - my sweet tooth is taking over!!

That’s a fantastic effort mate well done , I worked out that I’d done 27 miles running and walking combined So I haven’t ran over the weekend . I’ll get back at it tomorrow

I went out last night and did a fast mile. 6:22. I’ve now got the rest of the month to work hard and see how I can improve on the same route come the next bank holiday.

Got a 5 mile run done today , bit of decent weather helps
That's good considering your previous post! I've found it hard going the last month or two for some reason, seem to permanently have cold-type symptoms and just never feel quite as strong as i was previously. Winning the mental battle and making sure you actually go out is the main key to success though.

Had a nightmare the last week or so-got a calf problem going on that happened during a match. Rested it for the week and had a game yesterday and broke down again 😞
Running and my fitness I know will go down the pan while I rest it.

Did a canal towpath run today - always prefer off road running, however I got caught in the torrential rain today.

Running on an uneven and mud paved towpath was pretty treacherous - more than once I was nearly in the canal!

Did a 10k last week in 47 which is my pb. A year ago I did 5k in 29 so I'm getting decent.

Ordered cov away shirt in medium as a risk, all others been large and I'm fooking buzzing cuz not only does it fit but I actually look half decent

Hard session today after a mixed week of running (mainly due to work & socialising again).

Today’s session: 2x 10min @ 3:30 per km (2 min walk, 2 min jog between each rep) followed by 1k @ 3:23 per km (2min slow rest) followed by 500m @ 3:23 per km. Preceded and proceeded by warm up and cool down. 13km in total. Felt good once completed! And had the added bonus of coming home to watch Leicester throw away a 2-1 lead 👍

10 mins at 3:30 is decent. Especially for reps. That pace would get you 10:30 for a 3000mtr track race.

I returned to fell racing yesterday after 9 months away. 9 miles 3000ft. 1hr48, 2mins down on 2019, but given the long layoff I'm not too disheartened, legs just didn't have that top gear in them.
