Your local county (Devon?) Athletics Association will be able to let you know which competitions your club are eligible for....
I'd imagine there's a county/area cross country league...... and if your club is affiliated to England/Uk Athletics, should be eligible for county/regional cross country champs, and area road relays, etc
Its a thankless task getting teams out once you're committed to a race though..... Godiva are a large club and can still be scrapping around the night before to fill teams (this is how i've managed to make the first team in some prestigious races like the National 6 Stage Relays!!)

I'm getting what feels a bit like cramp or pain in the arches of my feet at the moment. Could this just be my trainers telling me they need replacing? I've never had this pain before but I do have a high arch.

I went to an osteopath and he did some massages that hurt like hell but my issue has largely disappeared now. I had pain pressure points all over my legs where I hadn't felt pain before.
I can't remember what it's called but it's to do with fluid being restricted around the muscles and the massage has meant it can reach it again or something like that.

National Cross Country Champs at Parliament Hill, London yesterday.
12km took me over 61mins which is an indication of how tough the course was. Pure mud and rough ground from start to finish.
Godiva finished in the 40's which is the best we could expect with a weakened team (i was in our scoring six which is not a good sign of strength!)
Nuneaton were the only other local (men's) team who fielded a full team, they finished i think in the 90's, again with most of their better runners missing.

I'd be tempted to go and get it checked out by a physio. I pushed through pain for around a year and it left me not being able to run for the same amount of time.

Reduced week through illness but really enjoying training and look forward to my long runs. Took a while getting used to running slowly but trundling round eating dates every now and then has really grown on me!
Nice to have a change of scenery when I'm down for a City game too, was out for 2 hours yesterday doing Earlsdon to Kenilworth and back.

9th place at the Granite Way 20 miler this morning. 2.17.19. A nice race on an old Dartmoor railway line converted to cycle path. Undulating rather than hilly but very windy especially crossing the viaducts.
Nice one..... if you can hold that pace you'd be well on for a sub-3hr marathon.
I raced on the Shropshire Hills yesterday in the penultimate race in the Winter Champs. 10th overall.
I'm in a 5-horse race at the top of the v40 standings...... 1st has now gone, and i'm still currently in 5th.... however i have a "race in hand" so it goes down to the final race in a few weeks, and its likely to be a matter of seconds which decides whether i finish 2nd or 3rd.
However first up i've got the Podium 5km in Leicester next saturday..... i'm in Race H, the slowest of the seeded races.... hoping i might be in pb shape.

Cheers, no way could I have done a further 10k in 42.5 minutes today though. I've got a marathon in about 6 weeks and think realistically I can go get a 3.06/7 which would be a big PB for me

Podium is technically a "road" 5km, although its in private grounds and is basically 5 laps round a 1km loop.
Its one of the top events in the country.... we've got a couple of guys who are around 15mins and they are only in the "D" race.
The elite race will be close to 13mins.

Massive pb. I sat off the back of the 17 minute pacers for a couple of km but the pace was just a bit too hot for me. Being in a field with so many people of similar pace just made it a great race to be in.... my race was won in something around 16:20 and i came in a minute later but was around 45th.
I'll likely come off the mountain running at end of June, and spend 9-12 months working specifically for 5km, see if i can't make it down to sub-17

Just under 5 weeks out from the marathon now and feel really good. Did 28km on Sunday, ran a big chunk of the route out to Altrincham and back and really pleased with the pace.
Getting the first trickle of nerves starting to come through. I'm raising money for British Heart Foundation and they put a Zoom session on for everyone last night with their training/nutrition partner with some final advice and it suddenly became very real! Until now I've just had tunnel vision with the training and not thought too much about the day itself.

I am running Brighton and London this year. I honestly feel totally unprepared. Work has been a bit full on and it’s involved more than planned social stuff, so my diet has been poor.
I ran Ashby 20 on Sunday and I genuinely felt worse when I finished than any previous marathon, so so so hilly.

After averaging 3:16 on this session a few weeks ago, how would i fare tonight.....?

Then, despite feeling controlled and strong, and ready to kick on, 50mtrs into the 4th rep i had to pull up with a twinge in my leg.... possibly groin.
Don't think its anything major, but its a worry as i've scraped into our 1st team for the Midlands Road Relays on saturday..... if in any doubt at all, i'll have to drop to the B team..... can't afford to be off the pace on saturday or it could cost us a qualifying place for the Nationals a fortnight later.

This should show you a list of those planned for October - Running races in October 2025 - 2026 in Italy | Ahotu - I’m not sure there will be any in August and wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re comfortable running in 30-40c.

12 legs of about 5.2km, fairly hilly.
Unfortunately i pulled my groin in training last tuesday, so had to drop out of our first team. I originally hoped to still run for our B team, but became apparent i needed to rest completely.
We came 13th and qualify for the National a week on saturday (the top 25 clubs from the North/Midlands/South all qualify for the National)... beating historical rivals Birchfield Harriers in the process. Although Tipton Harriers, another famous old club, got the edge on us.
The only other local club who qualified were Nuneaton, who finished inside the top 20...... Leamington, who would usually be capable of qualifying, were absent.... Kenilworth were well up the front for a couple of legs, but dropped out of contention.... Northbrook and Masseys finished around 40th.
