There always has to be a first !Can anyone think of any other ex M. U. player that succeeded in Management?
The point stands it’s quite a different test to what he’d be doing here.nah, Ajax are the Celtic and Feyenoord are a bigger club as well.
It's like being Aberdeen manager
There always has to be a first !
Anyway, define a successful managerial career.
There are the elite ones over the years from Shankly, Ferguson, Wenger and Guardiola etc
Hundreds of others do a decent job with the tools (deck) at there disposal
You have slightly missed the point. Arne Slot managing Liverpool is much more similar to what he did in the Netherlands than RvN going into the Championship from PSV.There are plenty of top class managers coming out of the Eredivisie though. Arne Slot is currently dominating the Prem and ETH’s Ajax performed well in the Champions League.
In general, it is an uncompetitive league but the standard of managers and players coming out of the league is way ahead of the SPL.
Exactly my pointAs someone has already said our highest finish was under an ex Man U player
Yeah, tbh with you it does feel like his best days were a few years ago. That said, I think Norwich fans just haven't gotten accustomed to the fact they're not that good any more.Norwich fans hated him. Especially as he came in for a very popular manager who the majority didn't want sacked (sounds familiar!).
You don’t get RVN. You don’t want Lampard. Who do you want?Don’t get the excitement here. He’s done nowt.
Mark Robins with Adi did well. Mark on his own not so…..Mark Robins did OK
Ex-player - (abused) horses for courses
According to the METRO Burnley are interested in RVN.
I’d have prioritised Buckingham. Next on the list would be Skubala. Even Darrell Clarke. I don’t want a name for the sake of it.You don’t get RVN. You don’t want Lampard. Who do you want?
So Buckingham who would have been unlikely to come. Skubala yes good shout I like him too. Clarke would be horrendousI’d have prioritised Buckingham. Next on the list would be Skubala. Even Darrell Clarke. I don’t want a name for the sake of it.
You know who else was good at getting easy cup drawsSo he's good at getting easy draws then, that's a plus
Could easily become a Joe Edwards, Ian Foster type situationI’d have prioritised Buckingham. Next on the list would be Skubala. Even Darrell Clarke. I don’t want a name for the sake of it.
I never said they were I was wondering if the odds have changed that’s all. No need to be a c**t about itThe bookie's are not Doug King are they.
Why is he unlikely to come. Big wage rise. That normally does the trick. Probably still less than the novice RVN and the “name” Frank though. So Buckingham who would have been unlikely to come. Skubala yes good shout I like him too. Clarke would be horrendous
Skubala has pretty much the same amount of games managed as Van Nistelrooy? Why is he unlikely to come. Big wage rise. That normally does the trick. Probably still less than the novice RVN and the “name” Frank though.
Would take RVN, Lampard or Carsley over Buckingham all day longWhy is he unlikely to come. Big wage rise. That normally does the trick. Probably still less than the novice RVN and the “name” Frank though.
If he's actually applied (he hasn't) I'd take him in an instant.

So who's your chosen candidate? No to RVN...Like Lampard, he's a name, but the Dutch tend to be quite authoritarian in management, and he'll fall out with players.
Also he's coached at Man U and PSV, The Championship is a different beast. At least Lampard has had experience in this league before.
Still would prefer Carsley. There's a lot of talk of what a good coach he is, hence his England caretaker role. Lives locally, played for the club. If RVN or Lampard get us promoted, and keep us up, they'll be wanted men, and are more likely to jump ship.
Spot onI think the idea of not choosing someone because if they are successful other clubs will tempt them away is folly.
This happens at every level of football.
If we choose someone who gets us promoted, we then stay in the Premier League, and he then leaves i’m 100% ok with that.
