God knows. Probably Don. If imagine he is keeping his head down after McDonald's lethargic and totally abject performance yesterday.

tbh it was more a nod to our dearly departed former chairman, who was convinced in his judgement we'd signed the future England left back.

There really shouldn't be any need to sell anyone come the Summer, should we be run to our max potential .

Turnover last season @ Ricoh was circa £6.7M IIRC ,that would have Included Turner and Keogh money I think.

They should be able to generate a budget of £5M ish from being home this season and had a budget of around £3.5m from Wilson Christie Sales.

This seasons salaries have been set from that @ around £1.5M ish .

That would allow a wage budget of £2.M next season should they so wish and may give further potential for this season.

Very early days with young Haynes but he looks better going forward than Christie did at the same stage. Defensively what you would expect from an academy graduate in his first full season though if we were to get Pugh back to fitness it might even be worth trying him out further up the pitch. Seems to be the case with so many good wingers that they start their careers out as full backs.

What struck me last night is how tight these Cov lads are.

When It kicked off between Clarke and that Gillingham lad,Thomas and willis were straight In there looking after him.

I think It's great we have a solid homegrown contingent ,and It may be possible to expand It further .

Very reminiscent of the early 80's under Milne and Sexton ,difference being Wilson like Thompson has been sold but It's probably not as simple for the rest to walk,at least that's what I hope.

Ryan Matthew Haynes (born 27 September 1995) is an English football player, widely considered to be one of the brightest ginger prospects in football. He is a defender who currently plays for Football League One team Coventry City. He played the game of his career against Gillingham on 6th of September where the right back for Gillingham would not mark him as they were too scared to get merked by his bare skills. Some call him the ginger Roberto Carlos due to his fast pace and great vision to pass the ball to the strikers.

Come on, which one of you was it?

Think it's harder to hold on to strikers and attacking players in general as the number of goals scored makes them stand out immediately. Players like Haynes will get more time out of the spotlight and that will do him better in the long run. Wilson is exceptional but the pressure put on him to score our goals once Clarke left certainly can't have helped him.

He certainly has a greater awareness than Christie, quality crosser and a great pull back yesterday for the goal. Christie either crossed poorly or cut inside and lashed a shot way off target 95% of the time.

This is where if we had more bodies I'd like to see how he does as a winger in a few games with an experienced full back doing the defensive work behind him.

Not really said that have I? Remember Andrew whing once according to some CCFC fans was going to be sold for £5 million and mark edworthy was likely to get an England ca up .

I think defensively he looks very weak at the moment. Going forward yes he supplied some killer crosses but I would expect that for much of the season he will be on the bench.

You said yourself that he is only 18 and not the finished article. He has a lot to learn. Most of us would agree with this. It will all come with experience. The thing is what I have seen from him so far tells me he won't end up as a defensive player. Would you put him in defence if we were playing 4-4-2? I would certainly play him on the left wing. He can certainly split a defence. And I am of the mind of why play a player that can do such a thing in defence? Leave him in the middle 1/3 of the pitch. Once he is better known other teams will leave players on him reducing the attacking threat from them and stopping them from pushing us back like the second half yesterday.

I'm fully looking forward to seeing all the players develop now we are home. Haynes has to be one of our most promising players at the minute, as well as most exciting. Always looks like he will do something special.

I would like to see him as LW with Pugh in at LB, what a formidable left side that would be.

I think that happened more because we just dropped our intensity and became sloppy in possession. Understandable given how pumped up they'd have been at the start.

Ryan Haynes certainly excites me but is not the finished item....get behind the lad and support him but we must not expect too much from him and over-expose burn him out.
His form will dip as is natural with such a young player!
I think Pugh is a very good player too and would like them both to share the load of this season 50/50 overall a rest now and again will do Haynes good!

I thought JO'B also looked good throughout. And Fleck.

TBH, they all played well. Thomas steadily got worse unfortunately, and Tudgay didn't offer much. But generally a good performance and a key win. 20K vs Yeovil please :)

I fully agree with you, but having a player that was going past their players for fun doing defensive duties wouldn't have helped. I would prefer him to be given more freedom. A player can't keep running the whole length of the pitch all the game.

Not saying everybody let things drop but it seemed that we did as a whole take our feet off the gas. Which always happens as you rarely control league games from start to finish. So many times the shoe has been on the other foot so no complaints from me.

That long range shot from Fleck was an excellent attempt. One comment in the pub said it all. 'Why isn't he playing at a higher level?' As usual I was the only Cov supporter. Haynes, Fleck and Reda got noticed.

Of course, and we seem to agree on that latter point. He isn't afraid of taking players on, he can cross a ball and has an eye for a pass. He's less good at keeping with his man and putting tackles in. He is just 18 but those basic ingredients tell me that indeed he should be playing further up the pitch.

Of course. So many times a big Ricoh crowd has caused the team to buckle, last night it seemed to go the other way and they thrived off it. 27,000 a week is unrealistic to expect but if we can keep it to say at least 20k then the Ricoh could become a tough place to come once more.

He can be poor some games. But he's still only 23/24? Much more to come, hopefully can be a CCFC legend.

Although unlikely, as he does more unnoticed work, like link play etc, something fans will easily miss.

agreed. before last night we hadn't scored a goal in front of a sell out. (Chelsea and Crewe)

Huge step forward last night, let's just hope the club keeps taking the forward steps :)

Ryan, your a star mate, gonna go all the way, just buy some dye ffs

Less of that. You will upset my youngest lad. When he met Haynes in Italy he even mentioned that he has the same colour hair as his mummy and two of his sisters so was his favourite player :)

It was me......a fair cop.

That's a lie! As someone who lives in the same household as you, I know for a fact you struggle to work the printer! Signing up for wikipedia and managing to edit it is a bit harder than "the youtube".

Way too early to say that,he played well because of the occasion in my eyes but will be happy to be proved wrong.
