On loan from Newport, no less.

My argument was why wasn't he given a go like Wilson, who was no more deserving of a chance. Probably called people bellends because they were blindly disagreeing with me (what most do on here tbh). Anyway I am rsd? No.

Wow, he plays a handful of games (only one top performance) and he has already been sold! Damn you SISU selling our best player this season...... oh wait they havent. Seem to remember having a similar discussion last year then Wilson signed a new contract too, lets not be hasty people. I dont even know where this rumour originated from anyway?!

The original argument was fine, it was just ruined by HAHAHAHAHA LOOK WHO KNOWS HIS SHIT BELLENDS when he scored that one goal. I think he's scored another since though, so there's still time for the bellends to see who knows his shit.

I bet everyone on here has known or played in the same side as a player who was a pro or played at academy level where you have thought how didn't he make it big!!!!!!!... Players act differently in different levels i have seen players who don't have great ability but stand out in a level they probably should not be playing at and seen some players who have the lot but just do not perform... I have seen players that are fantastic at training and hide during games due to lack of confidence or as they are not the voice in the changing room and are scared to make mistakes, therefore don't get on the ball..

Nobody has the answer to who and why certain players make it or fail, but no matter who you are, clubs will take players on potential, as really that is all they have to go on. So unless you are earmarked at a really early age for stardom you are just a part of a wheel that churns out potential... Clubs play the numbers game and players are used and dropped whenever the club feels like it..

Because he was shit and several managers who saw him in training everyday didn't think he was good enough.

Don't be hasty? Where is wilson now? Where are we now? If Haynes is here this time next year I'll be surprised.

if he is not playing for us all of the time, how good can he be?? Wilson was inevitable but people had him sold in Jan when he signed the contract

Typical Cov fans creaming themselves over a lad who can put in an ok ball. Same fans who slammed Christie last year, who is now tearing it up at Derby. Haynes still has a lot to prove. Get a grip.

LOL Obviously you went to every game and watched top notch displays from Christie

Not sure anything in the story But Ray Gooding is or has been working with Newcastle Utd so he would know a a lot about the younger players here, as he did Bigi....

And they aren't going to make the same mistake twice are they?

Gren,,,,Oh my god,, you are a wall,, clubs will always buy or sign potential...NCFC will not stop because Bigi is not breaking through!!! They like every other club in the world will keep signing young potential players who they think will step up... Its really not hard to understand the way the business works..

And before you jump i never said a story was true, or a scout was looking at anyone in a Cov shirt just how the business works....

Sturbridge went for nothing on a youth deal and sterling for £660,000 and frankly mentioning Haynes alongside those two is rather silly.

Sturridge went for a fee, and why is it silly he's shown potential just as they did the major difference is he's actually done it in a competitive game. If you want other comparisons maybe we could use Jermain Pennant moving from Rotherham to Arsenal (I think it was Rotherham). Showing potential for a youth player at this level is what is required of future prem footballers, Ryan Mason at spurs would be a good example of player who has had to prove himself at this before stepping up.

On another note why when you reply to people do you feel the need to try and belittle the point they have made by saying the point they have made is silly. I don't agree with most of your football statements (club running matters aside) but I certainly don't feel the need to to talk down like that.

Scored one and made one today, definitely showing "potential"!

Quality player

No he's very young and very inexperienced. Heaping pressure on him - he has a lot of developing to do.

His performance I'm the first half was as bad as the rest of the defence while his second half was far better including a great goal created by a superb piece of skill by O'brian.

We've heard silly hyperboles before - Bigi for £35 million and Hussey the next Gareth Bale.

People should just put the hyperbole aside and let his game develop at a sensible pace.

You can say that, sure. But what players do we actually ever get to see develop here?! First sign of potential and they're off. Not just talking through the youth, but players like Dann and Fox too who were still young at the time. I agree about not heaping pressure on, but if that's the only reason for not singing someone's praises then it's a bit silly.

Could have been looking at the Peterborough players, Marcus Maddison has been getting plenty of plaudits for his performances.

He stood out as their player of real quality, and their tall right sided centre back was decent on the ball for a big fella

The Premiership would be a complete culture-shock for Ryan Haynes, at this stage in his career/development...he doesn't exactly smack of the same potentially explosive talent as Gareth Bale or Luke Shaw, but who knows...a few years to cultivate in the Championship, and he could be yet another Cov Academy success.

Then again, Danny Fox promised much after moving to Celtic, then his progress skidded in several shits, to say the least.
