Safe Standing and Segregation (1 Viewer)

Despite what you say I wager it would be for staging a concert myself if they choose to have one that is?

What do you mean?

If they breach stadium regulations they can have no complaints, same as if I breached some stadium regulation.

Find me a ground in English Professional football where there isn’t a breach.

They won’t “force” thousands to sit down.

it's the weird glee you have for other people "getting in trouble" that concerns me.

They are not going to start banning thousands of people.

Unless there is a reason out of their control the club made a mistake, they in time admit this.

It’s the arrogance of people that think they can stand preventing those behind them who wish to sit - in the seat in the sitting area that they have paid for - that annoys me. Especially when a standing area has been provided and those who wish to stand haven’t taken up that option.

I people are allowed to continue to stand in Singers Corner, the money spent on safe standing would have been better spent elsewhere.

Be interesting to see how safe standing works later and if others get told to sit down etc.

Yeah…where people do stand and have stood for years. No, let’s put the railings somewhere else.

Real daft decision imo.

Which needs to be explained.

If there was a good reason, within the club’s control, why the safe standing could not be put in Singers Corner, would you accept that?

Or do you think Doug King just thought “fuck em”.

An explanation is inevitable after one or two games when it hasn’t worked out and wer’re still stood up in 15/16

TBH I’m surprised nothing has been forthcoming as yet. The club must be aware of the unhappiness amongst some supporters.

not sure they are , everyone has mostly been oh well fuck it

When they announced the blocks for safe standing they said "we listened and put it where you wanted" when they haven't

That'll be interesting to see why

You keep saying that they said that. They didn’t. Look back at the announcement.

To save you looking it up. Please show me where the club said “we listened and put it where you wanted”.

"Earlier this year the Sky Blues sent a survey to supporters to gauge their views on safe standing, including their preferred location in the Arena for this to be introduced. Over 80% of supporters who completed the survey supported the introduction of safe standing within the stadium with over 70% stating the preferred location for installation being Singers Corner."

Indicates that they think they are in line with the wishes of the people who took the survey

No it really doesn’t, it indicates that they have shared the results of the consultation and no more,

People have been standing in that corner from the opening of the stadium, you're coming across as a bit of a totalitarian weirdo.

‘70% stating the preferred location for installation being Singers Corner.’

They took that on board and put it next to singers corner. Congrats.

But there hasn’t been an investment in safe standing next to the away supporters. I’m not entirely sure that Singers Corner was a “thing” in the early years of the stadium.

So they should have said ‘70% stating the preferred location for installation being Singers Corner, however we have been unable to do this because of x,y,z”.
Or do you think they did it just for fun.

Its going to get very full in the concourse on busy match days.

Could barely move in the concourse under blocks 10 and 11.

Steward today was saying they've got plans to extend it but will take a while. Temp measures will be opening up the back and having a bar selling beer outside.

Yeah they need it.
There were 2 bars closed in there so was wondering if they will open those for league games. B

You'd be certain of it, surely? The away concourse must be even worse. It was supposedly struggling last season with 2500. An extra 500 would be tight.

Although saying that, I'm sure Goodison park is far worse and there's many away ends in the Championship that have worse concourses than the South Stand.

I stood outside loads better. Noticed a couple of kiosks with shutters down that will hopefully be open on match days.

This confirms that the away area has been increased up to 3k
