I don't think anyone has a problem with competition for places, Norwich are in the same league as us, why is he not competing for a spot in their team ?
He's a good player and will improve our squad, but it does seem an odd move from the Norwich end.

Norwich are trying to go back up and we’re trying to stay in the division

Strange one from Norwich, have they already decided he's not for them. Why would you loan a player back to a rival. I hope we haven't had to guarantee game time for this.

It makes perfect sense for both teams.

Just like Maddison, Norwich loaned him out before his break out season. McCallum will get to play Championship football in a system and players he is familiar in higher division. We get a position of need and a familiar face.

This opens up the possibility of pushing Giles further up the pitch if need be.

It’s a shame we didn’t keep hold of McCallum in Jan.

Great signing, so much depth in this squad. Stark contrast to tha 2012 relegation squad. Full of genuine competition.

Just hope there aren't any silly grantees on game time, Giles has the shirt and Sam must fight to get it back. But what an option to have

So you haven't watched either of the games this season then

Wasn’t Giles playing for Shrewsbury as a wide left attacking player?

No we can't play a system with two left backs in the same team with one higher up the pitch. Remember when people suggested this for Haynes (can't recall who the other LB was at the time)

We won’t have made any guarantees ronins isn’t that way players earn the shirt they keep the shirt we know how mark ronins works by now
It's common practice in football and I wouldn't be surprised if it's been included in the deal.

Giles is a LW turned LWB, not LB turned LWB. It’s not like Stokes and Haynes who were both LBs and neither had any really good attacking qualities.

Granted, I’m sure some of our posters ‘in the know’ reckoned Wolves loaned him to us because we play with WBs.

Giles probably good fit in somewhere higher up the pitch if we needed pace there.

I think he looks a skillful player with a turn of pace. He also looks like a player that gets quickly and easily turned when in defence, albeit he had an impressive second-half against MK.

He looks more like a winger and I expect there is concern over an ability to defend when teams push us back so mccallum will probably be first choice

Why not send him back to a club he knows well?

Realistically, McCallum isn’t going to start week in, week out for a club chasing a return to the Prem. The likelihood was that he was going to get a shipped out on loan and if we wanted him, then it makes sense for all parties involved.

He isn’t likely to start week in week out here either

Brilliant news! Like Walsh I assumed this would be on robins mind. Real depth now. Mcallum really was on fire 2nd half of season

Sell or loan mason.

Good upgrade for the season

Now announce Walsh!

No chance he comes in and Giles is dropped he’s been one of our best players

That’s what doesn’t make sense. Norwich have one left left back and we have one who’s been one of the better players so far. Surely there must have been a club he could have gone to who was in more need of a left back?

Seems very quick how it’s all happened

Almost like Norwich have a new left back lined up isn't it 🤔

Giles has got off to a good start, but Robins wouldn’t have chased a player he very clearly favours to sit on the bench.

My guess is that McCallum sits the first game of two out on the bench before being a regular starter.

I don’t know what MR is thinking, but this could be a v good signing and opens up an interesting option to play Giles further up the pitch. That 3-4-2-1 could easily become 3-4-3 if circumstances call for it.

Norwich forum saying there's an option to recall in Jan?

Not sure how I feel about this. Giles has been great so far. Would rather the budget have been used on an attacking midfielder.
Have to assume Mason is off.

Dion McGee is still without a club since his release from Man Utd, absolute wand of a left foot as an attacking midfielder. Proper baller! Earlier in the summer was wanted by West Ham, Rangers etc, was on trial recently with Spurs but doesn’t looked to have happened for him.
