I don't see how that makes our society more unequal than it already is - unless, of course, you're just quite comfortable with the current status quo and don't want it changed.
It seems it's out there to take collective responsibility for one another's safety, for sure...I know this is a proper out there concept in today's world, but shouldn't you take care of your own safety? if you're scared to leave the house after dark then take self defense lessons.

What about the personal responsibility? If you feel scared in a certain situation, surely the onus is on you to learn the skills to deal with those situations.
