Absolutely mate. I do exactly the same. That woman hasn't a clue whether or not you are a risk to them.Naturally I cross the road when walking behind a lone female at night? Is it not a natural reaction for a man to do that out of courtesy?
But not everything is targeted at you / me / whoever. If I can look myself in the mirror and say I do all I can to make women feel comfortable, there's no reason to worry about people campaigning to highlight those who don't.I am asking what am I meant to do about the statistic about men killing partners?
This seems reasonable.I think there’s a fair argument that if we “good ones” can normalise respectful behaviour, including asking if a girl is OK if she looks like she wants out, crossing the road, not leering and shouting, etc. Then women don’t have to worry quite so much on a daily basis and it’s easier for them to spot the true wronguns.
I was pointing out the way you pointed out that statistic as if it's my fault or I was trying to say it doesn't happen.
It's no longer enough to think something is terrible and not agree with it, it's as if people need to clap when told, go on a march or go through a training programme on demand.
I'd love to see your evidence for that statement.
It's very weird that you take me pointing out that statistic as somehow trying to blame you.
I just think we need to be having this public conversation and you seem to think we shouldn't.
Like most things there's one particular incident that seems to kick off a bigger debate and this seems to be it. I didn't know the about the increase in women murdered by their partner until this happened but now I do it's pretty shocking.
I don't think it can be ignored.
Have you got stats to support your claim that white males are discriminated against in the job marketConstant down playing off male issues, always told to man up etc. white males are actively discriminated against in the job markets. Always seen as aggressors, children being taken away and almost always given to the mother with limited access. Paternity fraud which is 100% a male problem. The list goes on but this isn't the right thread for it. We could PM a convo if you fancy it?

Yes but again it's about the "campaign" nonsense. There will be marches, minutes applauses, random people trying to force division between men and women. Some dickhead men saying "women shouldnt be allowed out", some dickhead men saying "its a problem for us to sort out" (because they want likes from women).
Again it's not saying people on here, more a cultural thing nowadays and how life is.
so we should just shrug our shoulders and say 10 percent increase, probably because of lockdown and forget about it?
I got mugged at knife point by a gang of black teenagers in the centre of Birmingham when I was about 18. I’m shit scared walking anywhere on my own and worried about who’s following me. I’ve never managed to get rid of it so I’m sure if I was a woman and had experienced harassment or worse I would feel worried walking around on my own

The only practical solution is more police
I would never say no to more police but worth remembering who committed the crime that's sparked the debate.
If you go by the witch hunts across the media, social media, TV and Radio etc (not you) then last year I was racist if I didnt do something and this year I am going to be a sex offender because Im a male and I need to have a training guide on how to not be a nonce following women about at night.
defund the police, give us more police, make up yer bloody mind.
I 've never once called for defunding the police. I was very vocal about their reduction in numbers when the tory fan boys didn't feel fit to mention that actual defunding of them had been happening for ten years.
It wasn't aimed at you (or anyone), just a general throw away remark.
The other thing is I hope the media, social media, news etc are proud when it gets to the point where women are blaming men, men blaming women. At that point people will have forgotten the poor victim and their family.
It will all just be for political point scoring.
Every major British event is a point scoring contest on Twitter. With George Floyd people couldn’t wait to get started bashing white people, and the rest couldn’t wait to respond talking about Lee Rigby’s death as a counterpoint. Life is happier with no social media. It was never about the family or crime on those site, social media, especially twitter is an absolute cess pit, used solely for point scoring and trying to get sympathy.

I’ve had to get rid of it. I usually just follow my idols and the stars but even they chirp in with their opinion. Gary Linekar is one of the worst for it. Now I just follow the news on the BBC site and form my opinion from that. And of course here too.to be honest I use Twitter to keep up to date with things I'm interested in, bands etc.
I don't try to cultivate followers and I rarely post.
I do try to get opposing views to my own and follow a few tory/right wing journalists and news sites though admittedly I follow more left leaning ones.

I tried to do the same, but some of the left wing stuff is utterly bonkers, I'll stick to Alex Jones screaming about gay frogs thank you very much,
I'm not talking about people at those extremes, more like Spiked and Douglas Murray.
If only all Jones did was talk about gay frogs, he's far more dangerous than that.
Unless you're Dave Gorman.Golden rule of the internet, never read the comment section
I do like Douglas Murray, his book 'The Strange Death of Europe' was a tough read. I'm a big fan of Paul Joseph Watson.
