Save the Sky Blue Academy Petition (3 Viewers)

We have over 5,000 ST holders, we averaged 11.5k last season yet we cannot even get 2,000 people to sign a petition to try and save our Academy.
Whatever happens we need to all look at what our priorities are to try and safeguard our future.

No agreement after two seasons at Ricoh, no Academy after July 2017.

Yeah that's slightly depressing.

Even if people think other issues are more important, even if they blame SISU/CCC/Wasps/Ken Dodd's cat... surely they can believe having an academy is more important than not having one? Surely it's worth a signature? Doesn't take too much effort does it... and you can even hide your name from the public too.

(Do wish the site didn't now spam me to death mind you!)

Have you tried posting this on many of the Facebook CCFC pages? There is a lot more people who use them than SBT.

Get it on Twitter too, spam it to everything you can, it will do better with more exposure.

Will you be allowed to collect signatures near the ground on a matchday the old fashioned way?

Do not think we can wait that long.
it's so simple to do on line and we thought that everyone that signed would pass it on but it seems most have just signed it and hoped others would do the networking.

It is a little disapointing after a great start, but that's life and it's seems other things are more important to most.

Wont the effects on the Academy hit earlier than that though? If you were a player looking for a decent Academy now then knowing it might not be in existence in 12 months time is possibly going to affect your decision especially in the older age groups. With no solution past July 2017, at what point do the FA etc say that's enough no more?

There seems to be no urgency in finding a solution and a whole lot of mistrust from every angle

Is it mistrust or expediency?

I sent it around when I first signed it put it on FB, then got about 10 emails saying others had signed. It works!!
It does annoy me the attitude of our fans sometimes, quick to moan but just cannot be arsed to do anything about it. Fucks sake its a two minute form if that!!

They would be queuing round the block if we played Chelsea in the cup again wouldn't they!!

Funny I've noticed that as well.
Well at least I won't have to queue for that ticket, after all I am a season ticket holder ;)

Agreed. I signed it as soon as it was posted on here, it took all of 60 seconds.

Boxing Day, wasn't it?
Yeah, I thought it was boxing day. I wasn't in attendance but from the many recounted story's I've heard over the last four decades I'm sure it was played on boxing day, and wasn't the ginger haired ones "decisive" goal more of a "bicycle kick"?
Yeah, that sounds about right - a bicycle kick on boxing day.

Well with the amount of interest I think we just let the club die now after all it's just a matter of time and not many are going to miss it.
Until it is gone then they can all moan "what shit supporters we have and how no one did anything about it".
Well fuck um let it for our fans have no balls.

Something that's crossed my mind. When was the last time we sold a player that wasn't from our academy? I'm sure it was Jutkiewicz for around £1m (we also got 300k as a sell on around the time we sold Wilson). Before that, the last significant one I can think of is Best for £2m. Both of those deals combined are less than what the club have received from either Maddison or Wilson's sales so far. Not only is our academy vital to feed the first team, where would we be now without that £6.5m extra in the bank (that's if it stayed in the bank)?

Leon Clarke was the last none academy player we sold!

Just had a quick look and Keogh and Clarke bought in around £1m each. There has also been various nominal fees paid to us for some that came through the academy. I guess Christie is one of them. Plus the fees for the likes of Bigi, Turner and the continual payments for Sturridge (similar deal to Maddison where we get small amounts throughout his career). It's a significant sum in comparison.

Totalled up the outgoings from the last decade or so and even when you throw in the likes of Dann, Fox, Borrowdale (scoff) around 70% of our transfer income has come from the academy. If you go back slightly further it's even higher as you've got Davenport, Kirkland, etc.

And importantly none of them looked out of place. I was particularly impressed by leahy who had a torrid first few minutes. It could have destroyed him but the lad dug deep and improved no end. Harries second half looked assured and I think he has a big future in the game.

I would guess that the reasons Wasps went for this site is that it best met the criteria they had and was cost effective. I do not want CCFC forced out of there but the owners need to show more commitment in long term infrastructure of CCFC, to date they have failed miserably in that.

Although a bitter taste, if there are 17 other sites Wasps turned down are any suitable for CCFC to own and not be reliant on others for? If the Academy is so important to the club and its owners surely these sort of questions need to be asked and properly investigated?

that's the thing though 4 years on and CCFC have identified nothing that works...... two years in Wasps have picked their best assessment from 18 and submitted planning application........... begs a few questions of different sides certainly not least CCFC in terms of commitment imo

Nothing to do with CSF then?
