SCG Meeting Minutes (3 Viewers)

I have looked again at the 'offending' summary by Jan. It's here: http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/scg-meeting.66351/page-4#post-1124904

It seems to me that this is a highly useful piece of information for fans and it's hard to see what harm has actually been done by releasing it. When fans complain to SISU about "lack of transparency", this kind of communication is exactly the thing we want to hear. Open, honest summaries of what's going on. Instead of doing more of it, the club insist on heavily censoring it and only enabling a select group of people hear what is going on. When this is breached and fans are given a useful summary, Venus refuses to return. Petulant and exactly why fans have got a problem with the people who run our club.

I do think if "strict confidentiality" is in force then it was a shame to breach this, if Jan did so knowingly, however the wider point is that this kind of communication should not be locked down to a select group and should be normal form of general communication with fans (excluding anything sensitive and confidential). I think some on SCG like to ride the "embargo / confidence" train because they think it gives them power, status and authority.

I think it could do with a shakeup of people. Every "group" should have a rep, for example Italia should be able to go there and tell them what issues disabled fans have (cant get tickets, cant see, access is hard) etc etc.

If disabled fans have issues, they can then put them to Italia to put across at the meeting.

Yes, they have always had the confidentiality stuff but isn't it just until the minutes come out? So they just can't say stuff until they come out. If the minutes are all made up they can mention it then can't they and discuss the meeting?

I think that anything not in the final minutes cannot be discussed, so potentially some of the most interesting stuff will never come into the public domain. Whilst I agree any embargo/confidentiality policy ought to be respected, it's a shame that this is in place and that we don't hear such candid comments from the likes of MV regularly. It would break down the walls between club and fans.

I don't see anything in the post on the previous SCG thread that's particular controversial. Kieran Crowley has said the same things on twitter.

Nor me, I have gone through to see what his issue could be?

Although, some of it could be if Mowbray was pissed off at him as a lot is about him?

I think this is not about content it is all about control. Pathetic in my view.

So Mr Strange admits he represents himself and everything he asks is from him alone, everything anybody asks and the answers given have to be approved by him and the club.
Mark Venus feels let down because what he said was revealed, may I suggest that if he didn't want his thoughts revealed he should have kept them to himself.
If any of you haven't noticed there is only one section of this group who solicit questions to ask at SCG meetings. Questions from all fans members or not either here or from approaches at games.
Although the SCG WAS Basically a Trust initiative it is time the Trust left this group. Then everybody if they want to can just read Strange|clubs official communiques.
The club have said on numerous occasions that their communication with the fans had been bad, it's now actually worse. I suggest the fans would be more appreciable and understanding if communications were of a warts and all type ie good and bad news.
Finally when or if our present owners dissapear I hope that Mr Strange and his sycophants will be nowhere to be seen in any type of fans interaction with the club in their own imaginary fans representation.

I think the London Supporters group took a different line to Strange and he resigned as their chairman before he was pushed out.

So the Maddison money is not going out of the club, but it's pretty clear it's not part of the playing budget either. There's only one interpretation for that, and that's that the money is being spent on covering our ongoing operating losses. Paying the bills, paying the staff salaries, keeping the lights on.

Also I note TF's comments about how disappointing our position is and how we ought to be doing better. In a way it's no surprise but he said that to me after the 3-1 at Gillingham a few years ago, and Pressley got the bullet a couple of weeks afterwards.

Well one interpretation of that is that we are not self sufficient without significant player sales. That the 2016 financials can be expected to show an operating loss again (it is stated before player sales and interest payable), which means rolling up more debt. Given the fall in this years attendances a reasonable guess would be a similar situation for 2016/17 at the moment? Clearly not self sufficient in terms of operating, in 2015/16 the Maddison money may have balanced the cash flow depending on the amount actually received, but there are no big sales I can see (does anyone else?) for the current season .

I just do not see how they can get the experience/new blood in and afford it within the company budget to stay self sufficient, I think the SCMP is largely irrelevant. Happy to be corrected, but we will get a better idea in Feb 2017 with the 2016 financials

He wasn't going to be pushed out. He was absent at the AGM when the CCLSC took a decision, unanimously amongst those present, to object to the move to Northampton. When he found out about it, he objected and threatened to resign unless the committee overruled AGM and overturned the decision, which they declined to do. So he resigned on his own initiative. There was no move to oust him and nor would there have been.

How could anyone actually not condemn the Northampton move. I am not saying about attending or not, but to not actually condemn it!
Then again I suppose it is a move closer to London.

am I right in thinking the final approval of the minutes comes from CCFC?

Reading Jan's post I'd guess some of the transfer stuff could be sensitive, but I can't remember what was in the public domain at that time.

The fact is, if you don't want fans to know it, don't mention it in the fans consultation meeting. That may mean those who attend feel a little less special, but it stops this nonsense and allows fans to feel they are all being listened to not a select few.

I can't help but think a lot could be done by the person who does kierens job now, a weekly q and a.

Obviously not the controversial stuff, but things like transport, ticketing etc.

Make it a lot less serious and formal and it helps make the fans feel closer

if they don't want to face crowds (something that is less and less of a problem at ricoh), even if they went on cwr and answered pre sent in questions from fans

It was more that he did not want to break with the club over it. His view, and fair enough, but others disagreed so he chose to depart.

I'd do it through their own media, have a weekly event. Just post the article or even video.

Kieran's old tweets from 3 days before Jan's post indicates info was in the public domain then -

And you're quite right, don't say anything that you don't mind if someone else shared.

If Reid is inded on "huge wages for L1" then I suggest it is not money well spent and I hope he hasn't gobbled out too much £££ we could have used to sign others who could be making a difference for us right now.

To be fair Grendel there shouldn't be anything at an SCG meeting that should be confidential why mention anything that is?
It's not particularly confidential though is it really?
More about releasing sufficient info where it can be scrutinised IMO.
At best he was justifying the budget available to the manager, where a large portion of the fanbase are yet to be convinced it's close to last season's or the one before.
Hardly commercially sensitive to our competitors, more so to the ten thousand left interested in the club.

No it wasn't but if anything is then why disclose it to a group of supporters?
