I thought that Sandra Garlick's "new stadium" committee had been given the task of thinking up ways of improving the matchday experience. If that is the case, it's a duplication of effort. Or am I mistaken?

Okay, Despite that I have been informed that the SCG has been inaccurately positioned, whereby people are of the belief that the SCG is a Council like figure that can discuss matters with the Club of the nature detailed in the thread, but according to several members I have spoken to this simply isn't the case, in affect the SCG was designed to help improve Matchday experiences at City games and therefore issues of a more serious nature with respect to the business are not the SCG's appropriate forte.

Any issues discussed as such are not included in the SCG's scheduled meeting plans and are off topic discussions raised by individual members of there own feelings and concerns.

That to me was a highlight to the issue, Maybe you should have tried it Noggin.

Only thing I would say to that Robbo is if that is the remit for the SCG then they should stick to it. Messrs Ward & Strange seem to think the SCG can now discuss, transfers, new ground, ownership issues etc ....... all of which are not about enhancing the match day experience. They can't have it both ways can they?

Enhancing the match day experience for me would be to improve the team and results

:thinking about: or am I mistaken?

My issue with the SGC is they lack legitimacy. They are now dealing with the club as the fans representatives. Who made these the fans representatives?

Groups such as KCIC and GCBTTR never claimed to speak on behalf of fans, just to offer a viewpoint. The Trust have elections, which legitimises them to speak on behalf of at least 2000 fans.

The SGC seem to have been made the fans representatives by the club. Which makes them a bit like a candidate in a late 80's Eastern European country, vote for whoever you wish, once they have been approved by the Communist Party.

Find our more about the Supporters Consultative Group and how to have your say
COVENTRY City Football Club established the Supporters' Consultative Group (SCG) in January 2006 to give the Sky Blue Army a direct route through to the Coventry City boardroom.

Meeting every three months, the SCG provides the perfect opportunity to highlight any issues or put forward any new ideas that may benefit both the club and its loyal fans.

All it takes is an e-mail!

The SCG is made up of fans' representatives and high-ranking members of both Coventry City Football Club and the Ricoh Arena.

And all you have to do is put down your queries or suggestions on e-mail and forward them to [email protected] where fans' representatives will pick them up and raise your important issues at the next available meeting.

So make your voice heard and help us continue to mould the Sky Blues into a club both you and the city can be proud of!!! Play Up Sky Blues!!!

and

The SCG was invited to attend following a decision by CCFC executives to include fan representation at future board meetings.

On the agenda was the state of the pitch at the Ricoh Arena, an update on plans for the new stadium and training ground/academy integration and an update on proposed activity in the January transfer window.

Directors of the football club agreed with the SCG that the state of the pitch had been unacceptable and were encouraged by the announcement by Wasps that they have committed to relaying the surface within three weeks.

The new pitch will allow the club to pursue January player targets in line with Steven Pressley’s preferred style of play.

Also discussed was the long-planned stadium move and the proposed integration of CCFC’s training ground and academy.

The SCG representatives were taken through commercial documents concerning the proposed move to a new stadium and brought up to speed on the current status of the training ground/academy integration project.

Chairman Tim Fisher said: “We are delighted to have invited the SCG to board meetings and look forward to working with them in what will be a constructive dialogue on issues concerning the running of the football club, the future development of the club’s training ground and stadium and improvement of fans’ match-day experience.

The scg has spent a hell of alot of time discussing things outside of the remit you just mentioned. We saw huge ammounts of spin thrown their way from Fisher and Labovich, we've even seen them discussing Webber Shandwick etc.

However I'm not sure what you mean about not being able to discus things in that thread? Don sent them an e-mail asking them to come and start a thread here to liaise with us, they discussed that and dismissed it out of hand seemingly without objection (assuming the minutes are accurate) that shows exactly how much they care about our views.

What is it I should have tried?

Just a thought why don't we have a thread on the forum "SCG Questions" anyway?

Hopefully it can be closely moderated and the SBT forum can prove its point to those doubters.

I am happy for the questions I put forward the other day to be included.

Indeed, Wouldn't that be for messer Strange who is now director, what he chooses discuss with the SCG is obviously his choice.

What did two people going to a board meeting acheive that the normal SCG meetings could not have acheived?

He isn't a director of CCFC - he has invited by the directors of Otium to attend their Board meetings as fans representative. He has no rights, powers or privileges at those meetings

I think the SCG is well intentioned and the people on it are too. However I think it is more of a tick box exercise for the club (whoever the owners have been). It does not seem to be well connected to the supporters either in general or by its representatives. I think it has forgotten its roots and terms of reference, with far too many members to be effective. It has achieved very little, has next to no powers or structure it sticks to and by certain more dominant members coming across as closely linked to the club (they may not be but that's not how it seems) unfortunately comes across as anything but independent. The farce regarding the appointment of representatives to the CCFC board for me summed it up.

I can not help feeling the SCG whilst having some good people on it serves to massage a few egos and in the end delivers on next to nothing but claims a great deal. Just my opinion, which could be changed should the SCG actually achieve something meaningful like asking the Club the difficult questions and telling us all the answers. I wont hold my breath waiting

Totally agree. I think a board for questions may help then its up to the members of SCG to act and prove folk wrong.

I don't know the guy. I am sure he is an incredibly passionate supporter.
However I am must be careful drawing conclusions from notes. It just seems he went we should be cautious of that and that was it no go. Why was he not asked to explain, why should we be cautious. Where was the work around. Where was the attempt to resolve any concerns and make it work.
I am not sure if they fully understand the concept.
A thread on here moderated for abuse. It can be opened by Nick.
The SCG can peruse it. If a certain question gets heavily liked and supported on here and keeps getting asked.
It is raised at the SCG meeting. They discuss the merits of the question and then take it forward to the Boardroom.
They feed the answer back in the next SCG meeting. We get the answer on the notes.

They get to show that they are a truly representing the fans. We get to feel involved. We have a channel for asking questions.

To reject such an idea and use the term 'cautious, without any other explanation. To me shows a lack of understanding.

I have met him personally and he is indeed a very passionate supporter and has helped out the Mrs with her CCFC based dissertation (on Sixfields) quite a lot. I don't know why he thinks it would be a bad idea to have a moderated thread here, though I have his contact details and can put the question to him. I don't know those in the LSC all that well but every time I've gone to a game with them I haven't detected much sympathy for SISU.

Edit: Have just put the question to him for you Don, I don't get the opposition to it either.

Why do you think Mr Strange resigned?

As he was the LSC representative on the SCG should have resigned on principle from the SCG dont you think?

Davidson took over as LSC representative. Strange didn't want to force a boycott on the members so resigned due to that. At the moment he is very sympathetic to the club's actions and is a willing Yes man from what I can see.

Strange and Ward peas from the same pod I suggest you wait to see what happens when their tenure as Chairman and Vice Chairman is up:facepalm:

How could the LSC have enforced a boycott on the members?

Not physically but just by adopting an official stance maybe making some feel uncomfortable. Think he just wanted members to feel able to make their own decision.

Didn't bother me since I lived too far away to go even if I wanted to.

Okay thanks for the clarification I must admit I haven't see enough just recently to keep up to date with it all.

I went to one years ago when Ranson was still at the club, basically spent an hour listening to Natalie Cox complain about the lack of tampon machines at the Ricoh.
Good to see they're still as productive.
Yep , pointless exercises.
Was one of the meetings recently used to moan about the use of electric cigarettes in the ground ? Got to get your priorities right. :sarcasm:
