Maybe we're just sinking back to our natural level then after years of punching about our weight, this is where we belong. At least that is what our attendances reflect at the moment, that this is our natural level.
Most clubs fans would have wanted those relegation battles and 35 years in the top flight.

£249 isn't cheap? For 23 games and priority sale for cup games? £10.83 per game? I take my grandad £191/£8.30 pg, and 2 JSB's £41 (inc JSB membership) £1.78 pg. other than Bradford I doubt there are many if any with ST's as cheap as us in league two let alone league one.

It's all about the product , the level of the teams we are playing and the population we can draw from.
A city the size of Coventry should be bottom half of PL .Thats where are current history suggests but Sisu won't get us there.

Pompey had a season very similar to ours in the division below. They were favourites for promotion with the biggest budget in the division yet were getting drawn into a relegation battle leading to the sacking of their manager and eventually finishing 16th. They also had an embarrassing FA Cup exit to local non-league team (Aldershot).
Despite this they averaged over 15K at home and with season tickets £70 more expensive than ours are on course to sell over 10K.

We had 21,000 average 2006, 21,000 2007 and 19,000 2008. So that's about 15k/16k season ticket holders I'm guessing? That's a remarkable drop off. You can blame our supporters all you want but the stats don't lie since SISU have came in attendances have decreased every season and so has the product on the pitch.

Yep I was wrong. Couple 1,000 less than Chelsea and Villa. More than Saints and Leicester though who are probably the most similar clubs to us.

Can't compare 80s crowds to now for any club, hooliganism poor stadia pre-PL crowds were down everywhere just look at the crowds Arsenal and Newcastle used to get. Post Italia 90 the whole scene changed and crowds improved everywhere.

Spot on. I remember gates of 8k in the top flight. Families stopped going together. Some games you had to fight your way in and then out again. We did have the occasional full house. But it was because of a sea of red tops not sky blue. Those that never went in the 80's will have heard what it was like. But hearing about it and being there are two different things.
How about an away game? Drink in a pub together and it could get attacked. Have anything to do with your club on your car and it would get smashed up. Go on a train and you could get attacked by supporters of clubs you were not playing. You only got the ones you were playing as you got off. Go on a coach and watch the bricks come in.
