Cheers - somebody understands that the council are on the hook for the money if ACL don't repay!
Do you know how council budgets work?
The thing is we keep seeing these sort of comments made without the slightest bit of evidence that payments can't be afforded. We also know that we are in Northampton for one reason only.....to try and send ACL to the wall. Shall we wait until the accounts are shown before we keep saying that the taxpayer will lose out? And then wait for certain posters to make comments about that years accounts not being realistic because of certain eventsACL's accounts have shown the arena to be a going concern each year so far. And each year they make more money as they build up the business. And this will be good for our club once we have an owner that don't want to rip off the taxpayer, CCC, a charity or anyone else that stands in the way of so called investors making a fortune.

Ooh, ooh I do! Choose me!
They get all this money from Central Government, council tax and business rates and stuff, they squirrel loads of it away in their "reserves" while continuing to slash vital services. Obviously making sure that HoS and Chief Executives continue to earn six figure salaries! The Councillors (i.e. people off the street) then get the chance to play monopoly with people's lives and decide which services to decimate, whilst still getting their expenses. LOL. It's a hoot!
Would be a bit daft taking out the loan if relying on a club that wasn't paying any rent or looking like it intended to do so to make it "less liable" to repay it then?
Certainly a risk for the organisation making the loan.
I think that it would have been factored in though.

Multi-faceted leisure amenity? I like it. Much better than community asset. However, what actually goes on there for the community apart from gambling in the casino, the gym and psychic sally? This isn't a piss-take I just wondered what "community" events took place there? After all that was part of Richardson's vision, wasn't it? A 365 facility.

"our asset"
What does that mean?
Didn't they provide the Sisu 'self interest' Charity free football for a year?
Don't know what's on but car park A and B are always full, with car park C pretty busy last week on a couple of occasions.
Anyway it's our asset not CCFC's so whats your interest?
The other thing is the Gym finished years ago and is now all hotel rooms.
Try and keep up to speed !!!
Mary_Mungo_Midge;657155. It's a bit like going on a conference and some cheery-faced fool mentions the word 'workshop'. I involuntarily gloss over. Sometimes said:Think that Alexei Sayle once said " If anybody uses the word "workshop" and they're not a carpenter, they're a twat".
Wise words.
I honestly don't know dear chap. My 'multi-faceted leisure amenity' was a bit tongue in cheek to be frank. I don't see it as a community asset. I do see a properly developed complex as being something that does - and should do better - in bringing income into the city and providing jobs.
I don't live in the city and therefore have no idea what 'community events' may take place there. Being honest, I don't really like anything that's got 'community' in it's title or ambition. It's a bit like going on a conference and some cheery-faced fool mentions the word 'workshop'. I involuntarily gloss over. Sometimes, it induces rage and I feel compelled to strike them. Roughly and repeatedly. Maybe that makes me a bad person?!?
there continues to be a shortage of hotel rooms for some functions and that needs addressing.
It's moving more to corporate usage, but although it is expanding in that area there continues to be a shortage of hotel rooms for some functions and that needs addressing.
Ah, "our". Another one for the Xenophobe Club.

Perhaps there is a divide if you are not living in Coventry ?
Seminar.....
what are you sweating about. you've been telling us for weeks that your "sources" know that the new stadium is definately going ahead which means we are all stupid and you cant wait for the new stadium. so this thread doesn't really concern you, move along
We proved that there isnt a shortage - the NEC is far bigger and has less available rooms
You miss the point again.
A major issue in expanding business conference trade is lack of hotel rooms.
The rooms need to be provided to get the business first.
The fact that you can get a few rooms this week is irrelevant if there is nothing on.
You can always get a room at the NEC but they are still building a new 170 room hotel.
Didn't you used to live in Bedworth?
What makes you think that other than Bedworth is now my nearest football team !!

I just hope that if you ever stop becoming a Coventry taxpayer then you immediately cease having an opinion or get involved with any exchanges regarding the Ricoh Arena.
Unlike you ?
The hotel space around the NEC is also shared by the airport and the nearby business parks, it's not like a hotel across the road from the Ricoh which would have a narrow market otherwise.
Sorry, thought you had mentioned it so I asked
This post made it seem like it : http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/27919-Am-I-jinxed & http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/14688-Its-all-down-to-tactics-Thorn-out
Sorry for making assumptions.
Just because someone describes themself as 'Suicidal of Bedworth' and 'Cursed of Bedworth' does not mean that they actually come from or live in Bedworth, ffs. It probably means that erm, maybe, err, because reasons. You mug.
