In Lisbon today. Been up to the Sporting Stadium.
Chatting to a few staff.
Kids were in City gear. The staff said Vik is the best player they have seen at Sporting.
At their end, after the season just gone, they can't believe they got him for 20m. They were clued up about the add ins too.
They have a song that mentions them "pimping Coventry" for him too!!
They (yes, they are just stadium staff - I know) seem to think he is staying, even when I mentioned Arsenal/Liverpool. They said they are doing everything they can to keep him!!
I think for Sporting there's a price they would accept but it will probably kill their chance of retaining the domestic title overnight and could even lose their Champion's League spot next season. Porto and Benfica are very capable as always. They'd have a lot of work to do to replace his goals, just like we did.

It has seemed all summer like there isn't a great deal of credible activity around Vik perhaps because he's worth more to Sporting right now than he is to a Prem club - which is wild considering they all could have had him for maybe 1/3rd of what Sporting are asking.

Arsenal dropped nearly £50 million on a defender from Bologna this summer. Wrong priority, it’s a forward they really need.

You posted 'Palace on the cards it seems', how did you think people would interpret that?

Your previous source has gone, who the hell within the club is leaking now, causing these unhelpful waves?

You do know players have friends within Coventry don't you? It's not always some big conspiracy leak from the fucking tea lady

Palace is on the cards. They want him.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Hamer stay there.
I don't know about this. He has made public his release clause. Someone in a panic on the final day needs to bring someone in and has £16m burning a hole in his pocket. Who else are you getting for that? It's a nice quick deal.

I think their management probably know more what their priorities are!

Havertz was very effective in the second half of last season in that striker role and Jesus is returning to fitness.

If Palace really do want him then of course he'll be off.

Would be gutted to lose him as he's one of the best in the league, but to be honest earlier in the summer I was expecting him to leave and would have been surprised to see him start the first game of the season.

If Sheaf goes, I am sure we will be ready with his replacement. Madsen sounds like he may already be coming in anyway.

Same for Wright. (We've been linked with wingers all through the summer)

Don't want either to go, but if we get 11M+ for Sheaf, or 13-15M for Wright then that will be it. Both players will want to go if there is a serious offer, which will likely be from the likes of Fulham, Palace, Brentford etc.

In all seriousness there are a few clubs that want Sheaf but no one yet has looked like the win pay anywhere near what we want.

Sheaf isn't going to force a move as he's not the kind of person so it's a case of pay the money we want or he stays and as of yet no one is anywhere near that.

This is all coming down to timing. £15m is a fair price for Sheaf and if Palace offer it he goes. We’d then potentially have that cash + and/or Yok and Hamer. But we need it in time to plug the gap.

Nail on head tbh

Palace know what we want and will meet it if they decide to pull the trigger.

Sheaf would go there.

The other interested clubs won't meet it at the moment and happy to sit it out until next summer and get him cheaper. Palace may choose to do that, you never know

Glad you’re not making financial decisions
No way we let them go for that little
