Havnt seen a pile on

I am just shocked at people criticizing lampard for not dropping the current number 1 keeper at time of his joining before he actually fucked up.

But don't remember same posters clamouring for dovin back in when he was dropped originally. Maybe I'm wrong and they were going mad at robins but I don't remember it.

He was never number 1. He came in because Wilson and Dovin were injured, then kept in for no reason whatsoever.

Whereas Wilson came in for Dovin to try and add some communication at the back and was dropped again three games later.

He was the keeper when lampard came in. Unless he shit the bed in training it's understandable lampard kept him in as changing the keeper is usually a bigger decision than outfield positions.

As soon as he fucked up he was out. Before that he made some decent saves Vs hull so why would you drop him really.

He let in almost every shot he faced!

Lampard could shit in the centre circle and you’d be on here extolling the fertiliser benefits.

You'd have to be on crack to think that Collins or Wilson are better than Dovin

Injured as it happened and bizzare that he wasn't subbed off in that game as it cost us the points from memory, Sheffield Wednesday?

Anyway it's probably served a purpose because he's come back very commanding of the situation and moreso IMO !

Even more madness Lampard did for more games eh? And probably more relevant considering he’s actually our manager.

Lampard never dropped Dovin

He just stuck with the keeper who had been playing, which for a new manager coming in is pretty standard. Then dropped him after 5 games. Ideally he would have done it earlier but it’s hardly madness, the decisions are perfectly understandable.

The real mistake was Carr not bringing Dovin back in as soon as he was fit (Sheff Utd).

I really don’t get this excuse. The man has eyes. I’d hope he’s have watched all our games before starting. He takes training. The idea he’s forced to pick the same team Carr was is a weird one. But nothing can ever be his fault I guess.

It’s just logic. Lampard had what, a day and a half of training before his first match? He won’t have learnt anything from that. Sticking with the same keeper to start is reasonable and you may as well give him a fair crack of the whip if you do. Collins actually had a decent game vs Hull too.

Obviously you’re unable to be objective on this subject though.

Hull was Lampards fourth game, what are you on about? Before that Collins had faced 6 shots on target and conceded 4.

He was never going to drop him after Millwall or hull. And after just one game would’ve been harsh. So basically you’re ragging on him for Collins putting in one more bad performance than he should have, it’s extreme nitpicking.

I don’t think any keeper had covered themselves in glory. But the meme you guys are trying to create that Robins didn’t see Dovin and Lampard did is just delusional.

Collins was poor for a while before he was dropped. That’s all there is to it. It got so bad that he became a meme outside of just the club.

I don't think it's really that out there to expect an incoming manager to have a basic grasp of our squads abilities. We knew for weeks it was going to be Lampard so surely you'd expect him to be vaguely prepared.

There's these amazing new inventions where he doesn't need to actually have been at every game to be able to watch and judge performances.

Bit of re-writing of history here too. We could all see he shouldn't have been playing and numerous people were questioning why he kept getting picked game after game. Not everything is about an agenda, you can be pleased pleased he's finally seen the light without declaring it some genius tactical decision.

Not buying this tbh. Collins started the season as number 3; it would have been very easy for Lampard to put the no.1 back in at any stage.

Carr - do we know if Dovin had, had a full weeks training? Irrespective, its very odd blaming the caretaker manager for selections 5 games after the new guy has taken over. Lampard would surely have been watching the games since Derby (QPR?) and should have had a pretty good idea what he was taking on.

Didn’t say it was genius? It was a mistake to pick Collins, but an understandable one since he’d been playing. Then having picked him it’s fair to give him a chance. So I don’t hold any of it against Lampard.

I’m not trying to “create a meme”

Robins didn’t pick Collins, it’s not on him. Thought dropping Dovin was a mistake at the time and still do.

Don’t think Lampard has done anything particularly wrong with keeper selection yet, it was just awkward that Collins ended up playing.

Well you can believe me or not but I only read someone saying Carr dropped dovin and I'm pretty sure he was dropped earlier in season too. After that game he let goal in near post. Can't remember who it was against now. Robins dropped him for Wilson iirc

And he probably had his reasons but unfortunately it led to a prolonged period with shit keeper. I'm glad dovin is back in now and I expect him to stay on consistently now.

You see this is the problem in a nutshell. In a desperate grab for validation of their 'Robins Out' stance people who are starting to lose faith have to try and make out things were so much worse than they actually were.

How the f#k did anything Robins did lead "to a prolonged period with a sh1t keeper?" Explain this.

Collins played 0 games under Robins. Wilson played 3 league games including our first clean sheet of the season and the 3 cup games (2 clean sheets). Dovin was firmly no1 at the point Robins left having played the previous 5 games and then Carr was forced to pick Collins because of injuries... and yet people with an agenda want to frame Lampard picking Collins over Dovin against Portsmouth a full month into his reign as somehow being Robins' fault? Mental.

Edit: and this on the Sheffield Wednesday player ratings page of all places!!

There were two weeks between the Sunderland and Sheff Utd games. And then another 3 days before Burnley. And Dovin was on the bench for the latter two. Surely he was fit.

I'm just saying, I think Lampard would have stuck with whoever was starting to begin with. And I can understand not changing, especially given both of their experience levels.
