Dovin/Kitch/Simms come out top of the pile. Has to start forming that spine of the team for me.

Fair play to those sticking their hands up to take a pen, even if they missed. Takes bollox every time no matter what round.
Why was Bidwell 2nd btw. Ridiculous choice

I suppose nobody else volunteered and he had to go somewhere, you wouldn't put the weakest penalty taker on last!

Odd comment. He seems focused on his football?

Just tiring a bit of the “I’ll die for this club” and playing to the fans stuff when he’s not done much on the pitch. The shirt thing just seemed more about that too. I dunno rubs me up the wrong way.

Desperate to build his profile that lad. Wish he focused half as hard on his football.

I've got no problem with it. Nothing wrong with a bit of passion. He's now playing in one of the top ten leagues in the world, he's young, give him a break.

Eh I didn’t like it about O’Hare either but at least he’d done some stuff. Just something I’m not a fan of in footballers. Like neck tattoos.

I'm not a fan of tattoos regardless of where they are.

...... but if he was aloof or disinterested you would no doubt slate him for that judging from your recent posts!

Bassette is just an enthusiatic 20 year old, living the dream, with his life full speed ahead of him. While he's a bit hit and miss at the moment, if he turns into the real deal we will benefit big time, so lets just support him and hope he lives up to those hopes.

I’ll add him to the list of people we’re only allowed to post positively about here. Back to slagging off Joel Latubeaudiere who was only two years older when we started on him.

It's not for the want of trying though is it, he always puts effort in.

I think the celebration was just because he's not had much to celebrate, we didn't win either of the games he scored in and he's only scored 2.

I do think it's a bit strange that he's somehow becoming a cult hero but he's not done anything wrong.

Don't disagree, but he is a kid. He's gonna do dumb sh*t. Has strong Vik vibes about him as far as seeming more mature and articulate than most. Genuinely think he could be a monster in a season or two. I can see him and Dovin going for Hamer levels of cash before too long.

Have you watched his recent interview? If not, I'd recommend it. Just seems a lot more naturally assured and confident than most, to me at least.
He speaks well in the interview, but the constant diving, kiss-blowing, and celebrating a penalty shootout in the FA Cup 3rd round like you’ve just etched your name into immortality suggests he has some way to go on the pitch.

Yeah, course he does. He's a kid. He's miles ahead of where Vik was at the same age so for me, I'm overlooking a weird goal celebration or some daft dives in early games. Think he'll go a long way in the game and be a big player for us while he's here.

Still expect Dovin to go to shit. Based on nothing other than he plays in goal for us!
But if the sky blue keeper curse doesn't strike then yes, we should make money on him.

In what ways?

Vik was playing in Sweden at the same age. Bassette is starting games in a stronger league. Vik turned 23 the summer he signed. Bassette turned 20 in Nov.

I think he's shown he has the attributes to progress in a similar way to Vik, physically and mentally. He's already started cutting down the diving bullsh*t, too.

TBF Viks record both at club and country was far better at 20 than Bassettes is.

There were two weeks between the Sunderland and Sheff Utd games. And then another 3 days before Burnley. And Dovin was on the bench for the latter two. Surely he was fit.

I'm just saying, I think Lampard would have stuck with whoever was starting to begin with. And I can understand not changing, especially given both of their experience levels.

Fit but how fit? Fit enough for an emergency. Also perhaps a case of keeping him involved. Helping him to learn and acclimatise to the match day experience in the UK.

People can chunter all they like. Managers will pick the best players available. For me, Dovin looks better for his time out of the side.

We move on folks......

only thing ill mention is bassette taking his shirt off and presenting his name to crowd, bit of a strange one.

Shock horror footballer shows passion, you see lots of footballers do the same.

If he didn't show any emotion people would be moaning, he don't care.

He's a keeper. The only way they come off the bench is in case of injury, and there weren't any other keepers on the bench so you have to assume he was fit to play. And it was a head injury/suspected concussion right? So 2/3 weeks recovery he should've been fine.

Dovin might look better for his time out but the team was much worse for it, having a competent keeper would've won us a few points.
