I thought the way it was promoted was nonsensical and irresponsible scaremongering, I regarded it as nothing but a well made dystopian drama. Were you still rather young when it was aired?

Well only dystopian because it showed a well researched reality about something we did come pretty close to a few times in the 80s and how ridiculous any pretence of “winning” was
It also brilliantly exposed the pointlessness of Protect and Survive and all that supposed war prep. It went to shit in about 2 minutes after the blast
Also fantastic how it also focused on human stories as well and basically the military would run everything and you would have to work in forced labour just to eat.

Do they get a points penalty for this?

Potentially but unlikely at this stage.

Legal Consequences of Failing to Pay Professional Football Players

In professional football, timely salary payments are not just ethical obligations but legal necessities enforced by robust regulations. Here’s an in-depth look at the consequences of failing to pay players, based on FIFA rules and regulations:

FIFA Regulations and Articles

1. Article 12bis of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP)

– This article specifically addresses the consequences of failing to meet financial obligations towards players. It mandates that clubs must pay players on time, and delays beyond 30 days can result in sanctions.

– Clubs found guilty of delaying payments can face disciplinary actions, including transfer bans, fines, and points deductions.

2. Article 14 of the FIFA RSTP:

– This article allows players to terminate their contracts with just cause if salaries are not paid for more than two months. This provision ensures that players have the right to seek new employment without the risk of contractual penalties.

In such cases, the player can claim compensation for breach of contract, which often includes unpaid salaries and additional damages.

That’s right! Do you remember the cartoon ‘When the Wind Blows’? Pretty traumatic too tbf and ridiculing the government advice.
I remember When the Wind Blows film was late 80s film brutal and scary film especially when I was about 10 yo and talk about nuclear bombs was rife in the playground. Original cartoon book was by Raymond Briggs (Snowman & Father Chrsitmas etc.) but it wasn't cute and cuddly for kids! It was a highly critical take on official government naive advice of what to do if a bomb went off. Genius bit of work. Probably not as powerful/good as I remember it though 🤣 Might give it a watch.

They should get deducted points just because they’re Sheffield Wednesday
