I've got pretty much similar lines in private circles and do understand what's too far. If it is too far then an apology should suffice in most cases. I think most are missing the pointvthough, I didn't say the punishment was right, I was more bothered that shmmeee thought it was fine. Its his opinion and he's entitled to it in the samecway I think he's a twat for holding that view.
Honestly, I've found that most people who are happy to make offensive jokes about others, are the same people who have a meltdown if anyone makes a joke about them. I mean, just look at people like Trump - world's most fragile ego.
But Trump isn’t (intentionally) funny, he’s just mean.
Has nothing to do with what side of the political fence you sit on and should be concerning for everyone. Most people are hypocrites and would be happy to see someone who's joked about something they don't like taken down without seeing the bigger picture.Honestly, I've found that most people who are happy to make offensive jokes about others, are the same people who have a meltdown if anyone makes a joke about them. Most people aren't funny, they just have an audience who are too dim to realise.
That’s a rather elitist view. Do you have a list of comedians it’s acceptable for people with an IQ above 100 to laugh at?

Poor job at interpretation there. I'm talking about your regular joe, most people aren't comedians.

It's not rocket science. Do you want people arrested for telling jokes, even very poor taste ones, yes or no?What's an example of the bigger picture?
This is the problem though. Were saying you can only tell jokes if you’re good at it? If I follow a disabled kid around making disabled jokes that’s clearly a crime. If I make a misjudged joke about a national news incident like Grenfell or an arsonist killer or a killer doctor or whatever, I shouldn’t face prosecution IMO.
I think you're reading way too much into what I'm saying, my point literally is that most people aren't funny. Your misjudged joke is probably also not funny.
Hang on, a serial murderer and someone who imprisoned his daughter in a basement and raped her repeatedly is OK, but the other two are on a different level?!?I agree, I'd joke too on Fritwell or Shipman. But Bradley or the philpotts and to do it publicly is a different level.

If it is we're all in trouble if the police start monitoring this forum. Apart from Slowpoke, genuinely hilarious. And that’s fine, no one will laugh and I’ll get valuable feedback on my comedy. But should not being funny be a crime?

Well I was talking about arrests, you have examples in this thread. It's just a yes or no answer. Not an attack, just genuinely curious. You said taken down before, not arrested, which is an escalation. I would like to know an example of the bigger picture for context.
Snowflake. It's some stretch really to be so offended by that comment that you think it's worthy of prosecution.Fk me, a new low even for this place!
So it's ok to mock the deaths of 6 kids. Do you not think other Derby fans at the game might have been affected by this? In the same way it's not just Bradley's parents who find what happened last week offensive.
I was with you on jail time being too much, but surely you can see why this would be upsetting?!

Fair enough, I guess I misunderstood your point. It shouldn't be political other than literally everyone should be against it, although social media suggests a depressing amount are all for it.Why so combative? I never said anything about anyone being arrested.

Yes thats what i am saying, i think hate speech laws are dangerous too as who decides? But you're taking it even more off topic with that.To be fair, and I didn't want to be dragged into anything, we have discrimination and hate speech laws in this country, so if it is deemed someone has broken the law they shouldn't be protected by the "pre-tense" of comedy. You do appear to be saying above that people should be able to make jokes without the fear of arrest.

If you say so.Isn't that just a get-out-of-jail-free card for discrimination? "I was making a joke".
I've not once said anyone should be prosecuted for anything and don't see how in any of my posts that Ive repeatedly said nobody should that you could interpret it that way.Snowflake. It's some stretch really to be so offended by that comment that you think it's worthy of prosecution.

Are you offering your services Rupes?Perhaps he should look for a better solicitor then.
What I'm alluding to is that what you say in your social group of like minded people is different to positing something on a public forum for all to read including those who might be directly affected.Hang on, a serial murderer and someone who imprisoned his daughter in a basement and raped her repeatedly is OK, but the other two are on a different level?!?
Seriously?!?
And before you call the public, you've said *and* public in your different level, you've still split the two!
This place has hit a new low!
