Shipley in the middle? (1 Viewer)

Does he deserve a go in there at Walsall? He's done a job on the left for best part of a year which is not his natural position, but I've not been convinced by Kelly or Ogogo and Doyler clearly needs a rest in that game. I'm worried he's a bit lightweight in the tackle but does have lots of energy to cover ground. Bayliss unlikely to be ready and as a two I'm not sure they're strong enough but perhaps Shipley alongside Ogogo next week?

Not for me he’s too lightweight first touch isn’t good enough and not the greatest passer of the ball.I think we go with Kelly & Ogogo next week at Walsall.

I think Rob could be right about his idea (although he gave me a lift yesterday, so I had to agree), although I suspect MR will want to get as many minutes into Kelly and Ogogo as possible. Think Shipley will play, maybe on the left with JJ on the right. Will Thomas be cup tied? Maybe Jack Grimmer gets some game time too?

Ogogo and Shipley in the middle with Kelly coming off the bench after an hour.
Doyle needs a rest, I’d also rest JCH and Thomas.

I think he has the opportunity to rest a few. Doyle can be rested. JCH rested.
Grimmer back in, Bakyako Kelly, Shipley and Jones.
Also Hyam for Davies who I suspect has a knock from yesterday.
While SISU will no doubt restrain MR's selection as a cup run is a vital source of income, he should none the less look to the league as a stronger priority.
Possible team for me:

Burge,
Grimmer, Hyam, Willis, Brown
Thomas, Kelly, Shipley, Jones
Bakayako, Chaplin

Bench: Doyle, Ogogo, Sterling, Thompson, Hiwula, Andreu

Highly doubt JJ will be in the Starting XI. He's a way off from starting a competitive game just yet.

Shipley isn’t strong enough and isn’t fit enough to play in the middle he is always blowing out of his arse after 70 minutes

The other thing about game time and resting people is that we have the Checkatrade game on the Tuesday night, so you would think some of the recent non starters (e.g. Shipley, Bakoyoko. will probably play both games), No point resting someone on the Saturday, to then make them play on the Tuesday. Those coming back from injury (e.g.Jones, Grimmer) will probably not be up to playing both games.

Would agree with most, don't think Kelly has been terrible and had a decent season last year so cannot be forgotten. Ogogo hasn't shone due to injury but was always the eventual replacement for Doyler. I would give him a subs appearance or two in that position to see how he gets on now and again.

Not literally of course but MR's has responsibility to try and have a cup run yes. Income is a required necessity. This puts restriction on going for broke and trying some wholesale changes.

Football Manager in wanting to win as many games as possible shocker.
