Well it is the same old problem as I see it given shit keepers to coach sorry but you can't make players any better then they are doesn't matter who coaches them.
we have 2 very weak keepers and until that is a dressed you can blame who ever you want...........

Oggy for a knighthood I say having to work with such dross.

That has to be the stupidest thing I have ever seen on this forum.

Same here but what I look at is multiple managers and owners have been and gone and they have all retained his services. That says to me he's doing a decent job. Also in the last few years with the likes of Westwood and Murphy goalkeeping has been one area we haven't really had to worry about.

The only thing I know about his coaching is that when we scored from a free kick earlier in the season I remember whoever it was who scored saying it was something they'd been working on at the training ground with Oggy.
Almost. It was Murphy when he went round the keeper

What a fine keeper Konstantopolis (or whatever his name is) has turned into. Can't say it is entirely down to Oggy but has had coaching from Oggy.

Surprised Otis isn't on here, considering he is on every other thread and seems to have raised issues about Oggy in the past?

What difference does a goalkeeper coach make to the results, team selected, system we play and tactics. I still fail to see this surge in Steve Ogrizovic must go mantra almost every time we lose a match. I don't know if Oggy is great keeper coach or not, I know he was a great goalkeeper though and there's a fair few keepers playing in various divisions at the moment who have been coached by him. Can anyone explain what makes a good goalkeeper coach ?

Don't believe he was keeper coach at the time DImi was here, and the fact he's improved since leaving us would be a fine argument for the keeper coach at the time with us not being up to the job.

Konstantopolis was always a good keeper, he had one of those times were every little error ended up a goal but his record before and since he was here proves he was okay. As for Oggy not being goalie coach what was he then ? He was here

Its just people looking for someone to blame... I think its when we don't have homegrown players to grown, we blame the staff most closely associated with the club?

I don't see how a goalkeeping coach can be responsible for scoring 4 goals in 10 games.
However Oggie always makes me smile because he always looks as though he would rather be somewhere else.
Can't blame him actually.

I've said it before and , i'll say it again - what is the one common denominator in our decline ? Sam , Sky Blue Sam - he's the root of it all . oh and maybe George Dalton could be thrown in there too .

Hmm now when Oggy was at the academy, there was a school of thought that we did well at U18 level because we liked to bring in players with a good physique, who could bully opposition teams of the same age, but were found wanting technically once they played with the men. I could buy that argument, from what I saw.

As for his abilities as keeper coach... I haven't seen anything in terms of keeper progression or otherwise to have a clue if he's any good at his job or not. Therefore I can only assume that, because the manager keeps him, he must be alright, at least.

Now i know he is a legend in these parts but that should not alone secure you a job for life.

TM has varying issues around him. Some I believe could be the back room staff. Oggy is such a figure head and is steeped in the past of all managers gone before him. He rises to his feet and goes through the clip board of tactics like he has year in year out. Has TM lost some control in this area on a match by match basis? Oggy is the one consistent ever present under every recent manager and the failings. Has he allowed Oggy too much freedom due to his status at the club and the result is some undermining of TM's management and coaching ability?

Sometimes it's hard to release those that do a decent job but you know you would prefer to be elsewhere. TM should wrestle back full control of the match day regime and for that matter full coaching responsibilities if he is to stamp out some of the problems. I think it's time Oggy departed to pastures new or take up a different role at the club.

Or am I being too harsh on the legend?

Think you are been very harsh particularly in this day and age of football clubs consistency getting rid of managers and backroom room staff quickly - Oggy has lasted a long time and is plainly highly rated in the football world and would not find it difficult to get a job elsewhere -Glady the records show We do not seem to suffer from poor players in goalkeeping area under oggy and currently nothing has changed , as oggy has had some impressive keepers under him in his time Hedman, Murphy,Westwood, to name just three - He is also i imagine is under a budget so has two young goalkeepers - I personally think Charles Cooke will go onto good things and currently sits 9th in the goalkeeping stats in league 1 which is not bad for his age and experience and oggy and the club will be happy about that as he can and will only get better at 21 - he actually went 5 games without conceding a goal after his debut and actully holds the coventry city goalkeeping record of the longest time without conceding a goal and it is well noted he did not concede many goals when we had a settled back 4 -(this last statement also goes for burge) Reice - cooke also has probably the longest contract at the club as bigger teams will come sniffing - Lee burge is also on a fairly long contract, so the club do not ovbiously see any issues in that area but do see issues in the the rest of the defence which has been well documented - if you keep on changing the defence you will unsettle any goalkeeper

If Oggy was that highly rated then why did no Premiership teams come in for him when we were relegated? Why did no Championship teams come in for him when we went down to League One?

Oggy is obviously happy where he is - His credentials speak for themselves - I am sure that he has been tapped up in the past but his loyalty is with CCFC and at his age is comfortable in his surroundings and not wanting to be moving around - he has played for many managers in his role of goalkeeper coach and not one of them has decided to replace him or bring there own this in itself speaks volumes - they all obviously rate him highly or he would not be there

Or do they not get rid because they fear a fans backlash? I am told he is a good coach by an ex youth team keeper I know.

You know what is also a constant since our demise, our fans. I think we should get rid of them and get some new ones. Also the fact that we play in Sky Blue, clearly an unlucky colour so lets change to red, also the Ryton training ground is unlucky, lets get a new one. I think the elephant on the badge must be unlucky too, I think it should be changed to a parrot which I think will be more lucky.

All these are 100% proven facts as to why we are under-achieving.*

*unless we put a string of results together again and like Oggy, all the above will be classed as legendary connections to the club.

It would be interesting when Oggy does eventually leave/retire if he wrote an Autobiography.
He has been here so long, under so many managers and several owners that he must have
loads of tales to tell and have his own opinions on what has gone wrong.

Would he spill the beans on any juicy gossip or just accept a pay off to go quietly
and keep it all to himself?

But not the only constant... playing in sky blue for example. It's such a bullshit argument, it's a bit like saying we've had a shit NHS for years so it must be the fault of... let's think of a constant... vending machines?
