We as SWFC fans are lucky Palmer didn't simply walk off the pitch, he was well within his rights to do so in my opinion, theres no place for it.
All I can do is apologise to the bloke and hope he does play in the cup game.
It was obvious to those around me on the Kop that something insidious had happened, players don't react like that to nothing, sure players will wind oppo fans up, why not?, fans are allowed to give them stick when they sky a shot or skew a cross, you get some back when they score, take it on the chin, its football.
Its shaming any Owls fan descends to the level of a bloody neanderthal and sends us hurtling back to the 70's and all over the news for the wrong reasons ...again.
anyhow..Well played, thoroughly deserved the win and great support, and once again apologies aren't enough but Sorry Mr Palmer, I hope the idiot is banned for life, I can take the banter when we lose, i'm used to it, but that level of behaviour is beyond the pale...good luck for the rest of the season cov

You silly sod.** idiots - there was more than one, and why if it was obvious to most something was going on did the whole stand sing “get the bastard off the pitch”? Perhaps get the bastards out the stands would’ve been a better option?
Not buying it mate sorry, your club seems to have a deep rooted problem football is better off without.
You silly sod.
No problem mate...although get the bastard off the pitch is shouted by fans in most every ground in the country, i doubt the vast majority knew of what had gone before, but yea...We have a problem thats why I acknowledged it and apologised for it, you don't accept that...fair enough, its your perogative, for myself I simply wanted to put my feelings across** idiots - there was more than one, and why if it was obvious to most something was going on did the whole stand sing “get the bastard off the pitch”? For no other reason than to put the player and his family 1st we should take a step back and listen and watch over the next few days to what's going on and what is coming out of the club. Whatever Kasey decides to do on Friday we should respect, as he now has to protect his family and his family well-being before anything else.
Sadly, for him this will not just go away Friday, he will have to decide how he wants to handle this on a few levels. I wish him and his family the best and know we as fans show him what we are all about. We are a some of the best fans in the country and are a family club, but also from a City known for its diversity. So we all know how we feel, but lets make it about the care of Kasey and his family, listening to him could be a good starting point.

@2024/25 League 1 Champs?
Your reaction to my post #80 above rather proves the point I made in the second sentence.
#sad
I agreed with and liked your first post, thanks for that and we know most fans are decent. However I travel home and away and I've never heard us or anyone else ever sing 'Get the bastard off the pitch'No problem mate...although get the bastard off the pitch is shouted by fans in most every ground in the country, i doubt the vast majority knew of what had gone before, but yea...We have a problem thats why I acknowledged it and apologised for it, you don't accept that...fair enough, its your perogative, for myself I simply wanted to put my feelings across
you referred to me (I assume) as an idiot, for pointing out there’s a bigger problem? have you seen the whole of their Kop singing to KP after he’s obviously in some distress and clearly points out he’s been subject to monkey gestures?
have you also seen the various posts regarding the recurring incidents of racism from their club over the years?
I don’t agree with you that 99.9% of their fans are decent (although a large majority probably are) and I’m entitled to my view - if you don’t agree with it then you’re entitled to yours, but to call someone an idiot for calling out racism is not cool
Don't get it. Why do people align themselves so closely with fans of their own clubs, when 99% of them will be complete strangers? You're not automatically the same as all other Cov fans because you support the same club. There will be a large number of non-racists in the Coventry fan base, and there will be a large number of non-racists in the Wednesday fan base. There is definitely racists in both fan bases, as we know it's a huge problem in football itself. Why are you trying to gain some sort of moral high ground, based on the club you support?
and fair play for that, but these things need calling out by the decent majority amongst us
feeling bad about it and apologising after the event is one thing, but that’s not going to stop the problem - and it does seem your club has it pretty bad at the minute…
anyway, let’s just hope the individual and club are dealt with accordingly and both get what they deserve
me? wind your neck in pal, when did I try and gain any moral high ground and when did I ever ‘align myself’ or try and say Coventry City are any better?
I’ve actually made a post earlier on the forum stating exactly the opposite, and that we can’t claim ‘holier than thou’ off the back of even one racist incident (the problem pre-match at Stoke a year or two ago).
You’ve just made yourself sound like a massive prick here, because the point of my post was calling out the racism that seems to exist at Sheffield Wednesday, over an extended period of time and highlighted by the events on Saturday. Don’t try and make it something it isn’t - and if you don’t have anything constructive to say on the subject then jog on
You're giving the Wednesday fan on this thread a hard time because the club he supports has a history of racism. So what do you want him to do? Support another club? He feels annoyed and angry about what's happened, so he's come on here to offer an apology which he doesn't owe. I'm assuming he didn't racially abuse anyone, so he doesn't owe anyone an apology and certainly doesn't owe anyone on here an apology.
There are obviously going to be racists who support Coventry, no one on here owes anyone an apology on their behalf either. You don't need to highlight the issues with racism at Wednesday, it's been widely reported and also looked at by other posters on here. Focusing on the issue of racism at one club is also not going to solve the wider problems in football, or society in general.
Agreed, but he came on this thread, and whilst I’ve said fair play for the apology it’s not going to change anything is it?
On the subject of our club however, I have to say personally I haven’t heard or seen any racism in the years I’ve been going to games, although I am now aware of the Stoke incident. I think if you read the Wednesday threads it’s definitely something running through that club, and without highlighting it what is going to be done??
No need for any virtue signalling nonsense
It's not Sunday LeagueOnly needs 18 of us to donate our shirts!
You've come across as "hostile" towards this Wednesday fan, but they agree with you. And again, he doesn't owe anyone on here an apology, so you can just let him have it without calling it out. You don't know why they're here either, it could well have affected them really badly, and they just want to talk about it.
It has been highlighted. More importantly it's been highlighted in the national media and by multiple people of influence. It's for Wednesday to sort out the culture at their own club, and for all of us to deal with the problem in football and wider society.
Virtue signalling in this case being what? “I think racism is bad”?No need for any virtue signalling nonsense - it doesn't do anything - best thing to do is just beat them again in their own scummy backyard
It’s just been posted here though, however I feel, or this particular Wednesday fan, is insignificant compared to KP and his family.
We ALL need to do whatever we can to call it out, and stamp it out - staying silent or thinking it’s ok because other people are dealing with it isn’t good enough I’m afraid.
I’m done with replying to you anyway now, I don’t want to detract from the issue and I’m not getting into an argument unnecessarily
Appreciate your support, but I have never heard 'get the bastard of the pitch' before only from your racist fans. I stand to to be corrected. No problem mate...although get the bastard off the pitch is shouted by fans in most every ground in the country, i doubt the vast majority knew of what had gone before, but yea...We have a problem thats why I acknowledged it and apologised for it, you don't accept that...fair enough, its your perogative, for myself I simply wanted to put my feelings across
Anyone know how a ban from football works logistically? Do they actually get upheld in a practical sense?
Our own fans gave Dabo racist abuse on social media - it’s not a problem to a specific club
