Now imagine if he actually had a contract and was playing for a club... No thanks I don't need this sort of bullcrap to be associated with my club. He served his time for his crime and like anyone else has the right to get on with his life. That said I would sign him on a provisional contract and let him train while he appeals his sentence and conviction. Should he win his appeal then I would sign him for our team and should he lose his appeal then that provisional contract would be null and void.

That's nonsense. We don't need to read his case in full as he was tried in front of twelve citizens who found him guilty.

Due process was given a chance. The jurors considered the evidence and will have made judgements based on that and witness credibility .

What I find somewhat distasteful about this is that the victim has been vilified and now leads a life with a change of identity as if they have been guilty of a crime whereas Evans uses his wealth and privelege to parade himself with his girlfriend or wife or whoever she is in front of the media as if he is the victim.

The jury system actually rarely gets it wrong. Evans is a convicted rapist and that as it stands is that.

What a bizarre post. When you're both drunk it's stupidity on both sides but when you're sober and she isn't it doesn't take a genius to work out you probably shouldn't go further. Evans knew what he was doing and therein lies the difference.

Ched Evans hadn't been drinking as far as I know.

He's already had two appeals rejected as well, one against the verdict and another appealing the sentence. Both rejected.

Why are people debating whether or not he is a rapist? he was convicted. He's a rapist and no way would I want him at Cov. Why would we want to give someone a chance again after King used us? No loyalty we'd just be used to put Ched Evans' rapist face in the shop window for the summer. No way.

Wish I hadn't bumped this now as people are just repeating themselves, and frankly this discussion has been done to death.

What I would love to see is the reaction to the conviction being overturned and Evans being found innocent. It really would be fascinating to see those who haven't even looked into the case and who have just taken a spineless political correctness point of view.

What is even more hilarious is the fact that the decision not to sign him by United, is not because he is a rapist, but ultimately down to money and image.

Yes, he's done his time, but he is protesting his innocence. He has shown no remorse whatsoever.

If he is innocent then the right and proper thing to do is to clear his name before returning to football. As it stands he is guilty as charged.

People who have served their sentence are hounded for life for certain offences where certain lobbies are involved. Marlon King was, and Evans now is being regarded as a pariah for a sexual offence because certain groups never regard him as fit to work ever again.

Compare this to the case of Like McCormick who drove while drunk and caused a crash that killed two young children. He served his time and is now back as club captain at the club he played for at the time. Were these women's groups lined up at the Ricoh a couple of weeks ago when he played there (in his home city)? What McCormick did was infinitely worse than what Evans did yet he continues his career regardless.

I am not condoning either player here. Just pointing out the inconsistency of public reaction.

McCormick didn't set out to hurt anybody, don't get me wrong he's a grade A tosspot and I'm in no way condoning it, but come on Evans raped a girl that he knew was too drunk to consent. He's a rapist c**t who should rot imo.

There is a lot of hypocrisy, but I'd rather take McCormick than Evans. McCormick admitted it and from all accounts is a decent man these days. He never set out to hurt anyone and made a massive mistake, almost unforgivable. We all make mistakes but if you admit to it, serve your punishment and move on to be the best person you can, who is anybody to stop that? Ched hasn't done that. He set out to rape someone, then denied it and still does to this day, without having cleared his name. It would also be a massive disrespect to the girl he raped if he played.

Just ask yourself why his mate was not guilty of rape and he was? She also had a history of promiscuity yet again the prosecution were able to get have this disallowed in court from being heard. I could go on but you must surely get my drift? Yes Grendel most cases are heard and the right decisions are made by the jurors after first being 'instructed' by the judge. Sometimes the arrival of judgement itself is 'unsafe' as I believe in this case to be. Like I said go read all about it not just a few media headlines.

From a footballing perspective, I'd have him here in a heartbeat. There's so many other perspectives though.
In my opinion, he's done his time and there shouldn't be anything stopping him going back to work and earning a living. The 'role models' argument is utter rubbish, football is full of players who are anything but; note Joey Barton, Suarez, Terry, Giggs etc. Contrary to popular belief from mob protest groups, most kids don't research the background of a player, see what he's done wrong and copy it.
In the majority of other professions, people will get a similar job at a different company as you don't have to declare any sentences you have had. Tough to do in football as it is so widely covered in the media.

But before he comes back to football, he should focus on clearing his name. No matter the result he should be able to come back, but if he's so sure that he should be acquitted then that should be his priority.

Sorry, I don't buy it. McCormick was responsible for the deaths of two young children. By setting off to drive on a motorway when drunk it is completely foreseeable that there were likely to be tragic consequences. It was almost as bad as what Lee Hughes did.

Evans probably didn't set out to hurt anyone, contrary to what you suggest. The victim was in a hotel room, drunk, with some other footballer, and hardly acted totally responsibly. Nobody really knows what happened in that room except that nobody died. This doesn't even come close to what McCormick did, yet he turns out for Plymouth without a lynch mob baying for his blood every week.

As I said, massive hypocrisy, fuelled by feminist activists.

It was because the woman was seen in a brief conversation with Mcdonald on the street and agreed to go back in a taxi and into the hotel with Clayton Mcdonald, Evans turned up to the hotel room alone and let himself in with the key about 15 minutes later. It seems the woman didn't know Evans would be going back to the hotel room and claimed she couldn't remember anything which happened in the hotel room.

Whether you agree with it or not that seems to be the reason Mcdonald was found not guilty and not Evans.

He's already had two appeals rejected immediately after the verdict, unless he has new evidence he won't get it overturned.
