I hope Sakamoto gets chance to show what he can do with a run of a few full games in the Championship. It would be great to see a full game impact where he has license to get forward.
That might be too much for Robins who tends to be pretty conservative.
But I hope we don't just see him as a last 10 minutes sub when we are chasing a game. That would be a real waste.

Think we’re going to see a lot more use of subs anyway and he can get on in so many positions even if he doesn’t start I think we’ll see a lot of him.

Takes time to adjust to the game over here , its a lot more intense than most other leagues and the fitness levels are off the scale

I was pretty annoyed that he didn't get on tbh. Game was asking for it.

Yeah agree. Think robins was kind of alluding in his interview he couldn’t take MVE due to the job he was doing on Clarke, hence probably why Saka didn’t come on.

Shame he didn’t come on as I thought he was almost brilliant vs Swansea.
That's to say he looked like, when in full flow, would create loads - in fact would’ve done had Wright not miss controlled his pass/he hadn’t hit his through ball to Wright too hard.

I agree he’s more of a winger. He should be tried there in an overwhelming attacking role and see how much he messes up a defence and gives the likes of Simms chances in the box.

He’s a wingback who can fill in at AM. I think he’ll manage.

I like the look of what I’ve seen of him so far, but I think he’s in danger of becoming a kind of wild card/utility player, who will come on and work hard when we need to plug a gap, but isn’t given the chance to excel in his chosen position. And that probably isn’t going to happen without a change of formation.

He played well against Swansea, but what we needed was someone to link the strikers and midfield. We moved the ball better yesterday with Palmer and Ayari than we did with Sakamoto. Sakamoto did well in the wide spaces and dribbling the ball but couldn’t link up with the passing.

Sakamoto is new to England and will need time to adapt. It’s a long season.

Sakamoto has played more at wingback than AM. He came in for Palmer last minute when we had no AMs. We then went and loaned an AM. The evidence really doesn’t support this theory.

No doubt he has, but what I’m saying is that the positions we’re asking him to play don’t make the full use of his skill set. I have no doubt he’ll work hard there regardless, but it’s an unusual way to make use of a clearly talented player.

That wouldn’t necessarily surprise me as Jodi Jones played most his games in his last season with us as a wing back. He’s not a wing back though. In the nichest bet of all time, I’d be willing to bet if MVE gets injured, Eccles (not a RWB) plays RWB before Tatsu. He will be used in that position when chasing a game, not against strong opposition or seeing out a result, because he’s not a right wing back. Unless we go four at the back (not going to happen) he doesn’t really have a position in the team.
