Shipley will be 21 next year and had a full season of mens footy. Next year we'd have Andreu, Kelly, Doyle, Bayliss. 2 attacking mids and 2 defensive mids. Shipley as a 5th choice CM is a worry to you?[/QUOTE)
Think he will be higher than that Andreu yet to prove himself ,don't think Kelly is that good without Doyle playing alongside him and Doyle himself will be 37 Bayliss will probable be sold by our owners.

And if we have 2 season ending i juries again? We are already down to having shipley as a starter
If it was really up to me I'd be working on Shipley as first choice LB for next season. I don't think he's tricky enough as a winger, creative or imposing enough for an AM/DM. He's decent in the tackle and in the air and gets up and down the pitch very well. Think he'd make an excellent LB supporting a more creative player in front of him.

I like him and he can play left back.

He played left back one game early in the season and did well. Think it might have been Blackburn but not sure.

Agree - he is very involved but often gives the ball away when trying to create something: he might be better often concentrating on defending and letting others focus on the attacking options. He has got a decent shot on him from range too.

Centre mid v Blackburn along with Stevenson. Got torn to shreds.

I remember that bit when he was CM with Stevenson, but I am sure there was a game where he dropped back to Left Back and was really good.

Just can't remember which it was.

It was Shrewsbury Nick and I agree he did really well that game at left back

I'd rather develop the excellent Camwell.
No reason that couldn't happen too. It's part of my issue with our negative tactics that it is very hard to give game time to squad players when you're never comfortable in games.

Shipley at left back-not a bad shout to be fair.

He had my vote to start there on Tuesday. With Grimmer out and with Willis and Stokes as our fullbacks it gives us very limited support in attack. Especially if Vincenti is getting picked at right midfield, we can then play Reid on the left for some more conventional width.

But then isn't Reid better there with Stokes, given Stokes at least is comfortable defending? Not sure I'd fancy Shipley supporting Reid on that flank.

Just wondering about why Bilal Sayoud has not featured for us at all.
Never seems to get a look in despite injury problems which might have given opportunities to him. Now that Reid is back it is difficult to see a way into the team for him.
Surplus to requirements or still very much one for the future? Would be good to hear from anyone who goes to U23 games.
I thought Kyle Finn might feature earlier this season too, wonder if he is progressing well?

Is it really any different to Grimmer behind Jones earlier in the season? I think Shipley is prett comfortable with the defensive side of the game and has as good an engine as anyone to get up and down in that role.

When we play with 1 or even 2 DMs we have to have more than we had on Tuesday from the flanks. Tuesdays slight tactical variation in the first half was to tuck Shipley and Vincenti inside, presumably with the intention of giving us a bit more through the middle, but it seemed to pull the back 4 wider across the width of the pitch as the flanks were a bit more exposed and resulted in us being opened up with balls through the middle for pretty much the first time this season that i can recall.

I'd go with that as I've the requirement of two left sided fullbacks pencilled in next year for my squad with stokes moving centrally or a makeshift left back.

I think centrally the sides build but this summer the outer areas of the team needs rebuilding in the wider areas.
