For me there is an elephant in the room which we are tending to ignore: I think we're understating the importance of owning 50% - 100% of the Ricoh. It's obvious that Coventry City Council (and possibly the Higgs Trust too) won't deal with SISU, yet that's the only reason SISU really got involved in the first place. It's possible that SISU were naive in the extreme when they took over CCFC, by believing that buying the stadium would be straightforward.

Forget about the recession and downturns in the economy - that's where hedge funds thrive! SISU are not a bank, as Dulieu insists on repeating to us - they are the owners of the holding company which is historically and currently trading at a loss. It doesn't matter if they claim they've 'lent' us £30m or £300m - the debt is entirely theirs!

We're now in a position where we're owned by a company that has no interest in the club or its future, has installed a board of puppets whose main task seems to consist of spouting nothing but spin and 'mis-communication'. From the fictitious 'meeting with the Council' from Dulieu, to the recent 'Fans Fund To Buy Players' from Brody, there has been nothing to change my opinion of this sorry bunch.

1 point and 1 goal from the first four league games, and a sorry exit to a 2nd Division team in the league cup tells the true story: if we don't sign a striker soon, we will be relegated.

The present situation is unsustainable.

I agree with all you say, it is obvious that AHT and council will not sell to sisu as they know exactly what a pile of sh=ters sisu are. Please forward your post onto the deluded hibbert on another post

SFrankly i do not see why they didnt buy it out of administration in the first place it would have left more of their funds to invest in the team - that has always bothered me and I still cant come up with a convincing answer.

OK, by that logic why should the Hoffman consortium take over the club before it goes into admin?

First and foremost thanks to Oldskyblue for the information. I enjoy your posts as they seem informed and objective, I have no doubt of your love of the club but the way you share your information is without emotion and that is hard when you see things you care about falling apart.:claping hands:

I feel that the solution - if there is one - is going to involve a long and difficult road before we see any progress; even maybe involving League 1 football (something I really do not want to see.), but things in the past have been unsustainable and we are seeing the results of financial mismanagement. The list of clubs that are and have been in this position is long and CCFC will probably not be the last.

Would the view of fans be any different if SISU were transparent in their dealings with fans (and people like KD and Brody weren't such bull$h1tter$)? If they gave us all the financial information, leaving nothing out and they gave us their plans to 'make things right' would we be more tolerant? Or are we too clouded by the fact that we are football fans and the product demands wins meaning frugality and balancing the books is incongruent to a successful team in our position?

SISU have lost trust of the fans and whether they like it or not the fans are huge stakeholders in the club without them there is no way forward. Hoffman, should he come in, is going to have to make similar decisions on finance and balancing the books. The only difference is Hoffman is a fan and has an emotional attatchment (one would hopefully assume). Will going forward involve a backwards step first?

SISU need to go for the simple reason trust is no longer there. I also think that if there is any money to come in from new investors it needs to be channeled into buying the stadium, perhaps also the wages for a few loan players. That will generate the income streams outside of ticket sales, the entity that is Coventry City FC needs to be the ultimate benefactor of those income streams and not a side issue that just happens to be using the Arena. With the money coming in from the world class facilities (fair enough I only saw them in July 2010 in the middle of the off season) there will be a platform upon which to move forward. At the very least owning the Ricoh makes the CCFC brand more appealing to other investors.

The question is can we, as football fans, accept that the price of success in the long term may mean a hard road with hard choices and potential League one football in the short term?
