I can't for a second believe you're being serious. The council and London Wasps have said no talks until legals are dropped, sisu have now come out and said legals will be dropped under conditions. That is a step towards one another. Stadium talk is most likely complete bollocks but let them be shown up for it. What needs sorting is this club surviving to next season, the only way to achieve that is them talking. This is a step towards them talking.Sort what out?
They aren’t building a stadium legals dropped or not. If you’re really buying that then I really do pity you in the same way I pity RFC.
Wasps have always said they’ll negotiate a deal out once the legals have been dropped.
Where’s the value in the statement? There isn’t any past whipping up fans like you into believing it’s an olive branch. You’re being duped.
Ironically, it's people who didn't want any pressure on the council and wasps who seem to be against the thought of it.I can't for a second believe you're being serious. We need talks to start, if that doesn't happen we have nowhere to play next season. For talks to start something has to give and most likely on both sides as nobody will want to be seen to back down. SISU have given some ground by saying there is a route to dropping the legals. Now let's see CCC and Wasps give some ground and everyone start talking.
If we're just going to dismiss everything SISU say then things will never move forward.
Yes survival is number one priority. So hopefully SISU get called out about their stadium “ambitions”.I can't for a second believe you're being serious. So your preference is the club has nowhere to play and at best moves out of the city or at worst ceases to exist rather than pushing for the council and Wasps to now talk to the club. Brilliant plan. She can drop the legals now then and the second part of her “olive branch” will happen anyway. Problem sorted, talks start. I can’t believe that you and Nick aren’t seeing through this when it’s so opaque. I can only assume that you’re buying into the new stadium part of her “olive branch”.

Why, from their point of view, would you give up your leverage before negations start? She can drop the legals now then and the second part of her “olive branch” will happen anyway. It shows sisu though doesnt it.So your preference is the club has nowhere to play and at best moves out of the city or at worst ceases to exist rather than pushing for the council and Wasps to now talk to the club. Brilliant plan.

What is lost from getting them in a room to talk? Who cares if it's her way of saving face.If I’m not serious then I must be taking a new stadium serious. In which case you can’t be serious.
She’s saying I’ll do what Wasps has asked but with a condition that talks on a new stadium start. Really! Are we going to take that seriously? She’s saying B won’t happen unless A happens and then we’ll do what we need to do to make B happen when A is pet in the sky. And we’re supposed to buy this. Why?
I find it incredibly bizarre that given the situation we're in, only weeks away from homelessness, that our own fans are arguing that the parties involved should continue to refuse to talk to the club.
Think about what you've just posted. 'She’s saying I’ll do what Wasps has asked', so that's surely a good thing. 'but with a condition that talks on a new stadium start' a stadium nobody thinks is getting built so why the problem talking about it.She’s saying I’ll do what Wasps has asked but with a condition that talks on a new stadium start. Its an olive branch to open talks .. it's a hint at willingness to drop the legals.I’m not arguing that they shouldn’t talk. I’m arguing that the statement has been worded in such a way that people will take it face value and start tagging it as an olive branch when actually it’s nothing of the sort.
It’s one thing they’re never going to do and one thing that’s going to happen anyway should they drop the legals.
What is lost from getting them in a room to talk? Who cares if it's her way of saving face.
There's no guarantee of anything coming from it but it wouldn't be any worse than now.
Its really that straight forward. Nobody is planning their seats in the new stadium, just saying discussions should be started to see where it goes.
I doubt anybody thinks a new stadium will be announced from it, a long term deal and ccfc not moving or going bust might do though.
Point out to me where I've said a new stadium is being built.
Why so worried about the thought of them discussing things and negotiating?
Even if it's negotiating us at the ricoh, who cares? Why is it worse than it is now?
On the basis of the statement there’s nothing to talk about. Just drop the legals already and 50% of the statement will come true anyway. That in its own will be progress for a sisu statement.
We know where a new stadium will go. Nowhere. Why have they felt the need to float this fantasy again if not for distraction? And more to the point why are you giving them enough credit to even consider making a statement of “just saying discussions should be started to see where it goes”? Fucking hell, if you got an email from the African lottery saying that you’d won a gazillion pounds just open the attached zip file to claim would you open it to see where it goes? I’m starting to think you would.
Anyhow. I’m of to bed and bowing out of this thread at the same time.
This gives everyone a way to claim victory. That's why it's a fucking olive branch not because of some imaginary stadium. The council have requested sisu drop legals. Sisu have offered to drop legals on condition of decent rental and new stadium help.
That is enough to facilitate a meeting. In this meeting they should ideally be able to agree a long term rental for the club on condition of the legals and stadium plan being shelved.
Sisu can say 'we didn't need a new stadium as we've secured a long term deal that generates needed revenue for the club which is what we've been saying is needed all along, we're happy a new stadium wasn't required for this'
The council can say 'we've prevented any further costly legal action which will benefit the taxpayers of Coventry and kept the football club where it belongs'
London Wasps can say 'we're committed to being part of the community and that involves working with the local football club. we can now investigate sharing retail and ticketing spaces/costs for the benefit of us both'
Win, win fucking win.
I'm not saying this will happen because I've supported this club for too long but compromise and negotiations could lead to a good outcome for all involved. You don't give up your leverage before negotiations, you don't give your best offer before negotiations - this is basic stuff.
Anybody bullshitting can be shown to be bullshitting in an open and honest discussion. For a compromise to be reached then they all have to have shown to have given ground and won something back.
You seem to be focusing on that rather than what people are saying. Its strange as nobody is even saying it is going to happen.Point out to me where I’ve said you have.
If I was the council the first thing I'd be doing tomorrow is identifying a suitable piece of land and then putting a statement out saying we believe this to be a suitable site, would urge SISU to purchase it and we will fully support the building of a new stadium in any way we can. That would well and truly screw SISUs plans up.Has anybody got an idea where a plot of land might be to build a football stadium on within the CCC durasdiction ?

Common sense really isn't it. Maybe people are worried about bullshit being shown up? The way the usual council fellas are acting they seem a bit rabid. Usually a sure sign. This gives everyone a way to claim victory. That's why it's a fucking olive branch not because of some imaginary stadium. The council have requested sisu drop legals. They'd need to do a better job of it than when Matton tried and identified a site that the club couldn't purchase and was already having houses built on it.
Ironically, it's people who didn't want any pressure on the council and wasps who seem to be against the thought of it.
Exactly, why would they give up a negotiation tool before they discuss things? Why will it? The Council has shown that it cannot be trusted, why would SISU trust the council?
Do you live in Coventry ? If so where is this suitable piece of land ?If I was the council the first thing I'd be doing tomorrow is identifying a suitable piece of land and then putting a statement out saying we believe this to be a suitable site, would urge SISU to purchase it and we will fully support the building of a new stadium in any way we can. Really? I’ve written to every councillor in Coventry twice now reminding them of their statement made at the time of the sale, asked them how it would look for the City of culture to no longer have their historic FA cup winning iconic sports club in existence etc. You mocked me for doing that so I can only assume that you’re addressing your post to yourself. On that note I really am going to bed and signing out of this thread. Goodnight.
That's why he said if he was the council be would be identifying somewhere.Do you live in Coventry ? If so where is this suitable piece of land ?
