SixReasons Not To Go To Sixfields this Sunday - updated in response to comments! And I still haven't had a single answer to point 6...

1. The cold, hard reality is that every City fan inside sixfields helps the justification of the move to Northampton – when looking at the big picture, individual reasons for going don't alter that reality.

2. A short-term move could have been justified if a new ground in Coventry was guaranteed but no new site has been purchased, no planning application has been submitted etc etc. There is no concrete evidence that a new ground will be built or that moving out of Coventry is temporary.

3. Support the team not Sisu! We can go to away games or even watch from Jimmy's Hill, but for this Sunday the best option is…

4. On 25 August we can support a Sky Blues team at the Ricoh - Coventry City Ladies FC (£5, or £3 for concessions – kick off 2pm).

5. Let’s think about the next generation of City fans – not going to sixfields is short-term pain for the long-term gain of getting CCFC back to Coventry.

6. If people want CCFC to return to Coventry but go inside sixfields, what is the suggested strategy instead of not one penny more and boycotting Northampton?

1. No it doesn't justify the move. That is your opinion and not fact. Some people believe that by attending Sixfields they may just be keeping the Club, it's name and it's history alive. Maybe by attending Sixfields they are keeping the actual sale price of the club down.

4. Why would any CCFC fan want to watch a ladies team when their team is playing at the same time. Listen on the radio. By going to the Ricoh you are justifying ACL in not negiotiating with SISU. A "we don't need CCFC" mentality.

If you represent the trust, I suggest you don't make your view with their logo attached. Not going to unite the fan base with such one sided views.

Point 6 - I have real misgivings about NOPM; I'm not sure it will work and it is very divisive. The alternative? Perhaps we should all turn out in numbers there - but also make ourselves visible. Protest before the game, protest after. One week we all wear black, the next we turn our back on the game for the first 5 minutes. The week after? Who knows, but the important thing would be to get creative and get noticed. Get in their faces and make it uncomfortable for them, and make the likes of TF dread turning up to games.

I'm just thinking out loud, but there has to be a better way than just staying away - because I suspect the media have already lost interest in that. They turned up for game 1, but I doubt they will be there Sunday or the game after that. We need to keep the issue live on a national level, but a near empty Sixfields isn't going to do that.

Perhaps I'm wrong and NOPM will work. I doubt it though, and all it will do is continue to divide supporters.

Perhaps I'm wrong and NOPM will work. I doubt it though, and all it will do is continue to divide supporters.

Maybe it will or maybe it won't but I'd rather see us 'fold' and start again with a new football club in Coventry than line those wankers pockets at SISU. Extreme, yes it is but these are my views and not necessarily representative of all CCFC fans.

If it makes SISU realise that ACL aren't going to go bust, despite the lack of CCFC they might return to the negotiating table. Maybe I'm overly optimistic but I think there's more chance of that than the White Elephant stadium ever getting built.

Bit of a shame you've taken the Trust in the direction it has. I'm personally interested in why you're not treating both protagonists with equal disdain. It's a starve Sisu/fill ACL's pockets approach, by the looks of things.

Does your chosen direction have anything to do with the meeting of 3 Trust members with Preston Haskell? Who were the 3 members who met with him? What type of 'fan involvement' did he promise? Were Trust 'leaders' offered board places, for instance?

Maybe some people aren't considering stratergies or boycott's there are two reasons why people will attend Sixfields:

> Passion - Some people can't stay away it's a pull, it maybe okay for some people to say okay tough love I'll do it this way and that's fine, but not everyone can do things in the same way and this is why some people can't do without watching Coventry City.

> Faith - A lot of people are starting to consider whether Not One Penny More a message that is being used by thousands of fans and the trust is having any effect if an effect at all? If you believe NOPM and that's good enough for you then great, however if NOPM is the only thing keeping you from the Football and you think it's not working then the only thing you will do is abandon your stance.

I am not saying anyone who doesn't attend Sixfields doesn't have passion however, no one wants a stratergy, we're sick of playing games, if the Sky Blue Trust want to send a message then they should come up with one, because at the moment NOPM is not concrete, some people don't believe in it and some do.

Personally I think it's also wrong that the Sky Blue Trust also promtoes the idea of getting fans to attend the Ladies Matches at the Ricoh Arena. It shouldn't just be NOPM to SISU it should be to ACL as well as there another party that are involved in this story and if you should need a second reason why not protest the fact that until this season KCIC should have been applied to the Ladies Matches as well!!

Re point 4 -Why would anyone want to put money in ACL's pockets. Just as bad as SISU IMO

I know Elliott and Hoffman were at the meeting but this is all I can find on the Trust's website:

"Three members of the trust board met with Preston Haskell IV, Ted Sullivan along with Joe Elliott and Gary Hoffman before the home game with Brentford.
Mr Haskell gave a short outline of his plans to invest in Coventry City FC and the Ricoh Arena. He emphasised the importance of proper involvement of supporters in the ownership and running of the club and in transparent communications.


As a result the trust board have 3 points to stress:

1. The Trust are desperately keen to see the whole business resolved as quickly as possible, so that the team can start next season with no further point penalties and with full confidence in our ability to win promotion to the Championship.

2. The meeting was very open, positive and constructive and Mr Haskellls plans seemed to be sound and realistic.

3. Mr Haskell appears to have a full understanding of the vital importance of supporter involvement in the ownership and running of the club. This was very encouraging.


The Sky Blue Trust was happy to meet with Mr Haskell. I'd add that if they want to reinvent the imagery they started out with, with sky blue ribbons, they could also supply some to fans attending Northampton to tie to their seats at the end of the game as they leave.

Anyway, the specifics can be worked on, the refusal to work with disparate groups and instead work against is slowly killing any fighting spirit.

And that ain't SISU doing that, nor ACL.

I disagree about smaller protests, I think even one person at Sisu/FL is worth it and at worst does no harm.

I don't think you'll get crowds like the march again for just a protest, like the FPA game there has to be something going on. Totally agree with engaging those going, I know some on the Trust are, people must know people, can we get some sensible banners to them? Would those going take them?

Personally I like the idea of finding somewhere all Coventry based fans (trying desperately for non pigeon hole names) can watch the Sheff Utd game with a party/protest atmosphere. Then using local away games as another point of giving a coordinated message. 1800 at Shrewsbury will be the biggest collection of City fans since the Ricoh, perfect place for a positive message.
