Seem's like a few are finding their voices now, is the court judgement making it easier to side or is they a feeling Sisu are less likely to drop letters threatening court action through the door.. Seems like the Cov tel are pushing a few buttons to pressure the FL or the involved parties to get round the table and sort it out... Sisu have to pay what is owed the judge made it clear, because if they fail to meet deadlines again and ACL push the FL may dock points, who can TF blame then.

I don't know how much of a boost the Arena Tesco got on matchdays, but Tesco probably have more clout to get the club back than the Football League or any court.

It must have had some sort of a boost. Purely going on my habits, I've not been over that side of town since our last game there.

Would have thought the Casino would have had something to say too, not to mention all of the local pubs.

I bet the Police / Council are losing a fortune on putting tickets on cars on matchday too ;)

Not quite though is it. SISU's court costs have absolutely no relation to the football league. The money for ACL is secured in an account by the FL. So there is no real reason whatsoever that we are likely to have any kind of points deduction.

Clearly SISU need to pay up court costs, drop the legal action and get together with ACL to thrash out a deal to return... but don't confuse the matter by suggesting these things will produce a sanction from the FL.

Just a small point - but our understanding is that the account is with Sisu's legal team, rather than directly with the FL. But never officially confirmed either way.

That's a huge point if correct.

The majority including myself see it as more than reasonable if enough to cover 590k is sat in a FL league controlled account awaiting a decision

Sorry Ian,

I wasn't on about the money the FL hold or don't, i was on about the 250,000 the judge ordered, sorry if it's not clear 1980's Holbrook's education to blame for the lack of clarity..But if the FL keep seeing a pattern with Sisu they may start to wonder if they are fit and proper to run a viable club,, can they, will they probably not but they may...

Excellent stuff Simon. Really good to have the CT backing something that Get Cov Back to the Ricoh have been campaigning on since last October. Also great to have the Federation of Small Businesses backing up the exact same points we were making during the election campaign back in May.

Do you think that there is a chance of putting pressure on the council to conduct an economic impact survey to find out exactly how this is affecting the city? We called for this back in November – as reported by the CT – but it was rejected by Ann Lucas.

I - along with a few others - have said since the club moved that local businesses would be hurt by losing some 300.000 punters a year.
I am amazed they haven't spoken up before.

or they weren't asked, the recent articles like this one and the one with the mps reads to me like the telegraph are contacting people and asking for support with their 'campaign'

Thanks for the suggestion Rob. I'll follow up.

They've confirmed they have no figures in relation to this fairly recently - so that seems like a logical step.

It's kind of sad that the small businesses get hurt and ignored by the local government at the same time the local government provide £14.4m loan to their own part owned business. Compass, the casino and all the businesses in the area should have been on the same side with especially Compass pulling their weight for a resolution. But as Compass are married to ACL they have stayed silent the whole time.

We've asked the Chamber for comment on the CCFC issue many times in the past - it was never forthcoming until now, and it took almost two weeks to arrive and multiple calls before we finally got something this time.

The FSB have spoken out on the issue in the past and are always quick to respond.

why? its pointless, we all know that it is and continues to be devastating for some businesses, why spend more money finding how by how much? The offers to get the football club back have already been exceptionally generous, the issue isn't with the council or ACL it's with SISU. No one including your campaign to get someone in the council have actually suggested anything the council can do to fix this, let alone anything reasonable.

what is it your Sepala supported campaign wants to achieve? Give the Ricoh to sisu because sisu are hurting Coventry businesses?

Yeah, I know. We all have our agendas.
Still, it is odd the businesses haven't made any waves all this time. For some it must be like the frog sitting in the pot of water slowly being boiled to death..

Now that's odd - I thought the telegraph was a strategic partner of the chamber? At least it says so on their web site.

Oh ... I see, so is Ricoh Arena.

Needs one of the big boys at the Ricoh, Tesco, M&S, Next, to take sisu or the individual who cames up with the idea to court for damagers for distressing their business

No worries... I'm mostly concerned about any FL sanctions... and luckily I can't see a reason how we could get any - certainly not relating to these issues.

SISU just need to pay up what they are told by the court. Then they can get on with abandoning the appeal and start talking.

The £100.000 is due already, isn't it.
CCC haven't said it hasn't been paid.
Sisu haven't said it's been paid.
Nobody is trying to get a cheap PR point.

They must be talking in private ...

Another farce, that woman is. What is she there for and why ? No progress at all on this ground farce and she is supposed to be firming up locations, what bollox, any local business or individual should take any business with her and her law firm away.

I would hope everyone involved just wants an end to this the FL can't be happy with the stupid situation the club has found itself in... The ruling by the FL and the judge should be excepted, paid and talks can start with the past gone and a future to talk about... My worry is Sisu have not come out with what they do next,, appeal and drag this out is looking very likely and if the judges rule on first payment is not met ,, then what!!

As Godiva said... we haven't heard much from anyone. So maybe just maybe some discussions are going on in private.

The club only pay for policing in the ground not outside it....So I would imagine match day costs to the police outweigh tickets for illegally parked cars by along way.

As I walk round my community of the old Ground I don't see much in the way of lost enterprise ,businesses are thriving and springing up all around ..

I'm sure there is a consequence ,don''t know just how destructive /harmful it actually Is though .

The Pubs ,clubs , Parking ,fast food etc ,I've no doubt received a boost .

Whether to the point of going out of business probably not ,after all it wasn't there 8 yrs ago and Clubs on the Foleshill Rd were Closing at the time and after we moved in .

The majorly affected In this are the operators of and those on Site IMO.

I don't think there are any discussions. CCFC is playing in Northampton next season & probably 3 more seasons at least and ACL are hiring out the pitch to anyone they can.

Quite rightly, too, in my opinion. They can't be expected to just sit and leave the pitch unused while Sisu continue to bugger about.

Funny you should say that I know 2 who have.

Not sure why you think that,ACL have I believe repeatedly said there will be no talks until the £590,000 is paid/sorted out, and any further legal actions are dropped. Whereas SISU are notorious for duplicity, ACL normally say what they mean, and mean what they say.
As for the effect of local businesses re the club not playing at the Ricoh, well obviously the club playing there will help certain local businesses, however it shouldn't make or break them. It's been probably nearly 15 months since the club left, and if they have survived that long, then they can clearly cope without the club, even if they would nearly all probably prefer the club back at the Ricoh.

The funds are secured by the FL... there is no reason why ACL should not be entering into discussions provided SISU drop their legal action.
