Lower league dogs?
People like Clarke, who played at Colchester and Bury and Orient and Bradford? People like Foley who played at Charlton and Blackpool and Luton?
People like Sam Ricketts?
We've had allsorts. Experienced, older professionals, who should be leaders and warriors. The young kids coming through, the talented loan players.
This club has a losing mentality and has been wallowing in self pity for many years.
You're right on the Maddison sale. It had a massive impact on TM.Yes a losing mentality that has been there for years. The exception was the first half of last season when there was a buzz around the place and we were winning playing the best football I have seen outside of the top flight. We had young 'non dogs' and they played as a team. They played for each other with enthusiasm and joy. I honestly think if reda had stayed for or if turner hadn't got injured and stayed with us a bit longer we would have maintained our form. I also believe that Kent returning to Liverpool knocked something out of the dressing room and Maddison's last minute Jan sale hit confidence.
After turner, Kent and Maddison I don't think the spirit of the team or TMs confidence in his ability were ever the same.

Nope.
See if he will walk away, as Mowbray did.
Get a manager in now for NEXT season. Tell him to focus on getting together a squad ready for next season.
My whole argument, Grendel, is that Slade isn't here past the summer.
If the board say the same to him, you're now building a squad for next season with you at the helm, then fine.
I just can't see the point of anyone being in charge who won't be in charge next season and is losing us every game every week.
As you say, we are all but relegated. Need to now plan for next season.
You're right on the Maddison sale. It had a massive impact on TM.
Fair enough. Do the stats on our record post the appointment of Chris Anderson. His other big gripe. From beating gillingham to the day of selling Maddison we played 11 league games - and won 2
And do you honestly think the sale of Maddison just happened overnight? It must have been known that we prepared to sell at the right price. From beating gillingham to the day of selling Maddison we played 11 league games - and won 2
I only talk about Ricketts because that is what I believe would happen, not what I would personally want to happen. But on another thread you talk about new manager bounce and also appointing Ricketts till the end of the season
Do you honestly see any point in recruiting a manager now on a contract until next season. What if they lose the first 6 in charge? Fans will demand his sacking.
The players such as DKE and Harries, that Oucho has just listed, are the very players people on here were saying shouldn't have been dropped after Tuesday.
Apart from the two we scored yesterday and the two on Tuesday?Slade has undoubtedly made us worse, brought in some fucking dreadful players and now we can't see where our next goal is coming from

Apologies if its already been posted elsewhere but I've just seen somewhere that Slade has only won 5 out of his last 51 league games as manager.
Slade never been the man for me.. we should of gone for uwe rosler even Caldwell would have been a better manager the blokes cluesless..
Why would you drop Kelly Evans and turnbull.. arguably our best players Tuesday when the team can't win in the league what do people have to do to start.
Even bigi.. people were raving about his performances at the start of the season.. he's a fit lad Who loves the club.. but start an unfit Gadshev in front of him?
That's why he will never be a manager in his own right. And even though he WAS right, Venus should have never said publicly that these players were not good enough for League One.
The official site isn't updated that often.not according to the offal: Boardroom
In fairness, Maddison stayed with us even though he was sold, I for one do not buy that his transfer to Norwich made much of a difference since he remained in our squad until May.
The message that the touting for sale of Maddison and subsequent non reinvestment of the sale proceeds in the playing squad gave TM was that the owners aren't really interested. Thanks TM for giving us a great season to date but we don't intend to back you. It was a message TM and the playing squad heard loud and clear. We has a chance to push on last season but the owners chose not to take it. I'll grant you that TM's transfer dealings in the summer were poor but in reality his race was run at this time last year. All of this is history now but the truth is with SISU we are going nowhere. TM has said some very complementary things about our support in the North East press since he has left us by the way. He is a genuine football man who feels for us.
If that is true then that's absolutely shocking!
Slade needs a decent number 2 beside him, someone who can take the pressure off him a bit, it looks likely that Kevin Nugent turned down the opportunity in favour of staying as Karl Robinson's number 2 at Charlton
Playing ugly is only fine if your re winning.I just dint like the football. Just because we are lower league doesnt mean we have to play so ugly. At least wait till we get big men in upfront.
I would put slade on gardening leave and either use ricketts or the u23 coach till end of season

Or we could tell Slade now his contract won't be renewed, get a promising young assistant manager in with a view that he take over from Slade after the season ends. Slade could either accept it or go now. My guess is, he would agree to it. My preference would be a player manager currently in a higher league, nearing the end of his playing career.Slade needs a decent number 2 beside him, someone who can take the pressure off him a bit, it looks likely that Kevin Nugent turned down the opportunity in favour of staying as Karl Robinson's number 2 at Charlton
Thing is, if we are going down we are going down.
Would guess now that well over 90% of us believe that, that is it and we are now down.
If we are going what is the point of just continuing the way we are.
Slade has inspired no-one. 8 league games, 0 victories.
What is the point keeping Slade if we are just going to keep losing every week and he is not here past May?
If we do accept we are down (another couple of defeats should pretty much do it, even though not mathematically), then I feel we should be looking towards some kids and those who are likely to still be here.
If we are down the players can play with little pressure. We are losing anyway. Just tell the kids to gain experience and don't worry about the results.
As I say, we are losing every game now anyway.
Give it a couple more defeats, get about 14 points or so behind and then try one or two of the youngsters and maybe swap Reid for Spence, play Kwame Thomas and DKE etc.

Oggy was also in charge at the academy and did a poor job there.
What makes you suggest that would fix anything tho? A change of playing style is all, fundamental issues are still there.
Bottom line is there not good enough.
I'd only suggest we did that IF ricketts was the man leading us in league 2 next year, something has to change tho.
That was a huge issue that could not be addressed. Was reported that all we were in for went else where hence why we ended up with Folivi
A major factor in this seasons demise, the league tells you you need goal scorers and your always likely to concede especially with young keepers and weak defence
Insider info. How was he poor? How do you measure this? I don't know where you would get the information from to say this. O
Yes, exactly. We don't want next season to be the learning curve. Let it all start now.I'm a optimistic person, Tuesday night is the very very last of the short straws left. After that we're very much league two.
I fear "the promising young manager" is already here in Ricketts.
Slades not been able to cut it here, so if ricketts is the man give it him now not later. Let him make mistakes this season not next.
Ricketts may well be lined up for the job, but I think player managers from a higher league can work well in L2, they can extend their playing carreer by a couple of years and cut their teeth on management. There must be quite a few premiership or championship players in their 30s who fancy a shot at management, who could also make a massive difference to us on the field in L2An ex well known City player said to me Russell Slade is a non league manager who got lucky at Leyton Orient but was soon found out, our players well know that. Regarding Sam Ricketts, let's not slag him yet about becoming our next manager like many would be manager of a division 4 club he is young but let's be fair he's played at the top level, captained successful rams and an international and perhaps more importantly knows the club so if it happens let's not pre-judge and give him a fair chance.
