I think myself and others are thinking Ricketts as he the cheap option.

Some say Slade was the cheap option, but surely Slade is on more than the likes of Ricketts would be on.

Ricketts has zero management credentials. Slade at least came with some degree of pedigree.

I can see an argument for parting company with Slade, his record is appalling and shows no sign of improving. Apart from Beavon his choices of transfers in are questionable and I can't see any point in keeping him.
But......what will be gained by him going? possibly we won't be playing so much in the air?
Its interesting reading that it was Kent and Maddison that played a part in the downturn in someones opinion.
Anderson is another who gets the finger pointed at him. I must admit I didn't see Anderson play, coach the team or pick the team so I can't comment. Something did change though in November/December and it wasn't positive, Armstrong and Murphy no longer played their A game and it wasn't until we were out of contention that they kicked back in( that goes for the whole team).
Mowbray, well enough said, it chipped away at him though whatever it was and his confidence was rock bottom. I reckon that this was the third or fourth time in his managerial career that before Christmas it was excellent and post Christmas was very poor and he didn't know what to do about it.
It's too easy to point at TM's previous record of second half of the season slides. TM worked a miracle in the first stage of last season. From mid November onwards it all went pear shaped. Why? The bizarre appointment of the academic Anderson. The touting for sale of Maddison with Anderson promising 'reinvestment in playing related expenditures'. The subsequent non reinvestment in the playing squad with Anderson informing the media of the wide range of items constituting playing related expenditures (seemingly everything bar quality players). TM knew the score at this time last year and should have gone then really. Because from then on TM was trying to play pretty his Premier League style football but bringing in nowhere near Premier League quality players to do it (Gadchev, Bigi, Turnbull etc). And that's been the recipe for the current disaster. If TM had gone when he should have done we could have had a manager who could have gone a bit more horses for courses and got a few more League1 scrappers in. The clear implication here for next season is that League 2 football requires League 2 footballers. Players who are proven and can tough it out at that level. Even with say 3,000 season ticket holders we should have a budget to manage that. But my fear is that we will just be a team for SISU to showcase kids from the Academy for resale, with a few (very) has beens thrown in.

Slade was hired to provide a new manager bounce! It didn't happen but that doesn't mean we get rid of him after 8 games and try again with someone else....the same thing will probably happen and we'll have gained nothing and lost a chunk of compo (OK, not very much probably).

Micky Adams didn't win any of his first 8 games in charge, were you glad further down the line that we didn't sack him after 8?

This did seem a bit long for Adams. He won his fourth game after "officially" being appointed. He gave the half time team talk in the one before which was a defeat. So it was 5 games at a stretch.

Insider info. ;)

Not always the most reliable. I just can't understand why manager after manager keeps him on when that manager's future depends on having a backroom team who will help him get results. I know that some will say that at this club he is untouchable but sentiment counts for nothing in football. I think if he wasn't up to the job he would have been out. If my job was on the line because of hearsay I would be pretty miffed. Wouldn't you?

Yes, exactly. We don't want next season to be the learning curve. Let it all start now.

Good call on the assistant thing. If Slade is definitely not going to be be here we could at least have an assistant working alongside him with a view to taking over.

Hardly going to upset the camp is it. We are already a mess and defeatist anyway.
Would the budget stretch that far?

Rdfie Howe didn't have experience when he first managed Bournemouth, okay he blipped at Burnley but made up for it since.
Oh and a certain Jimmy Hill had zero experience too !

Not criticizing it. Just saying that having zero experience will surely make Ricketts cheap.

He's not a Beckham or a JFH. Not a big name at all.

The reality is that Fisher won't sack Slade as it will cost the club money to pay him up. Slade will be here till the end of the season unless he walks.

New manager will be required for our L2 campaign. That will mean some other zombie willing to work under the militant Fisher and Sisu.

This scenario will just keep being repeated under Sisu season after season

Worth bearing in mind that Slade has also been fucked over by Fisher as he wanted to bring Kevin Nugent in as his assistant and that hasn't happened.
I suspect that he was made fully aware of the budget constraints when he signed up but not to being able to bring in your own sidekick must have pissed him off somewhat?

Nugent decided to stay at Charlton, nothing to do with Fisher. Slade was not enough to pull his man to join us.

Playing ugly is only fine if your re winning.

Losing ugly is the ultimate low.
Just playing would be nice ! :wacky:

If that's true then it's great news. Means we can sack him off at no cost.

Give the job to Farndon for the rest of the season.

Also I have heard on reasonable authority that Slade still lives in the London area and only comes up to Ryton a couple of times a week.

Fair enough. Why would he bother moving house if he wasn't being paid and isn't contracted beyond the end of the season?

But is it any wonder we are at the bottom of the league? We're meant to be a professional outfit yet both the main executive and the manager are working quite literally as amateurs, as the definition of pro vs amateur is being paid.

Fucking hell. I don't know where people get some of these rumours from, as if he isn't getting paid. What a load of tosh. Have a word with yourselves.

No, it's all true, stupot. I've also heard he does training sessions via Skype, picks the team by the pin the tail on the donkey method and calls the players by A, B, C etc. because the still doesn't known their names.

Worst of all, he believes that Lee Burge and Reece Charles-Cook are both goalkeepers.

Can't believe there is even one finger pointing towards the manager again.......do people never fucking learn ??
You do wonder how unlucky we are to always appont terrible managers, don't you.

Especially when all the structures are set up so well at the club...

How was he poor? How do you measure this? I don't know where you would get the information from to say this.
Well you can measure the academy in his time by the fact the players ended up not even league players, but elsewhere.

My 'understanding' (yeah, me and the world ;)) was that the academy used to go for physically strong youngsters, so at youth level we'd bully the opposition. Once they grew up and came up against players of equal or better physical strength and fitness, their lack of technical ability was exposed.

Things improved wrt the academy once Oggy left that job, of course...

Now as for him as keeper coach, I have no 'information' or 'knowledge' so have no clue if he does a good job or not... so have no clue if he should stay in that job or not. I can say that we haven't got a Fabian Debec or Scott Shearer recommended us under him, however...

Not a big fan of Juggy normally but he made an astute observation that had passed me by: We were on 19 points and one point from safety when Slade arrived and now we’re rank bottom and 11 points from safety after 9 games under Slade, when we've only scored 7 goals and conceded 19.

I also realised that even if we beat Gillingham, he will only equal Mowbray's record of 6 points from 10 games. So his own results are no better than those that saw TM walk away.

We were also in freefall when he took over and struggled to halt the slide. Confidence was shot well before he came in.

Fair point - but this issue is that he hasn't done anything to turn things round.

Confidence was shot before he got here I agree with, however lets bring in more players who are no better then what we have and start them. DKE for me has been great, a glimmer in what is a poor squad yet he plays Foley who looks poor. He plays Burge who week in week out plays rubbish, cant kick or throw, cant control his area. every home game this season when burge is playing you can see Slade going mad on the sidelines because of his lack of any goal keeping skills.

Slade for me is a joke and I honestly feel he was the only one who applied for the job. Tactics are now a no show and that plum stands on the touchline looking clueless along with the rest of the coaching staff.
