Was so glad Chris Hussey put his penalty away, and the show of emotion after was great to see as well. This guy is a confidence player and our own fans are ripping him to pieces.

I hope all the boo boy, felt there input got the best out of him!!!

When hes on form he will run past opponents and put in good balls, lets hope the home fans dont crush him too much and we see the confident Hussey back!!

Its because they have always needed someone to hate and to be honest its the fans who have never kicked a ball in their life

Not condoning the booing and I never do it myself, but it has to be said that Hussey was dreadfully shit first before the booing started.

He was totally shit for at least 20 mins tonight before the fans started booing him.

The guy couldn't pass the ball 5 yards.

I hate to see booing of our own players, but he was truly, truly shocking and it was like watching a pub player out there tonight. The booing isn't going to get his confidence back mind

Towards the end of the season we shall revisit the hussey sympathy threads and see how many people still want to " give the lad a confidence boost" or a one way ticket out of Coventry..I'm sorry but bell gets more stick and hussey should be exempt ....why??

Well to be fair, Hussey looked like he had never kicked a ball in his life tonight.

He was no worse than some others on the pitch in a City shirt. Some fans just need someone to pick on.

Baker was dreadful too and he got stick as well.

Don't think it was needing to pick on someone.

Hussey and Baker's performances tonight were nowhere near what is required of a professional footballer and I think the fans saw that.

I hate booing but you could see it building up with every mistake.

Brown was almost equally shit. Baker, Hussey and Brown for me were shockingly bad.

I would say Jennings was the only player to come out of the game being able to hold his head up. No one else performed well really. But i will keep cheering them on and hoping things pick up

I was really pleased Hussey scored the pen. I was fearing the worst when he stepped up and I think the reaction from the fans would have been dreadful had he missed.

It was one of the worst individual Sky Blue player performances I have ever seen in recent years though. I couldn't believe just how bad he was and all those sitting around me were saying the same.

None of us were booing mind.

Leave Hussy alone, how is he ever going to perform with people on his back, this booing really pisses me off, save it for the Panto.

Crikey, was he that bad? I thought Reece Brown against Sheffield United was the worst I'd seen in a long time, would do well (or very badly) to beat that. I would add that Brown has got to be one of the worst footballers I've laid eyes on, I know he's young but I'd be surprised if he plays above Conference level.

Agree. As a footballer I would say Chris Hussey is a much better player.

Don't know how Reece Brown made it in the world of professional football.

Well you have to think if he was Reece Green instead of Reece Brown he simply wouldn't have made it.

I really don't think Reece Brown is that bad, all the ingredients are there he is just making the odd bad decision which is costing us at the moment.
I think people are going way overboard.

His decision making is poor, but that is true of many young players that have come through our ranks. What separates him is poor technique and ability, he struggles to get a ball under control, against Bury and Sheffield United there were occasions when the ball would roll under his foot. I think he lacks the basic set of skills that professional footballers need.
Physically he's great, decent in the air and no particularly sluggish. However if he ever makes it at this level then right now he would have to be playing very poorly by his own standards

Don't think it's OTT, Hill.

He has been dreadful in just about every game this season and I recall the reports from the pre-season friendlies and the word was he was pretty goddamn awful in all those games too.

His positioning his poor, his decision making is poor, his heading is poor, his touch has been poor and his distribution has been poor.

In his favour though he does have nice hair.

Being what I would consider a "confidence player" myself, can I just point out that if you are constantly worried what your team mates might say or that your own fans might boo you for making a mistake, it's not a surprise that you don't get your head into the game.

I used to get so much stick from my (not particulaltly gifted) team mates when I was younger. It ruined my confidence as a player for years, to the point that I stopped playing. Starte again about 6 years ago. Since then (playing with a nice group of guys) I have been my teams top goal scorer 5 times and won the leagues golden boot twice.

Just saying that booing someone is never going to get the best out of them.

Whats the crack with this booing culture? I really don't get why people would shatter the confidence if their own!? It doesn't make sense really.

Agreed.

Can only put it down to City fans being so starved of success for so long that the frustration has now reached boiling point.

Booing surely defeats the entire object of wanting the player in question to improve his performance.

We had a good chat about the Hussey performance after the game and I think something that everyone seems to have overlooked is firstly that his team mates don't always work as a hard for him as they could and secondly the formation we play relies too heavily on a player who is not good enough to perform to his expectaions.

Allow me to illustrate,

A lot of the play goes through Hussey as playing the diamond formation* he provides the width. Unfortunately on a number of occasions last night Hussey would find himself with the ball without an easy pass to pick out. This was the same under Thorn and has carried on for some reason under Shaw that as soon as we get posession all of our players (including the defense) step up and don't offer a short 'easy' pass option. This in turn puts Hussey (and the right back which was very apparent with Brown) under more pressure as they are closed down by the opposition. Nine times out of ten the player will opt to play the long ball which if accurate and actually goes to one of our players is not always won and held up.

The simple fact for me is that we try to use Hussey as a fast wing back who can create opportunities for his opponents in a Evra, Cole, Clichy type role and unfortunately for us he doesn't really have the capability to carry out that role.

I'm not saying Hussey is blameless as he didn't exactly play well last night but the tactics are too reliant on his limited ability. Hopefully a new manager will recognise this and adapt the way we play in due course and in turn Hussey's performances will improve as he is certainly good enough to play in this division.

*Before anyone shoots me down, I'm aware that we played more of a 4-4-2 last night which is worse for Hussey because as soon as City get posession McSheffrey is practically upfront and in line with the other strikers.

Not going to shoot you down, but do have to pick you up on the 'he would find himself with the ball without an easy pass to pick out.'

Thing was last night, he did have easy passes to make and when he tried to makes easy passes (5 to 10 yards to a teammate) those passes were just truly dreadful.

Not nonsense though, Torch. You and I, I consider to be reasoned rational supporters. I'm talking about the others who don't see the big picture and have shorter fuses.

Would agree with you except that Hussey was absolutely awful for a good 20 mins and gave the ball away several times before the booing started. It was after the umpteenth piece of poor play the booing commenced.

Still think booing is stupid though and totally counter productive, but I could sense it coming.

Usually a player having a bad game redeems himself with the odd good pass amongst all the rubbish he's been dishing up, but last night it was pass after pass after pass and I think it was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I just think that watching teams who play a passing game you very often see them play the ball across each player in the back four in order to retain posession and bide their time to find space for their next attack. This is an option that City on many occasions rarely take.

Regarding him not making his easy passes, I agree they were woeful yesterday and I put it down to him having a bad start and his confidence dropping as the game went on. For me, he just had a bad day.
