Some have, the majority haven’t. That’s why they’re at the top of the league 🤣

Right, so you agree the majority of those games were against high quality opponents we wouldn’t expect to regularly beat.

We hold the top clubs in too much reverence

I think complacency has come into it a bit with us. People in the media have been saying we were nailed on for top 6, whereas teams fighting for their lives have been treating games like cup finals

we lost v Sheff U and Burnley
we were unlucky/careless v Burnley and certainly didnt deserve to lose, so certainly not complacent

Frank will have then fired up tonight which I really think is a must win to ease some of the nerves and give us a bit of breathing space

Well we lost convincingly to Sheff U who have since lost to Oxford and Millwall, we lost to Burnley who have just been held to a draw by Derby. Why do you think that was?

We need to be in the top 6 after the Mboro game! That will do for me!

Because of cheat code Hamer followed by that lunatic we have in goal

Perhaps 71 minimum. 74 should get us 5th quite comfortably. I don't think it's certain by any means with Boro's resurgence and the way Bristol have been going. Hopefully everyone will start dropping some points.

Beat Hull and Plymouth and beat 1 of Boro or WBA and I think that will be enough tbh

SkyBet still predicting we come 6th with 69 points as we were 'expected' to win this one. But 7 points from the last 5 games seems low, epecially if we're predicted to lose to both WBA and Borough who we finish ahead of in the prediction. To come 5th we'd need 71; so 3 wins out of 5, even if they're last-gasp, 71 should see us 5th or 6th.

Would be nice to win the NEXT three then the last two don't matter so much. Borough MIGHT be out of it by the last game, that would be a relief considering so many predict that to be the make-or-break game.

Having 6th secure before the last day would really be preferable. A final day shootout for a playoff spot isn’t my idea of fun

Maximum points and games v Teams in top 10 (still in contention

Bristol C can get to 78 (still got Sunderland H Leeds A)
we can get to 77 (Middlesbrough and WBA H)
middlesbrough can only get to 75 (Millwall and City A)
WBA 72 (Watford H coventry A)
Millwall 72 (Middlesbrough H Burnley A)
Watford 71 (WBA A Burnley H)
Others I would say mathematically out of it

before we play next
Millwall v Middlesbrough will either take Millwall out of race or keep a good gap over Middlesbrough
WBA v Watford will take 1 or both out of race

5 games to go.

Looks like it will be tight between Bristol City and ourselves.

Middlesbrough may be 2 points behind us but their GD gives them an edge. Saturday is very important with their game at Millwall. Could well come down to the final game of the season at our place.

WBA have got 2 points from their last 5 games. Not too worried about them although we still have to play them. Our 5 point advantage should be enough.

Millwall are on a good run. Won 3 of their last 4 games including beating Sheffield United last game. But our 5 points and +6gd advantage should be enough. A draw next game with Middlesbrough would be a good result for us.

Watford 6 points and +9gd behind us and are struggling a bit recently. They would need 2 wins and a draw from their last 5 games just to get past where we are now.

The rest need to win all 5 remaining games just to have a chance.

I still think 70 points for the playoffs and 72 for 5th place.
72 is still quite an ask from us isn't it.

10 points from 5 games, so 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat.

Not much room for error is there

The one thing that concerns me is we are the only team in the race where every opponent has something to play for. Even if Plymouth and Luton lose every game between now and when we play them, Plymouth will still have 9 points to play for, and Luton will have 6.
(46 points has been enough before.)
If they and Hull play like Portsmouth did last night it won't be easy for us. Our coaches will hopefully have an answer to the high energy press.

Having something to play for is a double edged sword. The pressure on Plymouth and Luton to win is going to be immense and they may well be must win games for them in the truest sense.

We shall see. Our games against our playoff rivals are at home. The games against the lower clubs are away. Win our home games then we would need a win and a draw from the 3 away games.

But anything can happen. Beating Hull, Plymouth and Luton wouldn't exactly be a surprise. Would be nice to have a playoff place secured before we enjoy the visit of Middlesbrough last game of the season.

We really don't seem to enjoy playing teams who are happy to sit back, and either take a draw or look to hit on the counter - i.e. Derby. We often appear to struggle to unlock these types of teams, and last night showed that. I think it could be a real issue against the likes of Hull and Luton, who may go into their games against us thinking - a point would be a good result and help get us to safety. I think Plymouth is the big opportunity for us points wise, they will have to go for it.

What didn't help us in these games were incompetent match officials. We were nearly the first side to put 2 past Burnley in the league and they have the best defensive record by far.

It will be difficult to score against Hull. They have only let 7 goals in from their last 10 games. They beat Sunderland 1-0 and drew 1-1 with WBA and Bristol City during this run. But on the other hand they have only scored 7. That's why I predicted a 1-0 win to us.

At home those teams will be going all out to beat us I would say

Luton will be very dependant on the situation, they may well need all 3 points to stay in contention - currently 2 off safety with a big GD disadvantage

The weird thing is that we could easily win all five or just as easily lose all five. Two home games against good teams three away against strugglers two of whom are fighting to stay up. Two home wins and three draws should be enough

Yeah, that's no defeats in 5 games though. I do think we will lose a game along the way. Just think we are bound to .

If we beat Baggies thats them gone, if we can then pick up 2 more wins from Hull/Luton/Plymouth, hopefully we go into the Boro game with it already confirmed.
