They caught McSheffrey as he couldn't be bothered to run but gave him back when they realised he wasn't worth more than the cost of the petrol they'd used to get to Cov from Birmingham

TAX officials swooped on the Ricoh Arena this week as Coventry City teetered on the brink of administration.

The HMRC team, aiming to seize assets to cover the club’s unpaid PAYE bill, went away empty-handed because all the fixtures and fittings belong to ACL, the company that runs the stadium.

The Sky Blues had to hand over nearly £500,000 on Tuesday to clear that debt after securing fresh funds from owners Sisu, who have now pumped around £30million into the club since their 2007 takeover.

But a source at the Arena confirmed that it was a highly embarrassing and awkward incident for ACL, who are particularly keen to protect their reputation after winning the right to stage qualifying matches for next year’s Olympics.

I'd love to have been there to see that. It's almost hilarious, if it wasn't so desperate. I quite like the "ineptitude of the taxman" element, considering they wouldn't have needed to do much research to find out we own zilch% of the stadium.
I can picture them turning up in a threatening, menacing, demanding manner..grabbing stuff and being told by the receptionist "No, you can't have that, they don't own it. Nor that..or that...nope, not that either. They don't own anything! Go away!"
Maybe a "Get Me Hennimore!" Mitchell & Webb sketch in it, perhaps? Views, Sir Digby?

They could have had the revolving door on the manager's office.
