I did, in case it helps Wingy - might prompt a visit to specsavers!
Just kidding Wingy!
You think he's old ? BHSB must need binoculars then :shamefullyembarrased:

Specsavers were my last Opthalmists.
Time for some new Variofocals.
In my defence I zoomed the picture out to see the team better and the right side of the screen was lost, but I should have spotted it in reduced form anyway.

Give you a like Wingy for getting Opthalmist in an SBT thread. Bravo!

Looking forward to meeting up with Steve Hunt when he brings Cowes Sports to play Newport (IW). I'll try to get his pic and if I get chance, ask him his views on the plight of CCFC. Should be interesting.....

Nice to see "Harry" Roberts there! One of my all time favourites!

Remember all them apart from Hormanshuk and Melrose, did they play much ?
Martin Singleton a Banbury lad like my good self
Herman's huck was a right back I recall who came through the youth system but never did enough to dislodge Harry Roberts.
Jim Melrose I think came on a swap deal from Leicester (Tommy English?) and was formerly at Celtic. A striker with some pedigree but never really did it with us, only lasted a season or so.

Key players missing are Terry Gibson, Micky Gynn & Stuart Pearce, ashley grimes is also missing as is Charlie George but can't be considered key players

I was thinking Pearce was missing too - as Butterworth is in picture and I thought they both left for forest together?
Rather than Grimes, was it kirk Stevens (or had they already swapped)?

Talking about how dangerous those shorts were, Errington Kelly's nickname was tripod, or 3 leggy edy!!!!!. I bet he never felt safe in them.

Errington would of been 26 then. You sure it wasn't one of his younger brothers ?

He did have 6 brothers and Tony did play pro, but think Ed was the only one to play for the club. Never played a 1st team game for us, but scored a few for the posh.

dont remember Kelly from that
Melrose scored a hat trick on his home debut - but never quite followed that up

Good to see 3 of the cup final team already there 4 years before the cup final

This must be early in preseason as Butterworth still there - I thought he left with Pearce - and some of the new signings, but others missing

I'm assuming the picture was taken before Pearce, Gibson arrived.

Butterworth left at the end of the 84/85 season. Pearce didn't join until after the season had started, Gibson, Stephens, Grimes, Gynn, Platnauer, Withey and Allardyce all joined before season started I think

I think Avramovic started the season too & by then maybe Melrose and others had left

Rev, like Ovduk said above, Melrose buggered off before the season started, and went to Celtic. Hormantschuk played a few seasons I think before injury ended his career. I seem to remember him scoring in a 3-0 win against Man Utd, when he shot from about 30 yards and Gary Bailey fumbled it into the net....... a 3-0 win against Man Utd, seems a long time ago!

Was just going to mention the 3-0 win against Utd myself. My United supporting mate worked in a bank in Leamington and recognised Chucky when he came in one day (he was by then working for Securicor or similar). They had a good chat about that game.
