We won't see much of the ball - a bit like Saturday against Leeds - although they do not attack with pace like Leeds do.
When we do have the ball, it is vital that we use it well and take any chances that we get. If we do, we can pick up points. If not this could be a long and frustrating evening.

So it's either going to be:
Collins
MvE Thomas Lati Kitch Bidwell
Eccles Torp
O'Hare
Haji Simms

Or:

Collins
Lati Thomas Kitch Bidwell
Eccles Sheaf
MvE O'Hare Palmer
Simms

Tactics are obviously always important but even more crucial against this Saints team. They will keep possession very well and given the amount of football we have played lately, I don't think we will have the legs to press high up the pitch. I think we will need to be defensively solid and hope to get something on the counter attack to have a chance. Maybe it's time for a Kitching or Thomas set-piece header (in the right goal!).

We didn’t press high in the home game and were better off for it anyway. If they want loads of possession in front of us, they can have it.

Just need to be patient and disciplined enough not to break our shape

Correct. Only danger is if they score early / first. Suspect if we can keep it tight the crowd will start getting on them also. A little be of discontent down there.

sounds like we have a couple of knocks, but we have to win tonight, doesn’t matter how.

The way to win is to be patient out of possession and very clinical when we get the ball. So the likes of Thomas and Kitching need to keep their heads

Would imagine it’s wright as he was away during international break. Might just drop Torp in for him to beef up midfield though

I thought Wright looked like he was slightly limping when he came off on Saturday so wouldn't be surprised if it is him with the knock.

If the 2 missing players can be covered by Latibeaudiere and Torp I’d still feel quite confident, if it’s anyone else coming in I’d worry.

Both of them are 50/50 but one will probably be risked as they already arent available in a couple of weeks...

If as expected Soton will have the majority of the possession, and our game will be based on quick counter attacks, then Lati could be useful at DM. Wouldn't surprise me to see MVE pushed forward, with Lati in at RB.

Where are people drinking pre-match?
Last time we went in the cup there were a few places on above bar street with a heavy Cov presence. Not sure if it will be different given that it's an evening kick off though. Think Yates and the scholars arms (greene king) were the busiest?

For any beer connoisseurs out there Belgium & Blues on the same street is a good visit.

Collins
Lati Thomas Kitching Bidwell
Sheaf Eccles
MVE O'Hare Palmer
Simms

Surely that's what he'll go with if Wright is out then?
Decent side still, wouldn’t mind Torp over Eccles or Sheaf if they could do with a rest

I'd go:

Collins

Lati
Thomas
Kitching
Bidwell
Torp
Eccles
O'Hare
Van Ewijk
Simms
Wright

I'd sit deeper and try to use Van Ewijks pace on transition.

They'll want to dominate the possession, so I'd let them sit in front of us and do that. Lati to come inside and Van Ewijk to drop into right back when we are out of possession.

Feel sorry for Binks at the minute, because I like him and want him to get some minutes, but I wouldn't change the CB's, and I can't drop Bidwell after Saturday.

Sheaf must need a rest and by the sounds of it is carrying a knock?

O'Hare to start and Palmer to come on against tired legs and look to drive us up the pitch.

All in all, a 2-0 Cov win on my Birthday.

Could really do with Wednesday winning later, Norwich have only won 2 of last 10 away games.

They’ve got 2 tough away games coming up. As have we tbh but if we could come away from these 2 games with 4 points then I reckon PO’s will be back in our hands
