As for it being the EDL I've seen the footage on the main channels and I'm pretty convinced that whilst the police would like us to think it was organised by the EDF I'm not sure it was. Looks largely spontaneous anger by locals in the main.
I'm not condoning it but I'd be more surprised if nothing had happened. There must be unimaginable anger in that town.

The ones i heard all had Merseyside accents, I don't think they've travelled far and wide at all and the EDL I don't think exists anymore, poor reporting from the BBC

I'm not sure if they are police that stand around watching at the beginning of that footage but clearly if they go in and try to arrest anyone they'll be badly injured. They're powerless and as I look at that I see anarchy . Law and order has clearly broken down. Those with knives have won and rule the streets.
