I have never really considered myself sports mad, but when I look at stuff I watch on TV it is quite an expansive collection.

Just wondered how sports mad you would all consider yourself to be?

What sports do you regularly watch on TV and which ones have you actually watched live at a decently high level?

For me.....

TV

Football (obviously)
Cricket
American Football
Tennis (only the really high profile tournaments and only occasionally)
Golf (same as above, Ryder Cup, the Open etc.)
Rugby Union (England only pretty much)
Athletics (Olympics, World Championships etc.)

Watched live at a high level

Football (obviously)
Ice hockey
American Football
Baseball
Speedway
Greyhound racing

Ones I wouldn't mind seeing live.

Rugby Union
Cricket
Golf (only the Open or Ryder Cup)
Hockey (England only)

Ones I would never be interested in seeing live at all, even if I had free tickets

F1
Snooker
Darts
Swimming
Basketball

I know people who just watch sports all the time and so many different sports and also know one guy who will watch any and every live football match on TV, be it Premier, Championship, non league, Scottish, Italian, French or Spanish.

So, how sports mad are you and how many sports do you watch live in person and then also on TV?

My Grandad loved watching football. Didn't matter who it was, what league it was, what day of the week it was or even what Country it was from. He'd just watch football. Never ever really supported a team. He was from Latvia and moved over as a misplaced person after WW2 so never supported anybody here. I took him up Highfield Rd. on occasions and he'd always talk to me about City but didn't really support them himself.
As for me, I watch ANY England Cricket. If it's on and I'm at home I'll watch it.
I watch F1 (not religiously like my Brother though).
Rugby Union (only really when England play though).
Any sport when the Olympics is on and I have a vested interest (ie. Team GB are playing or it's a team that GB could face etc).
Same again with Coventry/Warwickshire (ie if Bees or Blaze or the Bears are on the box I'll watch it).
Don't really watch much football, even stopped watching Englnd games of late. Just find football boring unless it's watching us. Love watching city but falling out of love with football of late.

Ice Hockey.
Cricket (only bears, would love to do an ODI at Lords).

Rugby (Never an Intl though).
Rally (that was a crazy day)

When I was younger I would watch Football religiously, even if it was random French games on Eurosport at silly o'clock. Used to like watching Tennis as well but nowadays I only really watch CCFC.

I don't even bother watching the highlights programme any more now I don't need to.

I have been falling out of love with football too. Usually only City and England matches for me. Never miss an England match. It's my country after all.

Just find England matches so dull and boring.
I'll watch tournaments and maybe sometimes qualifiers, but won't lose sleep over missing a qualifier. Won't bother with friendlies unless there is literally NOTHING else on Tele and no paint anywhere drying. As for all other football it's just gone mad. More players interested in there image (boots, hair cut, bentley) than the game. Too many cheats and divers, stupid money killing it. It's just fucking crazy. They say it's the working man's sport but it's so far away from real life nowadays it's unreal.

Football and NFL. I keep up with test cricket scores but never watch them. City take up such a large part of my life I don’t know how people would fit more sports in.

basketball once
Racing about 4 times
greyhounds about 5 times
Speedway about twice

would like
Boxing - top world title fight

But of the ones I have been to - most I would watch on tv, but being there unless it is for the event (drinking etc) does not really excite me
even football without your team playing, is not exciting

Well I prefer NFL to football anyway, any day of the week.

If City were done I think I would pretty much be finished with football.

In my view, you are sports mad if you follow any sport:

Which is played with a ball that isn't round.
Which involves deliberately hurting a person or animal.
Which involves dangling a rod over a body of water.
Which involves using a brush.
Which is played by men in skirts

I wouldn't class myself as sports mad to be honest. Obviously city goes with out saying, been to various England games but nowhere near a CJ level!
Love cycling, cycle everyday and could watch it constantly. Been to see the tour twice, once in Paris.
Love cricket, go to see England at least once a year and could watch that all day also.

Apart from that, there are no other sports I would say I am a true fan off albeit I do find myself watching all sorts sometimes

I'm an 'England' person, so can watch anything I wouldn't normally watch just cos the team or the competitor was English.

Never, ever watch cycling, except for at the Olympics and then I love it for the week it's on. Then go back to not watching again.

To be honest watching England football team is a bit of a bind at the moment!

Would watch almost anything live. As long as I get some kind of enjoyment I’ll give it a go. Christ knows how many football and hockey matches I’ve been to. Been the only away fan at some! Seen a lot of cricket too. For work I’ve done a fair amount of road racing, Moto GP, WSB and BSB meetings although I try to avoid them now.

Bucket list is Lions in NZ, TdF Grand Depart & Paris, the Ashes and Stanley Cup final series.
