Do people really not take their kids to midweek games? I had a season ticket from 8 and went to every game midweek

The family stand will always be quieter for midweek games as it’s a late night for the kids.
Agreed it will, however to compound that, more would go with the ticket they have. It needs a rethink as if the kid can't go, the adult has to move. I think for games like this we need a reduced space for the family section (possibly condensed in one block and open block by block with interest) or make tickets the same price all round so people can go where they want with no family section for midweek cup games. The late night and on Sky are factors that will affect in addition to the high price and if they're surprised at that, then whoever does the research needs sacking!

Kids pricing is absolutely fair. Just because it's a bigger team than usual doesn't mean we can give handouts. If the point people are making is that we're pricing children out of being Cov fans, then what's the difference between watching Spurs vs watching Swansea at the weekend? £15, and arguably a better chance of seeing a decent Cov performance.
Handouts that's a choice word!

I understand that, but I guess you have to look at the reasoning behind why you want to take a child. I would assume most would want to keep the kids coming back. You can either spend £25 and probably watch us get dominated by Spurs at an unfavourable time for kids, or you can take them to a prime Saturday 3pm slot for £15 in a game where we have more of a chance of putting in an exciting performance. That's surely a no brainer?

Oh yeah I’m sure it’s far more exciting seeing Swansea than Spurs. I remember when 7 I went to my first game. There was a cup game against I think Grimsby or Man Utd including George best. Oddly I picked the latter.

And its a complete sell-out.
Yeah cause those owners couldn’t have picked a thicker fanbase to brainwash

They’re evidently genuinely happy to pay that much for L1 football so they will probably stick another tenner onto that if/when they come back up

A fanbase is thick as they pay to watch their team. That’s a truly bizarre argument

Is it half ten though I think I will be lucky to get back to Nuneaton by half eleven and that’s not that far

I used to walk back to town and get a bus. Yes it started earlier but I still couldn’t have got back home until nearly 11

I have a season ticket so I wouldn’t care
If we dropped down to L1 and I wasn’t a season ticket holder (which won’t happen I’ll always keep my ST) and they tried charging me £35 the club would be told to stick it

Like I said, they are happy to pay it cause they lap up everything those owners tell them, a mate of mine who supports them genuinely believes that those owners are going to have them challenging for European football on a regular basis

Tbf with the money they’re spending they will go straight up and should be challenging for promotion again, assuming it doesn’t all fall apart. It’s not like they’re paying 35 quid to watch Peterborough every week.

Starting to shift a bit to be fair 😂
It's funny how people with no commercial, operational or business backgrounds have the loudest opinions on how to sell tickets. It is always about selling them as cheaply as possible - never how much revenue the club can generate. Our old landlords gave away tickets by the thousands and it didn't create future fans, it de-valued the product and eventually, they went bust.

I imagine, for example, the club took a loss against Oxford because the attendance was so low - tickets were £15 and U18s £8. So I have no qualms with the club charging non-STHs £37 for the match.

It really is ridiculous though now and the EFL really need to have a fixed price on tickets like the PL.
Apart from working, following City is all i really do with my 2 kids and this month has been crazy.

Watford £35 + £5 + £5 for tickets then £80 for train tickets. Total £125.
Spurs £70 *3 as no concession in club Coventry. Car Park £15. total £225.
Leeds £35 + £25.50 +£25.50 and about £50 petrol. Total £136.

Total outcome without any extras like food & drink £486. Absolute joke.

I think the consensus is that adult prices for this match are fair enough. It's the £25 for a 7 yo that feels too much. Difficult to say what impact on the overall attendance the pricing will have. Looking at the seat map it'll end up as an attendance of 25K I reckon.

The area where ST holders failed to take up the option of buying their seat with the most empty seats is the family zone which isn't surprising
We don't know how much traffic there is in the ticket exchange for regular league matches. I would be interested to see some numbers on this.

My experience in the FZ last season was that there we lots of empty seats dotted around the area. On midweeks, there would be a lot of early exits around 60-70 minutes (earlier in winter) and finally, different people rocking up to games in the same seats. So if you're routinely leaving matches 20-30 minutes early, perhaps a £10 day pass on Now TV is more appropriate to watch the match rather than in the stand for at least £57.

We are going and my lad was going even if I couldn’t get the night off as his grandparents would take him, he will be alright in the morning but I guess some kids wouldn’t be.

Yeah the idea that kids can’t stay up until half 10 on a school night is ridiculous. It’s a one off!
Of course they shouldn’t be up until 10:30 on a school night - but then the parents probably just don’t bother sending them to school next day at all, just “school from home” instead.

Probably depends how committed the kids are too. Just down from us is a fella with a couple of kids who don't watch the game at all and are playing games on their phone throughout whilst the dad watches. Entertainment at season ticket value is a few quid each and means he gets to watch. They're no trouble at all, but I doubt he'd be buying the tickets for tonight so that's immediately 3 empty seats and I'd be amazed if there aren't more like that. Tbh not many places you can take your kids on a Saturday afternoon for a fiver!

Is it ever going to go on general sale or we just happy with about 15k turning up?

Have gone to midweek games for as long as I can remember. Was a mascot at one as well.

This has sold slightly better than anticipated. Still pretty sparse in the north stand though.

Why didn’t you just get normal tickets…?

Despite this I dont really understand taking the kids for them to not watch 🤷‍♂️
