Back in time it was very much the norm..I remeber Derek Robins definitely being in photos and even the whole board maybe 6 people in suits alongside the footballers ... Think it is quite nice really ...but if I was Doug I would have looked a bit fitter/tidier round the waist

Well if you include the Youth players in the "squad" photo the number of midfielders have increased by 50%

I'm sure if you were to look through the other 91 clubs in the top 4 tiers you won't find their owner in a squad picture

Doesn't exactly quell the views that he's too involved in the playing side of things does it

I don't like it but I guess it's his toy and he can choose to play with it how he wishes but I would prefer my owner to be far more in the background personally.

If I was in Doug’s position, I’d be tempted to be in the photo. The coaching and other professional staff are in it too. It’s the team in the widest sense of the word I think because it isn’t just the players who get a team promoted anymore is it? I’d have felt differently about Joy Sepalla being in the photo - she always felt like the representative of an anonymous venture capitalist fund owner. And looking at it another way, if Doug puts himself front and centre as owner in this way, he can’t hide away from answering questions, facing a bit of criticism or changing his mind where justified - which to be fair I think he does face up to

A couple of years ago we had owners who showed the club discontent. Now we’ve got an owner who is visually involved in the club. He’s the owner sitting with the club manager. Going to be honest, think this is scrapping the barrel.

We now have an owner who has sold those fantastic players, taken power from that fantastic manager and has assembled an unbalanced mess of a squad.
