Stadium MK or Ricoh (1 Viewer)

Can`t help feeling our stadium is designed terribly , if we had a 2 tier stadium you just close the upper tiers for attendances below 18000 making it look fuller and having a better atmosphere, it could be like yesterday every home game, if we did own the stadium would love to see one end of stadium re-designed.

I agree totaly, think the wide concourse at the top was great. Liked their main stand just looked so different from the ricoh, Lestor, Pride Park, St Marys etc...

However its location is far worse than the ricoh, very few home fans can walk to that ground

Plenty of free parking on the industrial estate though, i think our council should lift some of the parking restrictions around our stadium as well. The more i go up the Ricoh the more i hate the crap soulless identicit design. Stadium MK cheaper to build than the Ricoh, closer to the pitch, concourse was fantastic just feel we rushed in without no thought on our stadium.

Thought it was better then the other new bowls, the open concourse design is excellent and if we were ever to rebuild/move we should incorporate it.

Also from the outside you would struggle to know it was a football ground, let alone MK Dons ground. Didn't see a MK Dons badge anywhere!

It wasn't a bad ground, infact very representative of Milton Keynes in general. Nothing actually wrong with it, just has a very manufactured feel to it.

I thought that when I drove past! The only thing that confirmed it was the ground were the signs for matchday parking!

Also the spacing between the seats was excellent with plenty of room and the seats were wide and padded much like the Arsenal ones (not that I took advantage as was standing up the whole game!) Really good ground, just looks a bit odd with the upper tier not having any seats in it yet. Would imagine it would be great to be in the ground for a game with a sell out crowd including the upper tier. Thumbs up to the MK Dons and Stadium:MK, would definitely go again if we get the chance (hopefully along with 4,987 others again!)

I thought the MK stadium was very good, it was built by same people who built the Ricoh, but 5 years later.
The layout was good and the view was good and layout of concourse was ideal.

it's just a pity they give away 3k tickets each home game to boost numbers, the official numbers through the gate yesterday was 11,400 but over 13k tickets . Those present could see our many empty seats they had. It's a real shame that these new stadiums are often built in wrong areas.

It would be relatively easy to compress smaller crowds closer to the pitch at the Ricoh; simply close the back rows of seats. The smaller the expected attendance, the more rows you close!

Unfortunately, all this would result in would be complaints from the fans who are moved from their usual seat. Remember the fuss when they closed the corner!

It is a lovely stadium, I love the open feeling where even if you are getting food you can still see the pitch. That worked very well watching the rugby there.

They have however built it too far from the middle of MK. Plus if you dont know the shortcuts away from the industrial estates etc everyone just heads towards the A5 on a tiny road. That traffic aspect where the Ricoh is actually very good.

Shit location an layout around the stadium with the surrounding retail park. I know ours is next to tesco but stadium mk was practically on top of the car park for the surrounding Stores. Didn't like the grey colours but obviously that would be different for different teams. Thought the open concourse was great but way too small an two tier stands would look great if we could fill them

No, I much prefer the Ricoh. MK Dons will never finish that stadium. It's final capacity after that add on the supposed third tier is meant to be close to 50,000.

At least the Ricoh is actually finished. Plus, because of how high the roof is and the way the three normal stands have been designed, if (BIG IF) we did want to add another tier (I KNOW) we probably could with minimal fuss. It would probably look a bit like Celtic Park, with the three big stands and a wee one for the prawn sandwich brigade.

I can only dream...

(Long story short, I'd rather have seats that, although empty most of the time, can be used if needs be.

Was very impressed. If they gain promotion they are going to put the seats on the top tier. Cracking ground and I actually prefer it to the Ricoh.

Looks tatty from outside with the windows etc to be fitted but one plus is being able to park so close (industrial estate).

The idea of only putting in seats that are going to be used is good, although the concrete stansions on the upper tier do look a bit of an eye sore!

That said, i went to this stadium in their first (may have been second) warm up game when they held a charity game in memory of Alan Ball so had the luxury of being able to walk all around the stadium as apposed to having the fan divides! Does look good and if its ever finished (although i doubt they'll get the support they need to warrant the seating completion) it will be an excellent arena.

Think I prefer the closed in concourse / snack / bar areas though

We didn't even know it was the stadium as we approached. Looked more like a multi-storey car park.

Liked the internal layout when we first got in (open concourse), but half time showed how horribly impractical it was. No pints allowed on the concourse meant that the bar areas were closed off, which really didn't work.

Nipped into one of the bars for a pint at HT and stood like a sardine in a tin for about 5 mins. After getting nowhere and seeing numerous pints spilled as people tried to move from the bar, we gave up and moved to the next bar, hoping it would be better.

In fact, the next bar was so rammed, they weren't letting any more people in. Fans tried to force their way in, stewards tried to stop them, and the partition ended up being toppled over. Disaster.

And we didn't even sell out the full allocation.

Location was awful too, though can't really complain about that as a Cov fan!

Got there an hour before KO so plenty of room in the bar at this time for a few beers; thought the ground was impressive - ok it looked like an airport building from out side but inside had a good all round view. Parking was alright, 5-10 mins walk from one of those inustrial roads. All in all a great day out and only just down the road from us!

Yeah I like how you can see the pitch from the refreshments area so if you went to get a drink would be less likely to miss something

Not sure the second tier is such a good idea? At the Ricoh the seating is all one teir (Hotel section apart) and stacked all the way up some distance where everyone gets an excellent view. Splitting that into 2 tiers seems silly to me? When the 2nd tier is finsihed I understand it will have the same capacity as the Ricoh. I like the Ricoh and its complex.
