Stadium Plan Update 2025 (12 Viewers)

Some massive procrastination going on this afternoon but I thought with us going to be near selling out most of the remaining home games, I'd try and update the stadium plan.

This was one we used during the 22/23 season:



And this is one, I've butchered updated using the latest known info (such as Stoke getting 3000 allocation and us not selling block 5 etc):



You can see the new segregation has used up parts of both blocks 9 & 10. Looking at Stokes ticket site, the tickets available in Block 9 start at seat number 15 onwards, meaning 14 x approx 35 rows = approx 500. Which roughly tallies up to the figures on the block totals in the away end. Then add a couple of hundred from block 10 and you get 697. 268 is block 5.

Yeah I remember them saying that. A slight decrease in capacity.

Also on the plan, blocks 9-11 have lost some seats since the big screen was installed

Rail seating/standing has a ratio of 1-to-1 and the installation had no impact on capacity; the rail seats occupy the same amount of space as the regular seats they replaced.

Absolutely not. 65k and sliding pitch as a minimum. Perhaps there's some land near the NEC?

The easiest way to expand the capacity would be to lower the pitch. There's plenty of room to add 4-5 rows at the front. Would add minimum 4K - would need to be work on exits and concourse space though, so not as easy and it might sound. Not saying we should btw, that we're getting 4 or 5 general admission sell outs a season, and would sell out in the PL, doesn't mean we should.

I'd like to see us do this but add only 1 or 2 rows. Bringing everyone that bit closer to the pitch on TV.

Yeah, one thing I hate about all the 00s stadiums is how far fans are from the pitch. Never understood why. Recent builds like Spurs and Everton they have avoided this.

They'd be about 30ft further from the action, it would still be a straight line of sight, and still probably only half the distance from the top tier at Newcastle.

But surely if your dropping the pitch you have to change the slope or you'd never have a view of the wingers and FB?

No, you'd add rows at the same angle of incline, all you're effectively doing is digging down 20ft or so and decreasing the distance of the edge of the pitch to row 1.

The plan was to add an extra tier onto the east stand and for the away fans to be moved to that stand. Guess the capacity would1 be around 8K for the tier, so takes stadium capacity to around 40K. Need to have 15% available for away fans which would be 6K so some logic in having it as an away fan only area. Would mean no segregation spaces would need to be left elsewhere so all 32609 seats could be sold in the current arena plus 8000 for away fans gives you a capacity 42609. Like the idea of possibly putting more executive boxes around the north and south stands and guess work could be done on adding extra tier onto those stands if needed but I know they were more complex than the east stand plan

It's circa 32k if we're putting another tier on a stand I would suggest behind one or other of the goals. Personally, I think if we're going to add capacity we should be slightly more ambitious and add 10k not 3k. Based on economies of scale we may as well spend a bit extra with one eye on the future as the population of Coventry and the UK is not getting smaller anytime soon.

You would want to get at least 2 years in the PL under your belt before you even begin to think about this.

Need to get to the PL first then consolidate. Could easily come back down after one season then it’s 20k in a 40k stadium, library stuff.

Why would we allocate 8000 tickets to away fans, FA cup games maybe but not surely not league games.

What about drainage? Digging down means water will try to flow towards the pitch.

We could always try selling the seats under the CBS flags either side of the dug out and allow STHs to resell unused tickets... that would probably add about 1000 available seats on its own.

Why would you have extra exec boxes.
The reason the attendance was lower then the Leeds match is it wasn't sold out.

Fill them in with seats would get a few thousand more then.

It’s hard enough now to see JDS, drop the pitch and we’d lose him completely.

Need to steady on here. Can only get 30k in a 32k stadium. Most the time it’s below 30k and people talking of expanding
