What is it Adge....Film/Play ??Really looking forward to this one which comes out on Friday. 2 geniuses of comedy in their prime but think the film is about their declining popularity and their fall out with Hal Roach. Any Laurel and Hardy fans going?

Yep and unfortunately for many, that is the only perception of them.Loved Laurel and Hardy because they were more than just slapstick.
Yep.The music box is an absolute peach aswell which they got an academy award for best short picture.
Just found it on YouTube! It's called Block HeadsGotta be two of my favourite comic pairings! They worked off each other so well. And as Otis says, it wasn't all slapstick. I can't remember what the film was, but one of my favourite clips was when Stan had come home from (I think) the war and Ollie went to meet him at the veterans hospital. While he was waiting for Ollie to show, Stan sat in a wheelchair and tucked his leg under him, just for comfort you understand. The inevitable happens. Ollie sees Stan and is horrified that his friend "has lost his leg"! He pushes him everywhere for ages until Stan gets up (I can't remember why) and Ollie picks him up and puts him back in the wheelchair! It's so hard to describe the scenes, but if ever anyone gets to see it, it's hilarious! I just wish I could remember the title of the film!
All my kind of viewing Otis!I bought their entire collection on DVD (I think some of their very last few films aren't on there) a few years back. Still yet to watch every film.
I have three box sets that I absolutely treasure and they are the Hitchcock entire collection, the Marx Bros entire collection and everything of Laurel and Hardy.
Hey!!! Grrrr.....Yes the box sets of Laurel and Hardy would be on my wish list for viewing when I'm old, infirm and housebound.
Is that a hint for your birthday, Houch?I'd love the complete set of all the Only Fools And Horses series including all Christmas Specials. I catch the odd one or two on TV and watch them as if for the first time and they're bloody hilarious!
You don't. It works nicely just on human relationships, and performance v 'reality'.Heard such great things about it and it's said you don't even need to be a fan to enjoy the movie.
Yeah, probably could be misinterpreted! But seriously I do have these kind of ideas that one day I'll have time to watch these when I have plenty of time. It's a kind of delayed pleasure - I even avoid the Simpsons now so I can bank unseen episodes. Madness I know but even semi-retired I don't have the luxury of time at the moment.
