Brian McDermott had a significantly greater starting platform, budget and available resource. He has still done a great job though as has Thorn imo but the suggestion for eitehr is way off the mark imo a smany better candidates.

Too many people on here underestimate what Thorn has achieved.

He's a great shout for manager of the year.

Late kick off the other night were saying what a fantastic job he's done too.

First off it is all just opinions - each to their own. So what if some rate him and some dont, neither opinion will affect the fact he is manager and likely to remain so whether we stay up or go down. Has done much better of late and should be congratulated for such - doesnt explain whole season though does it (but thats just my opinion)

Secondly can we please wait until we have actually achieved avoiding relegation before we nominate AT for anything - right now he & the team hasnt achieved a damn thing.

If we were to go down..... AT would still be the same bloke the same manager, but will be the bloke who took us into League1 for first time in decades. In actual fact his personal performance might be exactly the same but he wont be anywhere close to manager of the year. Like it or not if he contributes to success he contributes to failure also. It is a fine line. He has had a season learning the basics of management on the job - for me that hasnt made him one of the top managers in the division. Take the perverse situation of us going down and Pompey staying up - without a shadow of a doubt all the accolades would go to Appleton because of all the "stuff" he has put up with, yet I think the guy is a complete idiot.

In my opinion we have always had enough in the squad to stay up this season - the fact that we have flirted with division 1 has been because of a combination of players,owners and AT, all of them contributed to the situation, all of them under peformed or made mistakes. All of which broke my confidence in what should have been achievable. It may be because of the players & AT that we stay up - havent achieved that yet. They are rebuilding my confidence in CCFC. As to the financial future well being that begs a whole lot of other questions and some of the results & answers are not going to please everyone I suspect

I love the renewed confidence here and at the club - but can we please achieve the goal of staying up before we go awarding prizes !

It would not be a surprise if AT got manager of the month. It is not the team who gets the most points. It is a mix of teams played, squad available and position in table at the start of the month. A bit more to it than that, but these are the basics. That was about our hardest month of games. Many would not have been shocked if we only got 3 points or less from them games. Undefeated and 1st away win of the season.

Please don't give it to AT. He don't want it. We don't want him to get it.

Well the bookies had us as one of the favorites to go dwn at the start of the season, bookies usually aren't wrong. I would soley put it dwn to thorn why were out of the relegation zone, be it transfers or tactics, he did it!

Well, he takes a lot of the credit for it. But I was arguing earlier in the season that when a team's doing badly it's always the manager that gets the stick, nobody ever blames the players enough. So on the flipside, I think the players have to take a lot of the credit too.

Adkins back to back promotions
Dougie Freedman has achieved much better results with similar funding
Brian McDermott lost there two best players in the summer an on course for a better finish
Malky Makay got Cardiff to Carling Cup final
Sean Dyche lost his top scorer in Graham in the summer and then his top scorer in January and are on doing just as well if not better.
and that is just in our league

Way over the top, if he keeps us up he has done a good job but manager of the season? Maybe if we keep this up for another 6 months he could be manager of 2012

The whole point of saying Manager of the Year, not Month, is that the travails have been with us all season: they haven't just turned up! To climb out of the bottom three despite that, indeed to have kept spirits in the dressing room going when many would have been close to giving up, is why Collymore has made that statement.

And anyway, he hasn't been "making mistakes all season until now"-he was still getting more right than I've known any of the previous 6 managers we had did.

Genuinely though, managers at the bottom don't win these awards. Did Paul Jewell win it when Bradford avoided the drop that Premiership season? Did Ian Holloway for his glorious, over-achieving failure last season? No.

And as far as this month goes, it should probably be Dyche at Watford. Aren't they on something like 17 points from a possible 21? Which does of course put our point there into context as a great achievement-and yet we had fans on here and the phone in saying we were "too negative", "shoulda gone for the win", "two points dropped"..

As his contract is up at the end of the year then he'll be gone. According to you he is the lowest paid in this league so will go to one of the offers that will surely come his way.

So poorest paid manager but one of the best. Gone at end of season surely! Like westwood, king and Gunnar last season they know a better deal will come along. Even boothroyd and Adams got new jobs so why would he stay?

If he stays it's because no one wants him, eh? And yet again - in your perverse little bubble, you'll have been right about him all along. He may get offers and decline them, that you'll perhaps never be party to, but you'll convince yourself you're right.....

So, if we stay up, and Thorn stays; kduffy was right all along. Why ever didnt the rest of us see it earlier?

Or a few defeats. People seem to judge a manager solely on results. I think the owners of the club have hindered AT, more than they have helped him. We were favourites for relegation. The defeats disapointed me but did not really shock me. My opinion on AT was still good as I counter balanced his performance before he lost six senior pros and gained only 2. Against his performance after these events. Hence the defeats did not make me think he had suddenly became a bad manager. I now see him performing again, I think it is mainly down to been able to sign a couple of players and a couple coming back from injury.
However we still have a light squad an injury to Keogh and Platt for example at the same time for a few weeks. I believe we would suffer a few defeats again. It's a strange thing to say but with the clubs current finances and owners approach I think judging AT on defeats would be harsh. However showing surprise at him getting results under these circumstances is normal.
